  • Thank you for checking out our new BTS series! The three "older" heavy metal fans are back! In this video we react to BTS' cover of P-Diddy and Faith Evans tribute to Biggie (Notorious B.I.G.) "I'll Be Missing You"How. Tom loves the original and hopes this cover lives up to the hype! How will three hard rock/heavy metal fans react to the biggest band to hit the music scene since The Beatles? What will the BTS Army think of our ranking? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I'm a 57 year old Army. Introduced to them by my 24 year old daughter. I learned the meaning of "Love yourself " through their songs. And that itself taught me that is ok not to be ok, that I'm important, that is ok to cry. I found comfort and healing. And of course the fact that they are so humble, and all the struggles they went through makes them one of a kind. Thank you for giving these 7 beautiful souls the respect they deserve. 💜💜💜💜

The Rise of Bangtan is an amazing documentary series that goes into the history of BTS and where they fit in the overall kpop genre. It also tells their story using their own words using vlogs and background footage. It is seriously one of the best.

The Rise of Bangtan is a fantastic resource that combines a lot of clips to recreate the journey the guys have been on without adding anyone's interpretation of the information. They just premiered "Chapter 13" on 08/06/2021 and have more planned.
I hope you enjoy this journey, it can be overwhelming because there is a lot to see and hear. 💜💜💜💜💜

It really is, Aneesa and the team are just amazing. So thorough, so professionally edited, and so very honest and personal. I still regret not getting into BTS much sooner, but at least with Rise of Bangtan I can still go along for the ride, however belatedly. It does need a mention of the time required for it: thirteen episodes currently, with more to come; around 25-30 minutes each, plus deleted and bonus scenes (separately posted) averaging 15 minutes each. Also a tissue warning is more or less mandatory: you'll laugh till you cry, and then you'll (probably) cry.

Fam, ARMY has infinite patience as long as people are sincere and we don’t expect you to know everything! I just followed y’all because you seem real. ARMYs have very eclectic music backgrounds - lots of heavy metal fans. My background is from the Blues to Indie Rock. I’ve never loved a group like I love BTS. It’s the depth & lyrics of their Korean songs that makes us stay.

    [Verse 2: SUGA]
We're now used to our routines taken away
But still can't give up living on
We're more worn out because we don't know where this ends
We're an island we made ourselves because we couldn't trust each other
Hope an end comes for this tiring pandemic virus
Negative thoughts can sometimes be a minus
I knew it wasn't the end so I couldn't say bye
When that day comes, will say "hi" like nothing happened
    [BRIDGE: J-Hope]
I hate this world, our traces became memories
I just empty my mind, trust without conditions
I fill it every day with just loneliness
Not like the longing that encircles me
    We miss you, baby

I like your reactions! It’s fun to see grown men talking about the band that I like and liking them too.
I’m a newbie ARMY starting in 2019. I started to just liking the song Dynamite And then started listening to their old songs. But I was pulled deeply when I learned the history of BTS and learning the lyrics of their songs. I would say that ARMY has been misrepresented by the media as a toxic fandom. The truth is that these group of people are so inclusive, warm-hearted and welcoming. I’m proud to be a part of these group of people. 💜💜💜

We're only 4 episodes into our BTS series and ARMY has been fantastic to us! 💜💜💜
In the early episodes I mentioned that 3 older guys probably aren't the typical BTS demographic, but we're enjoying the band and loving the music. I'm also learning that there is no age demographic to BTS. They appeal to all ages! We're all hard rock/heavy metal first, but all 3 of us enjoy all genres of music, and are loving are BTS journey so far... and I'm proud to say it!!! 😉

    • @ystrw
      @ystrw Před 2 lety +4

The thing about the alleged toxicity is that so much of it comes from haters and antis, and it gets attached to us no matter what we're doing. We are ARMY, therefore we are 'toxic'. Now, it's true there are some quite nasty people who say and do some genuinely vile things, and claim to be ARMY while doing it... but most of us would agree that if you're being rude, disrespectful, or worse, you don't qualify as ARMY. And we do tend to fly off the handle when we feel the boys have been insulted or used, but we take an awful lot more heat for defending our guys than other fans do for defending their faves from bad behavior. Labeling us as 'toxic' is just another way that antis try to discourage people from checking out BTS. And of course all the negative and insulting stereotypes about K-pop don't exactly help.

    • @darmzdaitao8079
      @darmzdaitao8079 Před 2 lety +2

@@ystrw I totally agree with everything you said. When I'm In Weverse, I don't see any negativity in the feed and the post were totally wholesome. In fact whenever a controversy occur, we always remind fellow ARMYs to just ignore the haters and not to start unnecessary fights with them. We are protective only when below the belt comments without any grounds are thrown to BTS or if they are in danger. I actually think that the bad comments, death threats and the like that these reactors or youtubers get are from antis trying to taint the name of BTS and ARMY.

13:39 i am commenting only 13mins into the video to say, they did adapt this to convey their own message - RM's verse "to see half your face" was originally "to hear half your breath" in dedication to Biggie.
BTS is singing this in relation to the pandemic, when everyone's face is covered with masks. RM is singing about how they long to see that "half of the face", when everyone can freely meet and embrace each other without restriction (post-pandemic)

V possesses a baritone singing voice that has received a generally positive critical reception, with particular praise for his vocal range and "husky" tone.He gained wider vocal recognition for his performance of his solo song "Stigma", and was praised for his falsettos that showed off his vocal range and unique musicality.V's tonality on "Singularity", the opening track of BTS' Love Yourself: Tear (2018), was noted as a prominent "tone setter" on the album by music critic Blanca Méndez. Similarly, Katie Goh of Vice deemed it as "one of V's best vocal performances." Karen Ruffini of Elite Daily stated in their article that "V... has no problem producing super soothing, low tones that are a key element in the overall sound for BTS,"with Tamar Herman from Billboard also noting that V's lower range is a prominent piece of BTS' music.V's musicality is heavily influenced by his love for jazz and classical music. Eric Benet and Ruben Studdard are among his inspirations

It’s also great you’re adjusting your rankings as you go. For On, the song you did in Episode 3, on first listen I probably would have given it a7.7 as well. But after seeing them recreate the Manifesto film version in Grand Central as part of the Jimmy Fallon Show - and realising they were able to do it in one take, wow! And then to hear Jungkook perfectly sing the bridge to that song during Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, double wow! Maybe because a lot of Army are around your ages. That's why the comments are more constructive and not hate. A lot of us have been there, and we all didn't start out as BTS experts, and went through a stage of they all look similar. As far as your rankings, it will not make sense later since they have about 300 songs. I think what would be more useful is a 3 star system, where each of you has a star, and you guys rate if you will put it on your play list. So a 3 star would be where all of you would put it on your playlist, 2, or 1, or 0 stars.

Not a metal fan, but hard 80s rock is acceptable. (And I was a Korean linguist in the Army...20+ yrs ago). But they transcend labels, really. And they are something special, for certain. The production, cinematography, editing, dancers, etc are also top-notch. Individually, they are superstars, but together (and wholly supporting each other's solo work), they are a phenomenon. They are also endlessly grateful and giving to fans/Army, and are loveable dorks, which further endear fans; on top of being world-class song writers, vocalists, dancers, producers, rappers...Welcome to the rabbit hole!

V (second from the left) took a few as well, but generally, he was singing lower than Jimin and Jin. It seemed like Marty was referring to Jimin but saying V when he was impressed by the high notes?
Just one note, during the pandemic most of the BTS "live" performances are taped live, but they are rarely actually performed live just because of COVID precautions and the limitations around them being at home in South Korea and unable to travel and perform in person. Three exceptions to this would be their online fan meeting "Bang Bang Con: The Live" in June 2020 (to 757K viewers), their "Map of the Soul ON:E" online concert from last October (a two-day concert with 993K viewers), and a third online concert (also a two-day concert, to 1.33M viewers) - "2021 Muster Sowoozoo" - from June of this year. These were all virtual concerts, but they were actually performed live. The second two even had live ARMY viewers through Zoom (or something like Zoom, anyway).

It is their House Band. One of the things I've noticed over the past many months I've obsessively watched videos - from the beginning Bang Si-hyuk ((aka Bang PD) founder and producer of Big Hit) invested in a variety of talent. Instrument musicians, backup dancers, production crews, choreographers, MV directors, etc.

Just a thought...since you seem to be struggling with the ranking of each song, especially since you are trying to judge each song against the other songs or in comparison to the other songs, why not just give it a "Would I listen to it again?' OR 'Would I put this on a Playlist?' It is okay to like multiple BTS songs equally or even LOVE them! At any given time, my Top BTS Songs Playlist/Folder may have upward of 50-60 songs on it. And I change it often. I really enjoy your reactions and your enthusiasm. Also, I appreciate that you are recognizing the members too!

Haven’t even got to the reaction yet. Just had to comment on how respectful you’re being to ARMY…(guess you wouldn’t disrespect your Mum so makes sense lol ) 🤣 Hey if you are not wedded to your ranking system how about you change from points out of 10 to just ranking them against each other. So for example, you’ve reacted to four songs, so you’d rank them 1-4. Then next time, you rearrange your rankings based on where you think the new song fits…it might displace a song you previously had at no 2 for instance. It’ll be subjective and that’s all good…but you might need to each have your own ranked list. ARMY could play as well…we could choose our own order for the ones you’ve reacted to…and we’d all be different! Lol. So far I’d rank them 1) Mic Drop 2) ON 3) Dynamite 4) I’ll be missing you…except maybe 1 and 2 might need to swap places…once we get to 5 or 10 songs to rank my brain will explode though…just giving fair warning. I love all their songs, b-sides included…some of my faves are b-sides. Ok back to the reaction 💜

I really like everything about BTS. I like that they can sing & speak in 3 different languages and they are talking about learning spanish. I like that they can play instruments. I like that they write & produce most of their music. I like that they have artistic freedom. I like that they have other interests outside of music. I like that they can dance and I watching their tv shows, I like their personalities. We get to see every side to them, even if it's not nice or flattering. They let us witness them in their daily lives. We've seen them happy, sad, drunk, goofy, and mad at each other. The thing I admire most is; how they take care of each other, they have such respect for each other and how they have become brothers. They are very refreshing. They talk & write music about social issues, depression, hard work and other topics that most artists won't touch. Like I said, I like everything about BTS.

I would love to see your reaction to Daechawita by one of the rappers of BTS, AugustD aka Suga, I promise, you will not be disappointed. BTS also did another cover by Coldplay, Fix You, in English. I am not one of those picking out a favorite of one of the reactors. Each of us have our own way of doing things which make us all unique. I also feel rankings are not that “important”, I would just rather hear your reactions. Maybe when you react to a group of ten songs it would be fun to watch. We all have our favorites, one of mine is On, Kinetic Manifesto, but it’s okay that you have it numbered low, we all don’t have the same taste in music. Thank you for taking the time to listen to this song and for your input. I did subscribe and look forward to more reactions on BTS. We are very happy to see how much you are enjoying BTS. And we do know how big we (ARMY) are so we totally understand that you can't reply to all the comments or even react to all of their music, lol. We also don't mind pauses, or how long a video takes. And we hope you will record and post you guys watching their documentaries. And I like all 3 of you, lol. I'm also not sure if Marty might have been confused on who was singing what parts. The very high parts were sang by Jimin and Jin. First was V and Jimin and V sang the lower part and Jimin the higher. Then it was JK lower and Jin higher.
