Please wear a hard hat and some safety glasses. That is some super crazy wall construction. I’ve had three kids and a scratched cornea. I would rather go through childbirth again than deal with another cornea scratch.
A dust mask would be advisable as well, breathing goodness knows what in is not advisable!
Great job, Ryan, but remember safety first must always prevail. Mask, safety glasses, and a hard hat should always be worn.
I’ll be surprised if he survives this whole thing without a hospitalization. Video after video viewers say the same thing and yet there he is. No hard hat. No mask. No goggles. 🤷♀️
And not only a hardhat, but also use a ladder or scaffold. Having your head higher, makes it easier to keep your distance from falling debris. Now your reaching up, and putting your whole body in harms way.
Get yourself a substantial ladder man!
Safety first! A hard hat, dust mask, and safety glasses will guard your health. We want you around for a very long time, Ryan.
Absolutely right. I grew up in an old house where my father worked, doing whatever work needed to be done. My father learned a hard lesson when he became very sick from scraping lead paint without a mask. It’s crucial to always wear a mask. Additionally, if there’s a risk of falling debris, wearing a hard hat and safety glasses is necessary.
You could have talked that wall to come down!
😂😂
To be fair, a strong fart would probably bring the whole house down
@@lifeofryan.😂😂😂
With such small rooms it may be worth while to remove the fireplace wall and install individual wood burners in floors you need as stack takes up a sizeable area of floor on each of four floors.
@@lifeofryan. in the U.S., we might say you are a real gas! ( a rather odd American way of saying you are funny) 😊 best of luck to ya!
Eye protection needed...
“This wall was held together with hopes and dreams” and the bar was set very low apparently, lmao!!😂 Ryan you keep being you, and stop apologizing for your little mistakes, because you’re awesome just the way you are! No outtakes needed when you are awesome my friend!! 🙌🏻✨❤️😁
DUDE!! I'll say it, too. SAFETY FIRST, ALWAYS!! You know better, Ryan!
I am so sorry for your forced deconstruction but in a way, I am glad you are being forced to rip out the old and put in new and safe. You will be so happy that your new house is now safe and even healthy with now wood worm and sagging floors and gosh only knows what airborn bugs in the air. It’ll be all good and all your construction and that is good, sadly not inexpensive but very good. Think about getting an architect to lay it out perfectly and very thoughtful. It would be money very well spent and they could even help you with figuring costs. I’m Praying for you, Ryan. God bless! Wade, in Alabama, USA. 🇺🇸
please wear a mask and glasses when you break stuff.
oh please be safe-safety glasses and hard hat. keep on with good videos.
Darlin .. Darlin - Darlin … you matter to me please safety & protection first ! Wear steel tipped boots , hard hat safety glasses & never use your legs to kick wall in . As a person who completely tore the cartilage on her knees I’m concerned about a possible injury .Please always make a priority to take good care of yourself .

HELMET ⛑️!!!
Yes please accidents happen before you know protect your head ,eyes,
Lone working with no safety gear. Come on Ryan, get safe.
Hey Ryan, if that's floor one above the basement.
Don't restore the small separation between the room and stair hallway. Leave it open and expose the stair case with a great handrail.
With both windows, it is so much brighter. Gives a little more floor space as well. It will look amazing!!!
I am with you. Walls make the place look small. Other than the bathroom/toilet you don’t need them
tottally agree . open plan would be the best way .Then 2 bedrooms with ensuite would be nice too and quicker for work to progress .
I think a big sliding door is perfect.
Depends on whether he can heat that space effectively, it IS not always advisable or practicable to have big open spaces.
@@TheBlackClaymore You do if you want to keep warm in the winter.
Coming from Sweden it always fascinates me when seeing how thin walls are in warmer countries. With a huff and a puff they fall down.
Can you imagine someone actually lived in that house once? It’s all like it’s made of paper!
Forge on Ryan, good for you, never give up.
"He came in like a wrecking ball.....!" Lovely fireplace, Ryan!
Now you might get a little bit of the feeling Michail Sergejewitz Gorbatschow had, after Ronald Reagen sauid his famous words: "Mr. Gorbatschow, tear down this wall!" It creates freedom!
The reason it was necessary was to keep the heat in the rooms from the fireplaces. Without it all the heat rises through the staircase to the attic, from fireplace or new installation of a modern system in the future.

Love the idea of the pocket doors to each bedroom. That will go a long way to making your rooms very comfortable. Ryan, good job. Thank you for sharing.
What is the age of the house? Watching your videos is so interesting as to what you’ll find. Can’t wait for Nick to return 🤗
There wasn’t anything wrong with your videos before, anything you’ve published has been wonderful to my eyes. Of course, I’m just this side of blind.😋 It’s lovely to hear that your Patreon site is bringing benefits already, and I know you’ll put it all to good use. It sure was a flimsy wall, it gives you the chance to set up the room in a better configuration that suits you. It may be hard to believe but someday you’ll be putting in new walls and floors. Onwards and upwards Ryan!
Hard Hat Time Ryan!!!!
The room looks much brighter and much better without the wall, it won't be missed! Plesase do not forget your safety gear next time!
Well, Ryan, with those flimsy walls gone, you now have more options for room design, plus add insulation too. Awesome 👏🏻.
Please Please take care of yourself and wear your Safety Glasses and a mask. Protection is Key!
Love your presentations and am excited to see finished product! 😊
I wouldn't be so keen to leave the rooms open to the stairs. Not just because of privacy but also noise and heat.
He just explained that, he’s having a sliding door 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ 👂 👂
@@juliehilton1701people just want to give unsolicited advice. 🤷🏻♀️🥴
@@bluemoon1033 Of course! That’s our job! We all do our part. 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
I think I would be replacing some of those beams before you take down to many more walls, or your outside walls might start to cave in!
I was thinking the same thing!
@@heehaw8401 I was thinking the same also.
Please do me a huge favour and refrain from talking to yourself, saying you're an idiot. You're most definitely NOT one.
You're a most precious soul, who is game to take anything on and learn along the way.
Everyone gains knowledge by learning, usually by making mistakes.
Love you, Ryan. Please remember safety first. We need you. ❤🎉
Keep going Ryan. It’s not like your hurting anything - just getting that trash out of there is an improvement.
You could make the attic your office and turn the basement into a wine cellar/food & cheese storage. I also have to admit that I’m jealous of your project.
Imagine how much weight is coming off the bones of that house and how much better it will feel when new lighter materials will make her whole again.
I hope everything can be bagged up in time for Nick Moon to arrive so he can help you with the big projects!! Keep up the great work Ryan!
Lighter and stronger is desirable in most instances. 🎉
If had your living room in that space I would leave the wall open. Great view from that floor and you had plans to make a second bedroom on the top floor
A lot of people seem to care for your well-being, that is a great thing. Don't let the NEGATIVE NANCY'S effect your success here. Just imagine if you are able to nearly finish the Demo work and haul off the mess before Magic Moon makes his way back to you and your flat. It's all uphill once the final demo is done...the best thing about not being rich doing this is that your progress will line right up with your means financially. I'm working on a place myself, but not as historic as anything you English CZcamsrs in France are doing...I love your light-hearted personality(I've considered looking into missing persons from the mental hospitals near you😂😂) keep up the good work. Your channel and your following will grow as will your revenue and budget...Stay Strong Ryan!!!
Well, the door frame was pretty solid anyway! 😮
Worth keeping, I would say. That hardwood will last for centuries.
Good job he checked that the wall was not covered in asbestos sheeting ... ahhh. Do not buy an old house unless you know what you are going or take a surveyor to appreciate these issues first
Walls so robust they could have been used as a set on the classic Doctor Who.
😂😂😂
Once you put back the interior walls they will be built much better.
You should do a "Hi-ya!" like Miss Piggy every time you hit the wall.
But seriously that camera necklace was a great investment!
keep in mind that sliding doors aren't sound proof *AT ALL*
Some are. Even thick curtains can be soundproof. Just depends on how they’re made.
And so the demolition continues! Good job Ryan! Right now you have a very nice open plan house 😉
It always gets worse before it gets better xxx
I know a lot of people probably won’t agree with me, but I would take the wall out that’s from the living room to the kitchen that has the fireplace. Something tells me that wall is pretty rotted too. You could always build a full fireplace on the opposite wall, but it would also open up the room, so you don’t feel so cramped in the kitchen.
Agree. Open floor plan feels much roomier than cramped little rooms.❤
I find it extra interesting to follow your renovation because practicly the hole inside of the house must be re-done from scratch. I really really hope you somehow can finish it and get the finance you need for it because we all want to see how it progress and of course the end result. Love from Sweden ❤
that's 1248 sq ft for those in USA
I love your videos because they are not perfect 😊 I love you being perfectly you. You have an amazing personality and sense of humor. And the same knowledge I have on demolition and renovation, I can definitely relate to everything you do or don't do. Thanks for the ride along 😊
Have you ever shown the backside of your building? Would love to see if a windows could be added in that niche? The street view looks like there is nothing behind? Thanks and good job Ryan.
I was wondering the same thing. The land was originally with the house but the previous owners changed the land ownership. I wonder if there is a small amount of land so Ryan can maintain the exterior of his house? I would also love a window in that niche or even on all the floors to add extea light. I really hope Ryan adds skylights in the attic like Simon did in his farmhouse.
Ryan you are basically going to have pocket doors to save space in the rooms ,this is where the door goes between the walls on runners /sliders too and bottom of the doorway .
Called cavity sliders in my part of the world.
Ryan - kicking down walls , new ‘ toys ‘ to use on the job … you’re doing quite well, my friend !!!! I’m glad you’re going to turn this old shell of a building into a beautiful home ❤❤.
Those thin terracotta walls seem to be a french thing ,Edd had them too in Bordeaux, you may have to install a double thickness plaster wall as you have more then three floors and only one fire escape. The plaster holding the wall together v poor construction.
I think you may have bought a Money Pit, I wish you the best of luck in renovating this house. Keep up the good work.
Those bricks on the wall looked like they were made of thin cardboard, haha. I'm glad you decided to take it down. I really enjoyed your renovations, or should I said your demolitions.
from the construction of those thin walls they were added much later than the original construction of the building. The original rooms were much bigger and changed to accommodate a changed family perhaps
You give me so much inspiration to work on my own house. I definitely don’t have as much work to do as you do ripping down to it’s bare bones and basically replacing everything before you can live there. We live in our 123 year old colonial house in upstate ny and it’s in much better condition but it’s so old I basically have to replace everything too, I just have to do it one project at a time and do it over time. My boyfriend is permanently disabled and my dads got Alzheimer’s so it’s just me to figure it all out on my own and it’s hard to not have help when you need it but just keep at it and you’ll feel so rewarded when you’ve made something old into something new again, into a home. I’m working on my dining room in the middle of the night right now. I can’t imagine filming everything and looking great for the camera too. Keep up the good work you’re doing great! ❤
damn looks so much better and light flowing with that wall down and it showcases the circular stair case
Who needs a sledgehammer when you have feet!
I’m no expert, but I do like your idea to knock down that wall. I would much rather have one large room than two or three small rooms. Well done!
I love the new camera view, Ryan. Big improvement 👍
So glad your patreon is helping out.
It's exciting to see those weak walls coming down.
Eager to see what's coming next.
I love your videos, you truly manage to feel like a friend whose restoration I'm getting to watch.
You're doing great, keep up the good work!
That is the strangest way I've ever seen a wall constructed. Good call taking those down man. Without much you should be able to rebuild a wall that's significantly stronger.
Imagine having that fall on you noggin… that be one bad day
@Del213 It's lasted a bit longer though.
Great job taking that down. You should wear a hat tho. Can't wait for next week to see what you have in store. God bless you Ryan.
I had the song kung foo fighting going through my head when you
were knocking the wall down 😂😂😂😂😂😂 ☕🍰🤗👍
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Ryan where is your hard hat 😮
Loved this video Ryan! You've made quite the mess but I did notice you have new "mess bags" to put it all in. Start at the top and knock all the plaster down and take out the walls that need to be replaced, You can then replace your joists and studding, install your electric and plumbing, put in your sub floors and get the insulation and plaster board up. You are doing great! Always ware a mask though with all that old dust especially because it has lime in it. In some cases Lye was added to plaster and that will burn your lungs. Lye and lime are completely different. Lye is sodium or potassium hydroxide, lime is calcium oxide and/or calcium hydroxide. My father would add Lye to plaster and mortars for doing fancy plaster work - as kids we were not allowed to help him or be around when he was using Lye.
Well said.
Great video though❤
One less job to do. Love your videos.
Looking forward to a special friend. Just about to watching him and his family.
You will be surprised how quickly it will come together. It will like a building site and not a demolition one . 😊❤
Ryan hope you're doing good mate 😊
Safety gear at all times in your house !! anything could happen , you shouldn't really work alone 😢
Which little Piggy built this place surely not brick Piggy.. the big bad wolf Ryan .. Best thing is what you are doing gut it except for the stairs.
Might be good idea , to leave the rest of the wall . Gives the room a bit of charter . Good work Ryan 😊👏👏
Love your videos Ryan!
Some really interesting construction techniques used in your place over the years! You must be nearly back to solid walls! Good fun watching! Thanks
Well done Ryan! love the content keep it up 🙂
"There is something wrong wit this wall. BAM! It has a hole in it."
Hard hat and safety glasses plus hard toed boots all needed for this job Ryan.
Always fun to see progress!
Excited for you!
Ryan, dear, where is your safety gear??? Well done clearing the old wall! Maybe a good idea to have a tidy up, a few trips to the Tip, to get the place cleared/cleaned up before Nick returns.
So much brighter ❤
I would let a structural engineer take a look at the construction... I'm not sure but it looks like the wall facing the road is somewhat compacted mid wall, having some bricks bend down a little! I'm probably wrong but I would be cautious and make sure the foundation and the structural walls and supports are 100% sound! It's easy to make a comment about what you see from small bits in a video, you probably know just what it looks like and have been checking it out but if you're not absolutely sure, have a structural engineer take a look at it because it IS your safety we're talking about! 🤔
Thank you for yet another great video, keep them coming please! 😛👍
I love your ideas on reno on this place.
Ideas of living space of this place would be basement make it laundry and man cave rec area.
1st floor the entire area a kitchen and dinning area.
2nd floor a living room with open concept and attic top floor your bedroom with bath. Make it spacious and inviting.
6:35 great work, it gives so much more ligth in that room now
So glad you started a patreon…you look much less stressed. Love you videos!
Ryan gets to practice his karate kicks.
I love the new camera angles you've incorporated!! Keep up the great job!
1200 sq ft is a respectable sized home. Especially for 1 - 3 ppl. Congratulations on you progress.
Awesome Ryan, love the updates... I see your visioning your living spaces 🤗
Dear Ryan, I'm so happy you are funded 💗💗💗 u can buy what you need,God be with you, hunny! 💝💝
Ohhh please, I worry. You should always wear a protective helmet and protective glasses. Your safety/health is paramount. Another informative video. This is one hell of a project, good luck Ryan 😂😂❤❤
Sooooo good to see you today Ryan! 😊
Great job of staging. The effect seem so real. Good job
This place is going to look fabulous. Glad the crumbly bits are coming down/out and you can make it all safe and sound! Doing great Ryan
Taking down that wall let in so much light and really opened up the space.
Ryan, just a thought and definitely not meant to be negative. Unless you are just in love with this village & home once you get the demo done & cleaned up I would think you could sell this property for a good profit & start looking for something that needs much less Reno & might be in a location maybe better suited for a man your age. I wish you only the best. Oh, & I bet Billy would be happy to have you back at the Convent in the interim. This comes from the mother in me.😊
When you started kicking that wall it reminded me of that poor guy who tried to kick that concrete fence wall and one of those block parts fell onto his leg crushing it. It was about 15 years ago. You can still find that vid.
LOVE the sliding door idea!
Thank you for sharing, look forward to future progress 😅
Ryan the wall would have come down easier if you looked at the door frame and did it from the inside of the room.
Looking forward to the renovations to start!
So much beauty, Ryan :) You get to start from the beginning and make something really special. Also, you have MANY places available to live while you are doing this reno. Keep going, you are doing fantastic!
Great progress!
What about setting up your studio in the tunnel? Also, is there any way to put in an exit to the outside of the tunnel? Bringing in natural light from the garden would make a beautiful workspace, even if not a studio, then a workshop or something. I love that you are taking this all on. It shows you are brave enough to take on the challenge. Great big hugs for you!🥰
The basement would make a perfect food stuffs pantry and maybe rec room.
That new camera is really nice. It was such a cool perspective! Felt like I was helping you tear down the wall. You’ve done so much work!
Good job well done Ryan x
