I love both Octopath Traveler games. I really like that I can do things my own way, but I do get that some people like more linear games not ones that make you choose. This second one is a major upgrade in my opinion it took all the things I really liked and made it better.

50 hours into the game and I can honestly say that I am loving it so far. My only problem is the same problem with the first game - lacking story department in the chapter 1 of the characters. Except for Osvald and Temenos' chapter 1, it was pretty tedious for me to get through a lot of the other characters. Aside from that, once it picked up its pace, I'm loving all of the stories so far.

I honestly love all 8 characters!! But, my favourites, story wise are Osvald, Partitio, Thronè( my starting character) and Temenos

Great review!! My only complaint 25 hours in is that they reuse alot of the monsters and npc models from the mobile version.

Not the worst problem at all and I had a 3 days off since the game came out.
Finished Spiderman 2 in 20 hours and found it a real let down,playing this on the switch oled and it impresses as much as Spiderman graphically just differently but it’s such a great game and leaves me feeling happy after I kill a big boss.87 hours and I think I’m maybe 60% through it’s brilliant.
I haven't beaten the first game, but I'm very close to the end. Loving 2 as well. I'm about 67 hours in!!
Also loved bravely defaults. Actually 100%ed 1, and 2, but not BD second...

100% agree with you, I rather enjoyed the first game also…and also didn't finish it, for the exact same reason(s) you cited.
Only a dozen hours into 2 but, just like you, I find it quite a bit more engaging, and quite a lot less tedious. Really liking it so far, again, for all the same reason you cited haha.
Really hoping it manages to hold up through the finale. Feel like I will play all the way through this one.
