Eric Clapton is a genius. If you listen closely, the song is not Clapton talking to his son. It's his son in heaven talking to Clapton with all the insecurities of a 4yr old boy....cuz I know, I don't belong, here in heaven! Anyways, for all of you who lost a loved one, specially you Moms and Dads, peace in your hearts and remember that the memories are eternal.
Eric Clapton's 4 year old son Conor, was playing hide and seek with a maid in an apartment on the 53rd floor in New York City. Thinking that the balcony door was closed he ran looking for the Maid and ran straight out falling to his death. RIP Conor
Rush , the movie, is about an undercover cop who gets caught up in drug consumption, while working in an drug bust assignment. This song is actually about his son's death.
yeah i wish they didn't associate that movie with this song which was really written about clapton's 4 year old son who went running out of a very high story building window the maid inadvertantly left the window open
@@magnuswendin7924it would have worked so much better as a single. But I also think we might not have gotten it as it was made for him, not for an audience.

9/10th of the way through a song about the singer's 4 y/o son dying... "Yo, this just got deep."

It would be hard not to as it was on the soundtrack of Rush.

It was about the death of his 4 year old son that fell out of a multistory apartment over on your country.
The song is about his kid who died when he was on a balcony and the balcony went apart and his kid fell to his death
He accidentally ran through an open window that was left open by a cleaning lady from the 53rd floor .
the movie hasnt anything to do with this masterpiece of a song. Its gotte be up there on top 3 of saddest songs ever written.
rush was about 2 junkies, nothing to do with song
