Leorio is not trash you got to remember the character motive in the story leorio only wants to be a doctor to help people and kurapika only wants revenge and gon and killua want to basically have fun

Yup, a lot of people have already theorized that in the very first arc, the hunter exam, Leorio, strength-wise is one of the strongest (excluding Killua) in the main group with Kura and Gon. Technique wise not so much. If Leorio's goal was to become, nen-wise, fighting-wise, stronger then he'd match decently with some of the mid-tiers in this anime. But nope, he has a much nobler goal of just being a doctor.
I can’t wait till they see Gon’s real dad in action. Then Leorio won’t be trash no more🙂.

@@mrspikbolt Well in how far is it an ass pull? It's clearly shown throughout the show that gon is a natural talent like a super natural talent and how he (and killua, who is also a prodigy of his generation) exceeds from the average hunters (also look at both of their parents)

Funny thing about Leorio is that he's more or less the audience, the common person among freaks of nature (which is still a generous comparison considering most people wouldn't survive the Hunter exam or become a high-grade doctor), so in that sense, WE are trash. Anybody who thinks they'd be the Gon or Killua of this show is high off of something special.
Except he isn't trash, just not 1 in 100 million like Gon and Killua.

Leorio is on the same level as Kurapika, who only got stronger by putting his life in danger, and because of the eyes.
Originaly, in the manga I mean, Leorio was able to open the 4 Tons gates from Killua's house all by himself, while Gon and Kurapika could only open the 2 Tons.
In the next arc Leorio is not as strong as Gon and Killua because he is not focused on learning to fight, he wants to be a doctor and probably divided his time between training and studying.
ALSO Gon and Killua are lucky AF for getting Wing and a certain somebody to train them, who are AWESOME teachers.
All good anime have a character like that like Usopp in One Piece

They can't even say "troupe" right and that's an English word that is pronounced troop. This is ELITE intelligence in terms of fighting and overall story, since Nen/world building is so greatly fleshed out. So you gotta really read and comprehend whats going on cause some abilities and scenarios can be confusing its not really a talk during or turn away during fight scenes kinda show.

I like how they’re saying Phantom Trope instead of Troupe 😆 like a ghost archetype 😆 Watching this series again I realize how Hisoka is a mixture of Gon and Killua. That’s why he wants to fight Gon. He knows that Gon starts shaking for a good fight too, they do the exact same panels of how excited they are to fight each other. Both of them will injure themselves to the point of death to get the fight that they want, Gon v Hanzo, Hisoka v Castro. Hisoka wants to fight Gon and Killua wants to be his friend, but the writer wants to show us that Kill could easily become Hisoka and break his promise to his father to protect Gon. That’s why they make it a point to tell is that Hisoka and Kill are both transmuters in the heavens arena arc. If this manga ever ends, Gon and Kill have to fight. I feel like this whole story leads up to it and in a better way than Naruto and Sasuke.
Kurapika’s not really in this arc, but is heavily featured in The York New City arc. This is Gon/Killua’s training arc tbh. Just learning, like the viewers, what Nen is.
