I blew my own mind with HTV (heat transfer vinyl)! Now it’s your turn.

  • {Sorry for the wonky video - still learning the ropes when it comes to editing. I threw in the towel and am sharing it as-is}.
    In this video I’m sharing a cool little trick I figured out - how to finish the back side of cork and vinyl with HTV - heat transfer vinyl.
    Here's a link to a scrapbuster video using our embellished vinyl: • Let's transform scraps...
    This is perfect to add a bit of bling/polish for bag straps, tassels, unlined bags, hair bows, loops, and more!
    In this video I’m doing my level best to see if I can ruin MY expensive vinyl and cork so you don’t ruin yours. (Spoiler Alert: I managed to ruin at least one).
    If you’re new to HTV, I’ll explain what it is, how to tell it apart from sticky vinyl and most importantly, how to apply it.
    The possibilities are ENDLESS. If you’re inspired by this technique please let me know what you created.
    Happy crafting!
    -Krystal

    Thank you for the video. I like that you don’t edit mistakes or bloopers out. That’s how a lot of us learn & we make mistakes so you showing us yours help us not worry so much about ours.

    Thank you for the video! Loved the commentary as well. My favorite part: "How's this for riveting you tube"?

      Thank you! I had no idea making videos was going to be so hard! I now pay better attention to editing and director and producer awards for the Golden Globes! Those people are the rock stars!

      @@CharmingCheek do you think I could use in back of fabric?

    • @CharmingCheek
      @CharmingCheek  Před 3 lety

      @@beebeej1 I’ve thought about it but am unsure. I worry that the adhesive wouldn’t be strong enough to prevent fraying.
      However, if your seams weren’t left raw, then I can definitely see it working! Give it a try on a sample project and let us know how it goes.

    Is that parchment paper you use with your iron?

  • @gypsyrobin
    @gypsyrobin Před 3 lety

    You can get a nice effect by using the Cricut, or any iron-on foil.

    loved this thank you for sharing. How do you hold your tassels together? what type of glue, etc?

    • @CharmingCheek
      @CharmingCheek  Před 3 lety

      Hi Ann! I’m just wrapping up a tutorial to go over the tassel project! I use Fabri-Tac or hot glue. However, the hot glue doesn’t work for every vinyl. On some of the more foam-type of vinyl it peels off.

    Thanks for doing this video. Very helpful! I’ve already put a zipper in a piece of faux leather and wasn’t sure if it could go over the zipper or not. Wanted to hide that zipper back. You’re the first one I found that addresses that. Off to try it. Thanks again!
