    Great video, good to know this manufacturer's loads were inspired by how Five Guys fills a bag with fries.

      That's pretty funny & now you've made me hungry!!!
      I wonder if his powder may have been somewhat different than previously...with pretty much all of the velocities being well higher than what was listed on the boxes.
      Although the amount they were above shouldn't necessarily cause problems, it could possibly result in a different sort of pressure-curve. Just guessing. It might just be too hot for some guns.
      It'd maybe be like what happens if Five Guys were to be sent onions instead of potatoes and starting filling bags with those?

    Well the good news is you saved me from ever thinking I want to try this ammo. Seems to me they have serious quality control issues. Case neck separations, blown primers, primer flow…no good and no thanks.

      Easy to overlook the 37gr & even the 45 gr (if anyone interested in that weight). I think those are potentially loaded near perfectly?
      The 40 gr recipe looks not suited to the actions in the my Ruger & Rock, but in the M&P were workable, except for the one ZMAX and maybe other actions like AR57 or the PS90 they might also work well? Wish there was other uploads out there to compare with.(hint hint) heh.

    Anothet informative video.
    Thanks again. When i saw the claimed velocity on the box, i steeled myself for ammo issues and wasn’t surprised.
    I have loaded ammo almost this hot, and what happens is they are fine in the winter, but after cooking for a an hour or more in the summer, i run into issues.
    So, i’ve taken to loading and testing 5.7ammo in the summer. If it works in the summer, its ok for winter.
    Those 40gr loads are about 100-150ft/s too fast.
    Even the 45gr loads surprised me with the velocity you were getting.

    That Blitzking loading 👌

      @ShastaBean  Před 5 měsíci

      I think a bit on the spicy side.
      It might be good out of some actions, but the Ruger & Rock - maybe not so much.
      Would be interesting to see tests in other like the FNs, or AR57.

    • @wastool
      @wastool Před 5 měsíci

      @ShastaBean It looked pretty good out of the Smith. The gas delayed blowback seems to be a lot more tolerant of higher-pressure loadings. It does seem to rob the projectile of some energy, but being loaded this hot more than makes up for any energy loss from the action

      @@wastool I'm loading this myself for carry in the M&P and plan to take it down around the lower 1900s fps. I tested a few rounds last week that avg 1967 fps.
      I wouldn't be comfortable with the notion a primer could pop out and cause a jam.
      If I had dozens or hundreds of these rounds and could prove it doesn't happen at these velocities, that would be a different story. 2100 fps is really cookin'

  • @BuffRANGE

    Kind of looks like I should steer clear of this ammo ?

    • @ShastaBean
      @ShastaBean  Před 5 měsíci +2

      I think the 37 gr & two 45 gr loads were decent and would certainly look at buying more if I weren't going to be loading my own.
      As all of the velocities are above what is listed on the box, and in talking with him, I get the notion the powder may have gotten changed on him to contribute to that...just like we've seen with Vanguard where I have had 3 different LOTs each of BDF & the 36 gr GPM have all been quite different from each other and I've blown primers with some of their hotters batches.
      And of course S4 has been all over the map with velocities down to 2250 fps and up as high as over 2650 fps.
      R&R also susceptible to some change in components as we've seen with primer issues.
      So I don't know if it is ideal to throw the baby out with bathwater because of results from the Rugers & Rock I experienced. I'm curious how things chrono & function for other people that have bought it in the past, or currently. Stinx there's no other results to be found when I've tried to find them.
      I'm done buying anyone's ammo for now other than the Fiocchi FMJ to be able to use the fired-brass for loading, but might give the VO GPM another order if it ever comes available again. If they were to get that load straightened out, it's what I'd probably partially carry. But can't do that with the testing I've seen. Same goes for the R&R 37x and those primers.
      But if the 40 gr ammo here is going to continue doing over 2150 fps, then there's no way it will function in anything I own other than maybe the M&P.
      If I buy a PS90 or FN Fiveseven, then might find they function there, but I have a sense he's going to need to drop the charge a bit if that powder did get spicier.
      I did see today he has a different 40 gr offering with a projectile I don't recognize.
      I'm curious if you do?
      That velocity is well lower (2545 ) than the VMAX is listed (2615).
