Nice to see the RCSB gaining some notoriety. I don't think any company has advertised a "Shorty" in 30 years. With GM bringing theirs back this year, and Ford always making them, I'm looking forward to you doing a comparison test!

@@ALMX5DP Only in W/T trim with the 2.7 turbo 4. But, on the build and price you can build it up to something comparable to an LT.
An Old Ford diesel is probably best
Shorter wheelbase = easier towing and backing of trailers.
I love that Michael kept clowning on your truck calling it a toaster... I honestly never liked the black grill look but seeing these trucks side by side Im starting to like the darker lights, bumper, and wheels.
chrome is easy to maintain though, and at night that sparkle is nice 🤩
I prefer color matched bumpers
@@quicktoevil I like shiny things too but from my experience and where I live maintaining chrome is a pain. I'm with Steve I would actually prefer a painted bumper.

Indeed. KBB says that average price of a new car in September 2022 was $48,000.
Give it a couple years - prices might get back to being closer to what you remember.

Im currently driving a 07 RCSB tundra w/ the 5.7 V8 & can agree with everything they brought up. Loving this new stubby series! Best thing about the V8 stubby is It’s quicker & faster than most sedans on the road. Sleeper stubby

I put a 6.4 hemi in my RCSB ram! It’s very quick and gets 21 mpg!
I agree, I had a 4 door F150 short bed & got a regular cab short bed "because it's only my wife and myself now" & the regular cab is so much easier to get into any spot.
Always loved RCSB trucks. The fact that you can fit 35's with minimal modifications is awesome.
I have a 2014 hemi ram reg cab granite blue 8speed long box 4x4. Truck has been awesome!
The truck I owned the longest was a 2002 F150 single cab short bed 4x4 V8. (11 years.) it was a great truck. It’s a really useful configuration if you don’t have kids.
I really dislike when tires are outside the bodywork.
Disregarding the look it chips the paint and throw lots of dirt.
It is also illegal in many places.

Looking to buy a Ram soon… I’d love a regular cab 4x4 with the hemi but prices the way they are I could get a quad cab for the same price or a crew for just a bit more… Hard to justify a regular cab when they’re all so similar in price!
I bought a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman 4x4 crew cab new for $32,000. For me the leather and fancy electronics are nice, but hardly worth the extra cost. Since I don't tow anything, the Pentastar engine is more than adequate. Occasionally I haul truck full of cargo, but most of the time it is the family truckster. Plenty of room and comfortable ride. I am completely satisfied with a work truck.

I bought my 2020 rebel 4 door level 2 for 44,200 out the door. That was a good deal and before the shortages.
I agree. My 2022 Ram 1500 classic rides great.
I just really wish ram would've put the 6.4 liter in the 1500s. And offered a manual transmission. I don't care how good the new automatics are theirs something more exciting about driving a manual truck. The zf8 speed I've heard is a really good transmission but idk a hemi shortbox 4x4 with a manual 😎

Nice comparison and discussion on options and upgrades. I added power running boards that tuck away nicely when driving and are in a good position when getting in and out of the truck and I recommend it for Stubby if you transport ladies, children, seniors etc. I use an Anderson hitch to tow a 4,000 lb travel trailer ( dry weight) with my V-6 and it has been good for sway and helps with the squat.
Miss my 2015 Regular Cab with the Hemi, sold it about 2 years ago… regret it everyday. Seeing this series really makes it hurt more 😅
After having a 2d Silverado 1500 for 20+ years, I can tell you you get almost the good stuff of a truck with almost none of the bad. Easy to park, fits in garage, tows and hauls what I need, 2 big comfortable seats. The only downside is internal storage but I leave a basic Home Depot storage box in the back to put stuff in as needed. Would be neat to see my truck next to some of these on an episode someday. The old guy on here needs to be on more often 😅
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!! someone actually reviewing RCSB !!!!!!!! I have a 1997 f150 RCSB RWD 4.2 and my ultra "rare" 2019 f150 RCSB RWD 5.0. Regardless of manufacturer, I luv the way these trucks handle, drive, and look. And just as the gentleman said if I need to haul people, I got bulletproof Toyota Camry for that.
Enjoying the coverage of some of these more affordable trucks! People on a budget need to have comparisons too, as awesome as those top models are.

I should have been on your show as well. I have a 2022 two door short bed with the 5,7. White with the tow package. No power windows or locks. Chrome package classic. I love this truck and it my 3rd 5th gen Ram. Best trucks out there.
I’ve got to say I’ve got a 2013 with the 5.7 it’s a 4 door and it pulls like a mule. I’ve done 16000-17000 pounds on a trailer behind me and with functioning trailer brakes it does good. I wouldn’t trade that truck for any other one, after 125,000 miles of trailers and a few jeep trails I shouldn’t have been on it has never met me down
I've had a set of AlphaRex headlights on my 2014 RAM for over a year with no issues.
They should offer the Laramie in the regular cab short Bed. My 1995 Ram regular cab was a Laramie and it was nice to have a higher trim regular cab.

Work trucks aren't dead at all, it's just that for all the smoke and hot air blown online very few people actually want them. During the height of the vehicle shortage the ONLY vehicles on my local Ford lot where work spec F series and transits. And they sat there, and sat there. Even when there was nothing else left to buy, people would rather not buy work trucks and wait for their heated seats and satellite radio.
4:20 One major thing I miss about my 2010 2wd Dodge 'stub' was that soft ride. My '19 Ford 150 long box is much harder riding. Yes, it has a 2,400lb payload rating, while the Dodge was probably about 1,750, but on rough decaying urban roads and dirt roads its much stiffer riding. I really miss that car like U turn ability too. Even pulling my 13 ft camper trailer, I could do U turns on county roads.
I had a 2012 Ram 1500 Hemi just like these trucks. After discounts and rebates I paid $20,000 plus fees. Prices have sure hiked in the last 10 years.
Now if they bring back the little window vent and the foot well vents.

Hey Andre…Good video! I have the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic with the 3.6 and 4x2 Quad-Cab. You questioned towing. I tow our 4,000 lb travel a lot during travel the spring/summer with no issues, no sagging and to straining the engine, it’s a great workhorse of a truck.

Minimum wage since 1979 has only increased by 2.5x, while inflation has made a dollar worth 4.1x less. I would still want to buy the 1979.

Agreed the Ram 1500 Classic with the V8 and the 8 speed is so smooth as far as acceleration and throttle response compared to the 6 speed. Have to live with the dial shifter but small price to pay.
The Classic is also the least reliable vehicle out of everything Chrysler makes. Scores 1 out of 5.
@@nodak81 where’s the source for that? I’ve had good luck with Ram/ Dodge Trucks. Heck my Classic has been trouble free the 2 years since new no major problems from factory, alot of people hit over 200,000 miles with regular maintenance.

Love my kitchen aid version, although a “man’s version” in my mind should have a V8 and a long bed like mine vs black bumpers.
Tell the gentleman with the 5.7L hemi, you can turn off MDS (4 cylinder mode) with a Diablo predator sport tuner. That are about 400 dollars, then you can drive in automatic mode and still be running on all 8 cylinders with no dash lights.

I had a 2010 Challenger R/T with a 5.7L HEMI for 11 years and it never seen a Shop… Not once!!! Only thing it ever needed was normal wear and tear, Brake shoes, Oil Change, Filters..That’s it.. I sold it Last Year and used some of the $$$ to get My 2022 Power Wagon..👍
I have a bed topper on my 2021 Colorado. I love it and it versatile.
If Ram keeps up the "classic" configuration and keeps making the last gen trucks in a basic trim level, I think they may be on to something with the way prices have gone, people will be looking for the cheaper alternatives.
The V8 truck would greatly benefit from a dashboard tuner
No joke I have a 2019 new body style, v6 2WD lonestar 4 door with the 18” rims and it rides unbelievable smooth and feels like a Mercedes with the quickness and smoothness of the entire experience. It’s unbelievable different then the last body style it’s like comparing using bushing and not. It’s so refined you just gotta drive one
5th gens have electric mass modules on frame as active vibration cancellation, but i'm not sure if all trims though, yours maybe have it then
@@tallll70 something for sure it’s so refined and a massive jump from last generation even a older Laramie feels closer to a 2005 ram then the new ones. Not sure if my lonestar has it, but it rides noticeably nicer then my 2019 Laramie with 20” rims. Just very impressed with these trucks have had every year since 2002 and wander around what engine is next with hemi leaving
What’s crazy is those trucks start at $30,000 and as soon as you add 4WD it’s an over $7000 option. The $30,000 mark seems about right but seven grand for 4WD, base truck, previous GEN? I can’t wrap my head around that.
To compare brands:
Ford reg cab starts at over $33k, 4WD $40k
Chevy reg cab start around $33,500 - 4WD $38,500
My man was on point with the pricing!
And you can still build these out with a 3.92 rear gear ratio and a Hemi with the 8spd. Basically an R/T without the badge and lighter because of less interior features. These are Ram's best kept secret.
Hi if you price one out on Ram Trucks without the Tow Mirrors and include all the other packages it’s about 44 and change. I have owned a Ram Quad Cab with the 392 Tow Package and today I would rather have the the Little Work Truck with all the Options except the Tow Mirrors. No Hemi just the V6. Great Videos Thank You 🙏
just went from a 2015 chevy cruze that got hit while parked to a 2015 dodge ram classic single cab, short bed, 5.7. 2wd, and had only 30,000 miles for about 20k. absolutely loving it.

Now I want a v6 ram 1500 4x4 this truck hace impressive power.
In my area most of the small fleets are rams with the Hemi, they are great trucks. I have a 15 that I use for my business, honestly I tow with it endlessly. 32k miles of work towing and continued idling on jobs, just all around basic maintenance.
Michael! Reminds me of my dad! He wasn't about bell and whisles! He always drove trucks with no air and roll up windows! His last truck he owned finally had air conditioning but it was a work truck! Trucks use to be for the working man but they went the luxury route!
All vehicles went the luxury route. An entry level Kia/hyundai will blow your mind

@@omardevonlittle3817 exactly. imagine people's reactions to the LED headlights, heated and cooled seats, leather interior, 12" infotainment, 400hp/410lb-ft, stop-start, remote start, soft drop tailgate, back-up camera, etc. etc. in my Rebel. Modern vehicles are overwhelmingly more luxurious compared to the average back then.
Maxis MT is an awesome tire. I got those exact ones also for mine and it works excellent in snow. And off road climbing up rocks. I need new pair of shoes now since they r wearing down a bit.
I have some 33s on my ‘93 4Runner, and absolutely love them. I will be purchasing them again when they need it!
I have the basic tradesman in a quad cab 6’ box v6 version. Love that truck. Got 28 mpg going to idaho and average 21 around town and hwy mix. Another big perk was payload. Its 1960lbs versus the v8 with 1400lbs payload. I have a 1200lbs pop up aluminum camper I put in it. Taking basic essentials and water tank at a 1/4 full I get 18 mpg in the tow haul mode on the open road. Great engine and its been in everything so parts are abundant and its east to work on because it fits in the engine bay with lots of room to spare.

I have an 08 single cab, long box with a hemi. just bought it a year ago and with 273xxx km on it now still going well. Bought it with 260xxx km. Great work truck.

I love my ram 2012 5.7 Has that dumb eco mode lol solenoid went bad when I was pulling out of a parking lot. Goes into limp home mode so your stuck in fourth gear. About 900 bucks to get it fixed. But at least on mine I noticed how much smoother and less of a delay there was after I got it replaced. It had been slightly bad since I got it a little over a year ago

I have a 14 Ram Outdoorsman and it’s pushing 95k and all I’ve had to fix besides maintenance is bolts broken on exhaust manifold both sides. And I have magnafliw exhaust it’s a small body single in dual out and that eco mode sounds like crap! I do what the guy said put it on 8 and eco mode stays off. Love my truck!
Michael brought up such a good point with the regular cab configuration: it's basically a mega cab. You're getting more space than you would sitting driver seat in a quad or crew cab
Funny I had a 15 ram bought new, and I did not have any delay with it going from 4 to 8 cylinder. My brother's 07 ram had a horrible delay with the cylinder switch, but that's when the system first came out. I think that guy might want to have that checked out.

hmmm, 06 were the first which i had and i did not even notice until like 3 years later when someone told me during tires change, but on 4th gen with dual exhaust it's audibly very noticeable and i also feel the difference if i turn it off in city where it constantly switches back and forth, much smoother without it in city

Bought my 2014 std cab short box with hemi and 8 speed 392 diff and more , was a special order that was cancelled bought it new in 2015 from the dealer. Standard reflector headlights easily converted to led's and now nice and bright , got the bulbs on amazon and been working great for over a year . spent 70 dollars for the two bulbs I needed high and low beam , they set a perfect pattern blinding no one . No need to change out light assembly , you should put them in your new ram , love your video's !

I own a 05 Dodge ram rumblebee with the 5.7 4 wheel drive. Bought it brand new $28000
Those were EXPENSIVE trucks back then. I liked that model a lot, but couldn’t justify the purchase. I was Ranching then and my truck was a commuter for my 2nd career in law enforcement. 4 days as a rancher, 4 days LEO. The commute varied over the years depending on the post and type of LEO I was, but it was always 1.5 hrs each way minimum. By 2005 I had F150s because they were the best price when bought 4 or 5 at a time.

This was interesting to watch. I have a 2017 dodge ram 1500 with a V8 and crew cab and a 6 1/2 ft be. I absolutely love it I bought it in 2018 with 23k miles on it for 23k out the door before taxes. I got lucky and picked it up before prices sky rocketed. I now have around 68k miles on it and have not had a single issue or complaint about it. Great truck and I definitely plan to buy another one when I one day trade out my current one.

Just to comment on the headlights,those alpharex's are no joke. In terms of aftermarket lighting the 2 options you should look at are either morimoto or alpharex
Single cab long bed V6 2x4 2015 owner. Love mine. Bought it used for $9k.
I had no idea what the 5.7 sounded like stock them lol. My dad and brother put an exhaust on theirs (RCSB) pretty much when new. My dad tows with his and my brother has drag raced his since new. Surprised how the engine is still running good even with the nitrous setup he has and bolt ons for over 100k miles
