I feel like Ji-yeon and Sae-byeok's scenes have been part of one of the most important lessons in _Squid Game,_ which is that most people just really need a support net of some kind - financial, yes, but more importantly, social - to make their lives better. That whole time, literally all Ji-yeon needed was a friend. But her life felt so hopeless and isolated, she never felt she could reach out. If she'd just had a friend like Sae-byeok, she may have never entered the games at all...
So many of the players feel isolated from society and/or their loved ones. So many of them could have found each other and started a support group, maybe even worked together to figure out how to efficiently and swiftly pay off their debts. But, for whatever reason, they didn't. They were in their own cloistered little worlds, never crossing paths (I assume Il-nam intentionally bumped into Gi-hun in episode 2, and I don't remember any of the other characters meeting with each other after leaving the game and going home). All so close to each other, but emotionally, so distant.
The greatest tragedy of _Squid Game_ is that, the only time a lot of these people finally find themselves, "their people" (be it a real friend or just a reliable ally), a reason to live... it's already too late for it to mean anything. Gi-hun finds that out in the worst way, arguably, but Ji-yeon is a truly tragic and heart-wrenching close second - and, probably, also the most relatable one.
i would get my absolute life if Trixie & Katya reacted to Midnight Mass!!! That show has everything - spooky island mysteries, sexy priests, literally crazy religious bitches, 28-minute-long monologues, beachfront pussies, awkward old-age makeup, lesbians, and fabulous actors. It’s from Mike Flanagan, the same guy from Hill House & Bly Manor, and it’s so good!

These videos so ideal for someone like me who is too sensitive to enjoy a dark series like Squid Game but is still really curious about the show and what all the hype is about. I think because this is just a summary and has T&K's funny commentary, it allows me to watch it from an unattached place. I even found the violent moments less triggering for that reason.
Never not calling it Calamari Activity from now til the end of time.

Korean films/television are light-years ahead of the rest of us. The marble game had me sobbing to the point of throwing up, too. I knew immediately when it was pairs that it was versus, not teams, and I just lost it. The entire show is incredible.
