- Solomonster reacts to the news that WWE Executive Producer Kevin Dunn, after four decades, is officially gone from the company. His departure comes after the Endeavor merger and with much of Vince McMahon's power waning and marks the start of a new era for the company in terms of its production. The decision was said to be his alone, but as you'll hear, some recent comments from the COO of Endeavor were a good indication that he wasn't going to be around much longer.

Kevin Dunn was so obsessed with "capturing moments" that he was narrow minded towards everything else. Other promotions like AEW are guilty of this as well. They hard cut to the fan cam during a sequence when that time should have been used to capture *that* part of the match. I wish that the next head of production really does put more of an effort into capturing the actual action first and everything else second. We don't need another "Angry Miz Girl" or "Brock Lesnar Guy." They come and go. You only get one shot to capture the return of a Hall of Famer or a legendary moment.
Other times, it's so hard to follow the action with Kevin Dunn's quick camera shots. It's like a monkey with Parkinsons is at the studio console.
The Undertaker lost at WM big eye guy is one they play a lot too.

The thing I hated the most was the quick zoom-in whenever a wrestler took a bump. That always drove me nuts.
Cornette mentioned that in a shoot interview after a heated verbal altercation and had to apologize for his teeth😂

So I was a WCW fan my whole life, back before it was even really WCW. So the WWF/E product never really appealed to me. I mean I watched it and there were stars I really liked. But I stuck with my southern rasslin.
Having said all that, I am very optimistic in the direction WWE is going in. They have great established stars, and they really seem to be bolstering their younger talent. For the first time in my life, I think I can finally say that I’m looking forward to seeing what WWE does from here.
One of the things that really chaps my hide that no one mentions about Dunn is the fact he “had a job for life” because of something his dad did! He got an extremely lucrative and influential job in a business that he’s ashamed to be a part of and he held it for decades and it wasn’t even on his own merit!!
My favorite Kevin Dunn production era was the 6 month period when we had to suffer through every single wrestler doing selfie promos where they'd put animated subtitles on the words they wanted to emphasize.
And by favorite, I mean it fucking sucked.

They HATE Dunn.
His old stuff was good. The run up entrances circa late 80’s/early 90’s were awesome. Now there are way to many camera cuts and less shots from the hard cam. They also zoom in way too much. But that is because they don’t present it as a sport. You literally need a hard cam and 1/2 floor cameras moving around ringside.

One of my high school classmates ran sound for WWE, and he said the best day of his life is when they let him go because he didn't have to work with Kevin Dunn anymore. It may have Dunn who fired, if I'm not mistaken.
He put a lot of years in but had overstayed his welcome about 20 years ago to be honest... Endeavour and their teams will improve the areas Dunn an in the past.
I blame him for John Morrison not becoming WWE Champion because he didn't like the way he wrestle. 🙄

For nearly 20 years we've all wanted them out because they were holding WWE down. Even the talent felt this way. This is great news. They're all but gone.
Those Mark Shapiro comments should scare all WWE viewers. He's basically asserting they'll sacrifice quality and keep that money for themselves, the way all large corporations act after they buy a formerly independent company

It's not really sad to see him go, the dude has been at it for 4 decades, and we've all grown up on the styles he helped produce. At the end of the day, I'm grateful for the times I loved Wrestling and he was getting some of the greatest shots of all-time.

There was a GIF or a short video clip a long time ago in a match involving Cesaro and it really felt like Dunn screamed "I WANTED ZOOM" to a headset, followed by the most hilarious translation from a steady camera to a lackadaisical "eff you dude" zoom in and out... I think that's ultimately the Dunn legacy
Now the next business move they have to clean the Vince McMahon stench left on gorilla position and the office.

THANK……GOD 🙌🏾 now in fairness, some of WWE production is top notch like their skits, show pr recap rivalry promos, hyping up a PPV but some of the little 💩 that they do under Dunn like the constant swerving of the camera backstage, just showing the name only on a titantron for an entrance for example…..reeks of changing the channel quality
People have mentioned the problems with the camera work and I second that, but I also want to see them change the entire presentation, mostly the set. Raw especially is so hard on the eyes. So much bright red, it’s so harsh and ugly. Also all of the LED screens, the digital ring aprons, the stupid looking ring posts…. It’s all horrible and it makes me enjoy the product much less even though everything else has improved so drastically. I miss the gritty feel of the late 90s and ruthless aggression era. It doesn’t have to be so bright and colorful and sterile looking. I hope someone can come in and transform it to something that’s still modern but gritty and not so bright and in your face. It should feel like a sport. It should feel like pro wrestling. Not some ride at Universal Studios. Fucking yikes

You should rewatch when Miz and R-Truth were attacking people. I think that was the testing ground for Shaky Cam because it was in full effect and especially obnoxious during those segments.

It wasn't just the shaky cam that they introduced around the time of the Shield's debut. It was also the rapid jump cuts they would do, often for no apparent reason.
Initially they would just do it during chaotic fights, but then for a time they were doing them during matches, even when the action was slower. I was having some motion sickness issues at the time, and it made WWE shows even harder for me to watch.
Cornett said the tape story is bullshit. Bucky Beaver planted the seeds or enabled Vinces worst impulses

I won’t besmirch the name of Kevin Dunn and that’s mainly because a lot of what we know regarding him is hearsay. I don’t know the man and can only judge him by the job he did at presenting the product on TV from the production side. And from that perspective? He was pretty good until the 2010’s. I think his direction was heavily influenced under McMahon and at the end of the day the buck stops with him.
He’s probably retiring cause he worked for 40 years. A lot of people tend to retire at around that time.
