I left the sunny shores of Blighty for Canada too. You can't find a butcher or the old monger of fishes anywhere hardly nowadays. We are very lucky to have a wonderful Irish chap who is a farm butcher, but you would never find him unless you know where his shop is. Miss meat pies and pasties out here too.

I think her customer service shown here shows her personality and the way we as a family have been brought up.
She looks and has tomboy personality. Plus the tomboy doesn't have anything with being gay/lesbo. This existed for centuries. Girl with male personality is for plenty considered unacceptable. At least in past centuries. Don't know for now, encountered 2 in my life. One i talked with and other was passing by.

Living not too far away from this butcher's shop I thought I'd give it a try after viewing your video, I was not disappointed. I purchased several different items including sausage rolls, steak & ale pies etc, everything was good quality and stuffed with meat, and the value for prices paid could not be better.

Passed here during lockdown and was impressed then with the food and service. Lovely young lad serving Danny, the only saving grace in being charged for your ice cream was at least he said yes please when you asked if he wanted paying.
You wanna come to Rawtenstall on a Friday or Saturday evening Danny. The market turns into a food fair. Try Ground Up. Grilled cheese sandwiches with a twist. Pizza Box is amazing too. You can also get Greek gyros, amazing bagel sandwiches, milkshakes, desserts and a lot more. You'll be spoilt for choice.

Motivated girl at counter, well done. Food looked tremendous, quality and fresh. Cheap as chips. Lucky no Devils food in pasty. In Australia some bakers use the frozen mixed veg in pasties etc. Often containing sweet corn, @ Devils Food for Danny. 10/10 from me.

@ianthomas1060 - I think Subway bread has been classed as a cake, due to the amount of sugar (by Irish court rules). It probably happened couple of years back, but it was interesting to read how much sugar there is in a Subway bread (not healthy at all, far from it). Personally, I prefer other foods, definitely nothing to do with the main fastfood chains. None of them are good, and local will always be better, especially if they are local farms around, and local small shops. Note: been working in almost every country in EU (including some Scandinavian countries such Finland, Norway, Iceland), US (NY, LA, Hawaii, Alaska), Canada, Australia, Japan (Kyoto and Tokyo)... now in UK, working in London (but been to Scotland and Wales a lot). Hence yeah... If you are in a hurry, on some airport, you don't have much choice. Fast food chain will do. But for evey day, small shopping - yeah, better to go local. And it UK there is even a difference between quality of the meat between something like Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose and Morrisons (which is probably better, as they work very closely with local farmers, and they always have quite good variety of meats).
@@tannhauser5399 You make several good and interesting points. Subway…hmmm for me it is the worst of the fast food chains by far. The shops themselves have a distinctive smell of ‘artificial food’? I would go hungry before visiting Subway, also, they add the ‘char grill’ lines to chicken after it has been cooked…? I am not as well travelled as yourself, (impressive list you have!) but I do believe the average standard of fresh food is better in French supermarkets than British, from speaking to French people about it in my bubbling French they seem as a public to have higher demands than most Brits who just ‘put up with it’. I really noticed this after spending 7 months in France several years ago. We also have friends in Naples and again the food is better. Off topic slightly, in the UK the volume of super processed foods has increased at a rapid rate. The worst of these foods in my opinion is the ‘healthy advertised’ (I’m not sure!!!) Plant Based Foods. These are the amongst most processed foods that you could possibly eat, artificial in every way. Why would you want hyper processed meat substitutes if you are vegetarian or vegan? There are so many great alternatives to meat that are whole foods & healthy.

@ianthomas1060 - I think Subway bread has been classed as a cake, due to the amount of sugar (by Irish court rules). It probably happened couple of years back, but it was interesting to read how much sugar there is in a Subway bread (not healthy at all, far from it).
Personally, I prefer other foods, definitely nothing to do with the main fastfood chains. None of them are good, and local will always be better, especially if they are local farms around, and local small shops.
Note: been working in almost every country in EU (including some Scandinavian countries such Finland, Norway, Iceland), US (NY, LA, Hawaii, Alaska), Canada, Australia, Japan (Kyoto and Tokyo)... now in UK, working in London (but been to Scotland and Wales a lot). Hence yeah... If you are in a hurry, on some airport, you don't have much choice. Fast food chain will do.
But for evey day, small shopping - yeah, better to go local. And it UK there is even a difference between quality of the meat between something like Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose and Morrisons (which is probably better, as they work very closely with local farmers, and they always have quite good variety of meats).
@@tannhauser5399 You make several good and interesting points. Subway…hmmm for me it is the worst of the fast food chains by far. The shops themselves have a distinctive smell of ‘artificial food’? I would go hungry before visiting Subway, also, they add the ‘char grill’ lines to chicken after it has been cooked…?
I am not as well travelled as yourself, (impressive list you have!) but I do believe the average standard of fresh food is better in French supermarkets than British, from speaking to French people about it in my bubbling French they seem as a public to have higher demands than most Brits who just ‘put up with it’. I really noticed this after spending 7 months in France several years ago. We also have friends in Naples and again the food is better. Off topic slightly, in the UK the volume of super processed foods has increased at a rapid rate. The worst of these foods in my opinion is the ‘healthy advertised’ (I’m not sure!!!) Plant Based Foods. These are the amongst most processed foods that you could possibly eat, artificial in every way. Why would you want hyper processed meat substitutes if you are vegetarian or vegan? There are so many great alternatives to meat that are whole foods & healthy.
