My personal belief is that the 3 pointer allows for greater variance in outcomes which helps Vegas make more money. Most games come down to simply who is hitting their 3 pointers, this helps betting be even less predictable, just my opinion. You can see the same thing in baseball with homeruns, leadoff hitters having 45 HR but a 185 avg. overall, it all helps make betting more profitable for the books. The more analytical they make game the more they profit.

Mudiay fails to explain here that Quin wasn’t targeting individual stats, he was trying to form a stretch playing style for the team, and open up the paint. Donovan was never a pull up jump shot player, he drove hard right into the paint, and became super predictable. By unclogging the paint gave the team options…. This was well known and preached often during the DM/Mike/Rudy era
But Donovan agrees with Muidays take….so it’s not just him saying this. But I hear you

Alot of the reasons why your favorite team is trash is not the players.....just like real life, it's the people you don't see but it's the players you get mad at.
The only problem is that a lot of players just aren’t efficient enough at shooting midrange jumpers to justify taking so many of them, or any at all to be perfectly honest. Analytics, in conjunction with film, is used as a tool to draw up the most efficient and effective offense, while also extracting as much impact out of players as humanly possible.
That is complete bullshit. You can’t get better at something by not doing it. Analytics only suggests a long 2, goes in at the same rate as a 3.

If you’re an dude who only looks at stats then cool. Midrange is actually a good shot. The warriors messed everything and team which are stupid followed their style when they don’t have the players to do it. An example in that playoff series when rockets was just chucking 3s. Boston did it too not too long ago.

Pretty sure Quin was asking for less midrange jumpers, he wasn't trying to limit Conley's floaters. Conley struggled at the start because he was on a new team for the first time in his career and he wasn't playing with pick and poppin Marc Gasol, he was playing with only rollin Gobert. Took a while to build up some chemistry and figure out how to give Rudy the ball after picks
