My beautiful Empress and Queens, I'm glad you enjoyed this video and this song. The sound you asking about in the beginning of the song is played on guitar by the guitar player, Richie Sambora. He uses a talkbox to create that sound by singing/talking while using the talkbox which is connected to his microphone. I can tell you many stories about a lot of the Bon Jovi songs, and I can make so many suggestions and requests to you.
In an era of hair metal bands, Bon Jovi stands the test of time IMHO. You can see in this video that they don't take themselves too seriously and their music is just basically good rock and roll, great hooks and catchy. This song is as uplifting as "Badlands" by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi's fellow neighbor from New Jersey 🤘

This album "Slipper When Wet", was the first music I ever bought in my life, I was 14 years old. Heard the song "You Give Love a Bad Name" on the radio and fell in love. The entire album of playable on repeat along with most of his other music. Great Reaction Baby Girl :)

Here's another song that has a similar vibe... Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." It has a hard rocking, soulful sound that was often used as a very patriotic "Yeah, America!" tune. However, if you listen closely to the lyrics it's actually a hard hitting expose on the forgotten Vietnam veteran who is down on his luck and dealing with the aftermath of war with nowhere to turn to for help. The lyric "Born in the U.S.A." is actually a plaintive cry kind of like saying: "why, America, have you forsaken your fellow man? Didn't I give you everything? My body and my soul to fight in a war made of lies."
And both are from New Jersey!

"Annie's Song" was written as an ode to Denver's wife at the time, Annie Martell Denver. Denver "wrote this song in July 1973 in about ten-and-a-half minutes one day on a ski lift" to the top of Aspen Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, as the physical exhilaration of having "just skied down a very difficult run" and the feeling of total immersion in the beauty of the colors and sounds that filled all senses inspired him to think about his wife.[2][3] Annie Denver recalls the beginnings: "It was written after John and I had gone through a pretty intense time together and things were pretty good for us. He left to go skiing and he got on the Ajax chair on Aspen mountain and the song just came to him. He skied down and came home and wrote it down... Initially it was a love song and it was given to me through him, and yet for him it became a bit like a prayer."

I'm new to your channel but enjoy your reactions 🙂. I don't see any reactions to Journey. Am I just missing them? They were huge in the late 70s-80s! Awesome vocals by Steve Perry and guitar by Neal Schon. One of the few bands that were better live.
