Thanks for watching, everyone. This was such a good part of our conversation with Donovan. Love his openness on the subject.
Love your content JJ. Incredibly refreshing. Keep it up. Kind regards from Holland.
I've never had a negative feeling about Donavan. But damn, talk about presenting himself well. His confident thoughtfulness just made me really like him. Usually in these interviews the people are exactly who you expected them to be. But this interview and the one with Ben Simmons are two that dramatically improved my impression of them.
Great job with providing a platform for players like him to express themselves. I'm definitely a new fan of both you and Donavan. Keep up the good work and thank you!
It's so cool to see a player so reflective on things that happened in their career while they're still playing because they still have a chance to rectify it. Can correct those what ifs next time unlike the retired guys. Dope discussion fellas.
True. I just want Chris Paul to get one. Steph is clearly top 5 player of all time let alone poing guard but Chris Paul gotta win one even if it's a Jason Kidd style ring.
I will tell you, the nuggets jazz series was one of the greatest playoffs I have ever seen from 2016-2020
facts
Nah no lie I watched almost every game that series and it was electric especially the one game where Murray and Mitchell both went for 50
Definitely a great watch I remember almost every game someone dropped 40+
It was crazy. Imagine they dueled like this in front of the fans, it would be talked about much more
📠 Every game had my eyes glued.
Donovan is so articulate. I love hearing him talk because he doesn’t really mess with words or sentences like he’s just so well prepared and spoken. Love him man
I agree. But most of the guys and great guests have been.
Some athletes and especially black athletes consider it a insult if your surprised that they are articulate. It's like a backhanded compliment
“Doesn’t really mess with words or sentences” wtf does that even mean 🧐
I swear I missed said this right before clicking on the comments. I could listen to him talk all day
@@sittinonthegodamcornerdoindope probably meant “mess up”
Relax bro, stop commenting the same thing everywhere
I think Mitchell should start a podcast at some point. He's a very good story teller, and also extremely articulate!
It's a lot of work for an active player especially a star player like him. I'm fine with him being occasional guest
I agree. He could pull it off if it's more like Pat Bev's vs Draymond's. Dray has to prep more, ask questions and lead the Convo. Pat's is led by Rone and he's just answering questions like Mitchell.
This what the league is all about. The NBA is so good at developing narratives without even trying. These kids are so hyped when they get to the league, they often forget what it's like to compete/lose consistently. Most of them are so used to being the best, they need that journey to fuel their hunger and be the driving force that leads them to the promise land. Can't become a champion without the journey.
I am glad Donavan did this interview. He is both humble and very intelligent. I am definitely a new fan. I will definitely root for him.
When JJ spoke about abnormal failures that devastate a team forever, the first thing that came to my mind was PHX vs DAL game 7. I hope my Suns can come back from this.
Man I hope you’s gotta face them again
They look great to start the season so far.
jj i love your show. i get distracted by first take, it’s like candy, after i consume i hate myself but when i watch your show i know more about the game & feel closer to your guests, thanks for bringing quality content to our world
If I see one more comment talking ab how articulate D Mitchell is….
fr💀
Blk ppl don't usually talk gud
Donovan Mitchell is so articulate
@@AutistikManiac so well spoken
Oh wow a black athlete can actually speak i must comment on it
I'm an avid Jazz fan, and I'd LOVE to blame the blown 3 - 1 lead on the 8 second call, but it's not Donovan's fault... Its a team game and the other team is good too, they came back from 3 - 1 twice that year.
Crazy thing is they won both series too. Talk about not giving up
JJ honestly you have one of the best sports podcasts out lately.....and the pivot.....both amazing
Damn, that last point felt like lesson for life- hit close...props to Spida for keeping it real
I aint gonna lie I wasn't the biggest fan of Donnie the past couple years. Wasn't a hater, but still not the biggest fan. Something's changed since Cleveland though. He's got a hunger to him and I see the intent behind his playing. It's already clear Cav's is one of my teams this year that I'll be paying attention to. It's glad to have him in the midwest.
That's how I felt about him but I'm rooting for him and the Cavs this year
cavs are my team, and it’s exciting to see the rise of them. i think Donovan being introduced to this young, hungry team is a breathe of fresh air. it makes him hungrier and want to work when he sees the others doing that. happy to see it
@@b34rsfan5775 I see him out there during timeouts instructing and coaching the younger guys like a 10 year vet and you can tell he has the IQ of one already. I’m a UofL fan so I’ve been rooting for him for a long time but even I didn’t think he’d become this great.
@@frightenedsoul exactly! he got the right situation and he’s happy to be there and the other players want him there, it’s awesome to see
It’s the honesty in the conversation for me. 💯💯💯
Looks like a great trade for everybody.. Jazz playing with real freedom and no expectations.. And the Cavs have all the right pieces moving forward
Great to see Mitch now on the Cavs, they could be a dangerous team come Playoff time and I’m a Miami Heat fan saying this.
Love how spida acknowledges Tommy too
Wow Donovan Mitchell is incredibly articulate. High IQ in basketball and in life it seems.
Did you expect athletes to sound like dude bro type of people? Haha
Isn’t that a fair expectation, though? Not every athlete speaks as well as Mitchell or McCollum or Draymond.
@@mjarcilla4395 It's just that if it was a Payton Pritchard or Josh Giddey joining the podcast, nobody would say anything if they spoke just like Donovan is. But since Donovan doesn't match those guys' complexion, many feel the need to call him "articulate" or "seems educated." Very backhanded compliments.
@@mjarcilla4395 you sound like you think most guys are stupid or something hahaha. I thought jaylen brown already broke that stereotype? If you give every player a chance to talk in a safe space like this, they would express themselves as well as any other player
@@jed949 Every player? Just because someone breaks the stereotype, doesn't mean the stereotype isn't true for some people. Not everyone can organize their thoughts well and speak articulately and openly about them, regardless of race.
this feels key 4:10 having that comfort compared to a team that needs to win
Love hearing him talk about this
D Mitch is very well spoken. Damn
Not really he just speaking like a normal dude
@@Anthony419oHave you heard the average person speak, lol? I think you're giving them to much credit. 😁
@@Anthony419o nah he speaks much more eloquently than me lmao
@@Anthony419o Yeah.....naw he speaks extremely well.

I liked Mitchell before this but i'm a bigger fan now. Hopefully success in Cleveland
Best NBA broadcast entertaining
This was a great discussion.
I didn’t know Donovan was this good. This man is a d wade lite true baller
Be way better then d wade lol
@@your.UNBIASED.NewsTalk he's not even close to d wade stop it
@@williamrisso3065 has the potential to become just as good though. He’s not as far behind as you’re implying either.
Man y'all are tripping with that "articulate" shot 💀
Mfs only do this w black athletes 😭
love how he mentions how him and conley were hurt but not kawhi 🤣
Exacty
Probably because it goes without saying, Kawhi is usually hurt lol.
Because they were gonna be in the series obviously lmao, kawhi was OUT. He clearly thought clips were gonna be an easier series specifically because kawhi was out, that goes without saying
JJ please interview Dwight so we get his perspective on making the finals, DPOY at a young age and his twilight years
He was just on all the smoke pod…
Donny Mitchell mvp contender this year for sure
Did anyone else notice Donovan's gold patek philippe nautilus? Any fellow watch enthusiasts out there?
Bunch of backhanded compliments in the comments wow.
White liberals
I like Donavan and his mindset. I was down on him like he was overrated but this gave us a different view of the brother
The way Donovan Mitchell talks reminds me of Kenny “The Jet” Smith lmao. idk why, both are very compelling speakers though
5:05 I wish Chris Paul would understand this one simple thing in clutch moments. It's the same thing that Harden falls back on when it gets scary for him in the playoffs.
Its an absolute tragedy that yall haven't done a segment on Paolo "the prince that was promised" Banchero
ID on the hat? 🔥🔥
the producer in me in wondering why on earth they're using 3 audio recorders
being a jazz fan hurts so much
Wow Mitchell seems like a very well spoken and articulate person
ask donovan where he got his glasses xx
That may have been the richest way to describe what it’s like losing a game 7. Like dropping a glass of burgundy. 🧐 🍷
Treat every single game like an elimination game in the playoffs. Same approach and sense of urgency from game 1 to 7.
Donovan is a smart guy. Very good critical thinking skills.
That Jazz pack still hitting after all those years
He'll be in the MVP conversation this year. Mark my words.
no lol
Idk about that
You are just bored
Depends how you mean it. If you mean like Ja, DeRozan, Tatum last year, then yes. If you mean like a legitimate candidate like Giannis, Luka, Steph, Jokic? No.
After 3 games he sure as hell looks like an MVP candidate.
Long season though, and I dont think he will average 30 all year.
Has a team ever went down to 3-3 after being up 3-1 and still win the game 7?
Ironically, Utah Jazz did against that Denver Nuggets team that upset Seattle in the first round. Pretty sure it's happened more than a team actually coming back, but both are very rare.
@@ppunch7050 thanks
LA Lakers - Portland wcf in 2000. and they were down 15 in the 4th quarter of game 7.
lakers vs nuggets in 2012 with metta world peace coming back for game 7
Bulls vs nets 2013. Bulls won in game 7 after being up 3-1
Seems scarred but unbroken by past opportunities that did not reach expectations. Matured.
Being up 20 is the new being up 10.
Yuuuup when you ain't gotta travel back and forth, on and off planes, then check into hotels, barely eat/sleep, then practice, then warm up all of that equals "FATIGUE" but when its no crowd... its jus YALL VS THEM..... WE GON SEE WHO REALLY LOCKED IN READY TO BRING THAT SHINY GOLD TROPHY HOME 💯💪🏾
I get it it might look like it’s about LeBron’s individual greatness this year but JJ I love LeBron as well he’s my fav player but winning, competing and happiness is what sports is to me and should be to everyone
Michael Jordan’s Bulls weren’t supposed to recover after getting knocked out repeatedly by the pistons but MJ took it personally.
JJ loves his wine 🍷
Does jj think his clippers could have beaten the 2014 spurs?
Yeah we messed up big time -Knicks fan 🤦
He looks like Kendrick Lamar here
I've always liked don but him being in Utah and that whole team outside of Jordan Clarkson just bothered me. I'm glad he got out of there
It was Rudy. The team was full of good characters. Bojan ks a good dude, Conley, O Neale, Niang, Ingles. All great personalities. Something smelled bad last year though for sure.
What's wrong with Utah?

@@yvnggoat4739 they lose 3 straight games
Get over it
What a long-winded way to say "when things go well I get nonchalant and when things go wrong I get anxious."
Donovan so far seems like a good guy to talk but not to win. 🤷♂️
The jazz are better this year.
Lol @ this topic and the thumbnail of the video. Why are you doing that to yourselves? It’s not what you were remembered for until now.
Early!
JJ went from a up and coming Star in the NBA Media realm to just ANOTHER COMPANY PUPPET. You sorry AF !
"We should use this season to celebrate Lebron" lmfao foh boy
GOAT James
That’s why the bubble chip is a joke, nba screwed that up
Rudy is not good enough to close games and that much has been proven true. When someone like him has such a limited skillset and is an offensive liability teams will send him to the line or force him to shoot the ball/give it up to choke and throw away games
This right here.. These are the conversations I'd rather listen to then to hear two old guys, who never played a sport, degrade athletes over every little thing.. I'm so tired of the "debate culture" that permeates throughout everything these days..
A pro player can't do 8-2=6
Rudy better
Nuggets were always better
Cap.
I see lots of white liberals in the comment section

I would say Referees or the NBA doesn’t want Utah Jazz to be win the Championship period. I quest!! It’s because is Mormon State.
Are you guys surprised that jj is well spoken too? Or it’s only black athletes lol
Wow this multi millionaire has the nerve to have a cash app, who’s still milking CZcams money and ESPN money as well as nba contract money born from privilege and played at duke…wow…guess that’s how the rich stay rich
This man is a bonafide first ballot hall of fame hater good god 😂
if you knew how much money they gave to sponsor something like that you would do it too.
