Making A MIDI Stylophone out of GLASS!

  • A keyboard (well.. stylophone) that looks like it's floating in air! That's what I'm making today with this circuit board on glass.
    The way it works is there are two groups of ten keys. Each key in a group is connected with a resistor, so that when the stylus touches a key and completes the circuit, it sends a different value to the analog pin on the arduino. The arduino takes that value and turns it into a midi note to send to the computer!

    A retired model? Man, some computers have all the luck!
    Since you have it hooked up to midi you could do a whole bunch of other stuff as well, like a capacitive copper area that can act like the mod and pitch wheels on a regular midi keyboard for instance. Very cool project!

    Hi! just discovered your amazing channel, how do you use an arduino nano and turn its analog values into notes? I found instructions using arduino pro micro or leonardo with HID compatibility and so making a midi controller, but I have no idea about how to do it with the nano, thank you in advance!

    • @TheFreaxTux
      @TheFreaxTux Před 4 měsíci

      That looked odd to me as well after reading your comment, so I went on and search what was up. Turns out, it is an Arduino Nano Every, not a vanilla Arduino Nano. It doesn't connect to a computer directly, but the introduction page does mention about MIDI, so apparently it is possible to create a midi device out of it.
