For the math bit, this is a simple trick and no matter what number you chose you end up with 1. If you call that number x and follow each step, it would look like this:
Step 1 add 4 : x+4
Step 2 double it : 2*(x+4)=2x+8
Step 3 take away 6 : 2x+8-6=2x+2
Step 4 divide by 2 (notice how we multiplied by 2 then divided by 2 this is done so that the multiplier in front of x is 1) : x+1
Final and most important step take away your original number (which makes it so that your starting point doesn't matter) : 1
But don't let this distract you from the fact that bungee gum has proprieties of both rubber and gum!

@@topotu_7473 yea the fact that his immediate reaction to defend himself was to create a double (complex conjuration) rather than just shroud himself in the same nen (in this case simpler=stronger) shows that in the grand scheme of the show he was pretty pathetic.
Hisoka is not weak in any sense. He just has a weird attitude to let the opponents do whatever they want to do and he will naturally come to the fight unprepared. If Hisoka actually goes for the kill from second 1, opponents don't have a chance... considering you are even comparing to this weak opponent.

not sure if in the manga it was explained like this, it was too long ago since i read it, but i remember that in the previous anime version we didn't have the episode for the explanation, which is why the next episode with the teacher feels like a double explanation
I think most Nen users/Hunters in some way or another like seeing promising talent. And as you now know, Nen is linked to your mental state so in heightened emotional states such as excitement, your Nen will respond. That’s why Wing was “losing control”.

Hisoka is lowkey one of those superb characters with some insane likable characteristics, hes not a vilain he's pretty much the perfect anti-hero with a weird awkward power-kink but you can't hate the guy fr. Can't wait for you to finish this arc it's awesome
