As someone who's gone through years of therapy, hearing Katya talk about the healthy coping mechanisms she uses (as someone with mental health issues) is amazing. The last few years of her life have been an incredible turn around and I am never not impressed with her commitment to herself.
I don't believe in therapy. We don't generally do that in England. America has the highest suic1d3 rate and highest uptake of therapy, so I think the stats agree with me too.
@@czhaok meh not really. Couldn’t really find recent data for England by itself but stats for the UK say that 28% of the population has sought therapy whereas in the US that number is 30%. So it’s not a very wide gap. While America does have a higher suicide rate than UK, Greenland is actually the nation with the highest rate of suicide.

American therapy has become largely behaviorism-based (CBT, etc) which is the therapy version of bandaid on a bullet hole. It’s a quick fix so that people can get back to being “productive” and keep the capitalistic system going, but it doesn’t last and often ends up hurting people more than helping in the long run. Therapy is good when it’s less about “coping tools” and more about just listening to the patient and helping them talk through their emotional wounds. I realize this is kind of off-topic but I just wanted to say everyone in this thread has a point.
