  • The town of Holmfirth in Yorkshire, famous for the BBC TV Comedy Series Last of The Summer Wine. Now famous for it's Fish and Chips in particular Compo's Fish & Chip Shop, aptly named Compo after the character from Last of The Summer Wine who's alway's trying to impress Nora Batty. Holmfirth is a beautiful part of Yorkshire so take a walk around the town then over to Compo's Chippy to review their Fish and Chips. The big question is can they batter the fish as well as Nora Batty Battered Compo with her broom?

When you are a child you have many more taste buds than when you are an adult (medical fact for the doubters). That is probably why you have nostalgic memories of the food tasting better as a child. That , or the food was just better! Not sure myself!

I got quite emotional watching this. My nan and grandad always watched Last Of The Summer Wine , so this video brought back a lot of happy memories of being in their living room with the fire on full blast and feelings of nostalgia. Thank you for that. I like all your videos but I think I've found my favourite one now.

The first time I went to Holmfirth must have been before Last of the Summer Wine was first broadcast. The only thing of note in Holmfirth back then was Bamford Printers who used print the saucy seaside postcards. I've been there since and it's become right old tourist trap. Anyway, back to the fish & chips from Compo's chippy. I'd give them 5 stars (that's 5 out 5 by the way. I don't do 10) . They look much better anything I can get in Oxford. The local chippies don't seem to able to make decent chips. Claggy I call them. You pick one chip up and all rest come with it!

I was introduced to LTSW through public TV here in the states and it quickly became my favorite show. Unfortunately, it became too old fashioned when children started running public television stations and we no longer can watch it. The theme song always brings a tear to my eye.

Unfortunately the cafe has gone downhill. I went in July and we couldn't eat the food it was very poor. But found a lovely place hidden away in the heart of the village that had rabbit burgers and they where divine
