Very nice, mirrored basically my own finds when I started doing FeCl3 brass etching! One thing which may also help is a bit of heat when you're etching. Setting the container on top of a radiator, or in a hot water bath, can dramatically speed up the etching. Especially if you're doing deep etchings this may be interesting as you'll get crisper lines around the mask. Really like the patination you put on them too! 🙂

You can use almost anything that will block the acid from getting to the metal. Paint, toner transfer, etc. Crafsman has a good video going over some of the other options czcams.com/video/QaENUHSaaRM/video.html

Would a 4mm sheet of brass be too thick for this method? Not 100% sure if the thickness will affect the way it interacts with the acid or not.

At time line 1:17 why the transparent sheet is used. This will act as a resist. Actually this part is to be exposed for the ferric chloride to eat away the metal. Please clarify will you remove the transparent sheet before etching.
