Burying children makes you into a completely different person.
I lost a son at 2 weeks old. I lost a son at 8 weeks old from SIDS and I had a 14-year-old son die in an auto accident.
People talk about that word "closure". Closure is a word that makes everyone else feel better.
But when the holidays, birthdays, and death days come around, there it is again.

My older brother died 14 years ago at the age of 14. My family has NEVER been the same. I can tell you from 1st hand experience: You NEVER get over it! The ONLY thing you can do is focus on the good times that you had with them. Remember that THEY would want you to keep living your own life. It's what gets you out of bed in the morning, putting 1 foot in front of the other & MOVING FORWARD.

This song was dedicated to his 4 year old son was died after falling 53 stories from a buidling high rise in 1991.
Eric Clapton was so grief stricken that he pure his heart when writing this song.
Conor Clapton 4 1/2 year old died Wednesday March 20th 1991, after he fell out the window of a 53rd-floor apartment, police said.
Conor Clapton fell shortly after 11 a.m. and landed on the roof of a four- story building next door, according to Officer Kim Royster.
The boy’s mother, Italian television star Lori Del Santo, and a housekeeper were in the apartment when he fell, Royster said.
Eric Clapton was in New York when the accident occurred, but he wasn’t in the apartment, said his publicist Ronnie Lipton in Los Angeles.
Clapton was examined and released from the emergency room at Lenox Hill Hospital afterward, said hospital spokeswoman Ann Warner. She said his condition didn’t require immediate medical attention but wouldn’t provide additional details.
The housekeeper had just finished cleaning the window pane and had left it open to air out the room when Conor ran past him and fell out the 4-by-6 foot window, police said.
Del Santo and Conor were staying in the apartment during their visit to New York from Italy, Lippin said. She didn’t know who owns the apartment in the sleek, modern Galleria Condominiums on East 57th Street.
Clapton, a founding member of Cream and Derek & the Dominos, is generally considered to be one of the great rock guitar stylists. He also wrote many hit songs, including ″Layla″ and ″Let it Rain.″
Clapton won a Grammy Award that year in 1991 for best male rock vocalist for his song ″Bad Love.″ Clapton’s agent, tour manager and bodyguard were killed in a helicopter accident the year before in 1990 that also killed blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Clapton was divorced from Patti Boyd Harrison - the ex-wife of Clapton’s friend, former Beatle George Harrison - in 1988. Boyd was granted an uncontested divorce on the grounds of Clapton’s adultery with Del Santo. Their son was born in 1986.
″It really felt special - a feeling that won’t wear off for a long time,″ he said then. ″It’s fantastic.″
In 1989, Clapton told an interviewer that he would like more children, ″if it was part of a marriage. My son was born in a very unstable relationship. I couldn’t see repeating that.″
This tragedy almost destroyed Eric Clapton and pure his grief into his music and the song became his biggest hit ever.
Eric Clapton also won album of the year a Grammy for this song.

Sending all my love and heartfelt condolences to all of those who lost loved ones out there...just know they never left you and they are not gone...they are in the afterlife now, they have reunited with loved one Who've passed on before them and they reunite with friends who have passed and even your past pets and course their spirit guides.
They still come around and send you signs ...you just have to be open minded and feel and sense them.
They leave pennies, coins, they visit you in vivid dreams...that is them visiting you...those are visits from the otherside.
There favorite songs will come on randomly, you will randomly hear there voices, lights flicker, you will see butterflies during unusual seasons and humming birds, you will see people who look like them so much, it's eerie, you will see there names on signs or just thinking about them, that means they are around you...that is them listening and watching you, they are still around...just not physically anymore.
They see you when you are sad and crying and they hold you when you grieve and lay next to you, you just can't see them....they are all happy, at peace, full of love and tranquility.
They only want there loved ones not to be sad and move on, remember them, celebate their life & memories and to live, love, laugh again...because they are all okay and happy at peace in the most beautiful place your human mind can't comprehend.
Once you leave this world your Soul, energy, spirit, love, memories continue after this life...it's never the end, it's I'll see again down the road however long that is...eventually you will see them again and reunite.
This life is temporary and we all connect again in the spirit world.
Just know they are all with you still...hearing you and hearing your thought and they aware of everything.

Eric Clapton was a strong and humble person from the start. In the 60's he was called God (because of his guitar playing) and he was only 19 when he was writing and performing classics. Even then he didn't buy into the adulation he received and was humble and never acted like he was anything more than a man playing his guitar.

"The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That's the only lasting thing you can create." Chuck Palahniuk

What a heartfelt reaction to this amazing song. Empress, you are equally amazing. Please know that, through the 'magic power' of the internet / CZcams, you have hundreds / thousands of people who feel connected to you, and feel like we 'know you', at least somewhat, and look forward to your reactions to bring a little light, sunshine, and sometimes tears into our lives.
I have a story that I have shared with only a few people, and certainly not publicly, since the time it happened in 1978. My 10 month old son Anthony died (without going into details, I was at work when it happened, he drowned in bathtub.) I was numb, and didn't/couldn't deal with it emotionally, and it ended up being the 'last straw" that broke up our marriage. A few years later, I read in the local newspaper (yeah, that's how most things were communicated back then) about an infant (one of two twins, I believe) that had somehow fallen out of an apartment window in Chicago and died. I don't remember the details, but somehow I found out the address of the young mother. and wrote her a letter, hoping to give her a little solace and conveying my own experience. She responded back to me with a telephone call - I don't remember the exact words (was about 40 years ago), but she was appreciative that some stranger would take the time to contact her. It also helped me to start dealing with my tragedy emotionally, but as others have said, you really don't ever get over the death of a child.

I’m so sorry for your loss. 2 years ago my cousin, Gile, committed suicide. His parents, my aunt and uncle, died within 2 months of his death. My boyfriend died 6 months later, also suicide. My high school sweetheart, and best friend, died a year later, from ALS. And my dad died recently from renal failure. All my life it seems as if one death kicks off a string of them. My brother, grandmother & an aunt all died10 years ago within 6 months. It’s quite disconcerting. Grief therapy can be helpful. But, I found that trying something new, or re-discovering an activity, helped me cope.

Can you imagine how strong a person has to be to go through this as a recovering alcoholic and drug addict and staying clean and sober through it.

people should really check into some songs, some background ,not just googling. It wasn't just sad, but tragic. Eric was standing in the living room of their high rise apartment, , his son on the balcony playing with the railings, and he went through the railing. Don't know how many floors, but they were high up, and Eric saw it

This song, Let it Be by the Beatles, and Once in a While by Billy Dean get me every single time. They all remind me of my daughter that I lost to cancer when she was just 17.

We only have 100 year's to live, that's not very long. Make good decisions doing the best you can.
Do we have all the answers? No we're not supposed to. If we knew we'd see our loved ones afterward no one would ever feel bad. This is a world of emotion and Lessons Learned.
If there's nothing afterward we'd never know. Live safe & smart.
