I think if the XFL didn't fold Heyman would still be in charge of Raw. I also think when HHH told the Revival things might change he was thinking maybe Vince was going to fully focus on the XFL leaving WWE to HHH or someone else.

When he had hired Watts in 1995,most of the wrestlers like HBK(who got his start under Watts)Bret,Taker & Scott Hall were excited because Watts liked his wrestling to be real & authentic. Watts for those weeks had booked the matches & produced the TV shows & Vince loved them. I believe the direction in which Watts had suggested for the WWE to go at that time was ironically, an edgier type product like the Kliq had suggested

I hope in 5 years this is what wrestling looks like
WWE: Raw and Smackdown run by Triple H and his team they have consistent 3 million viewers
NXT and NXT UK run by Shawn Michaels
Main trainer in the PC Aj Styes and Daniel Bryan
They also did a show in Wembley Stadium and they no longer do Saudi shows instead they do PPV’s that aren’t in America twice a year and draw big crowds.
ROH: run by Paul Heyman and Marty Scurll and are on Spike. They are partnered with Impact and NWA and are drawing good crowds
NJPW: They are very big in America and they are partnered with MLW and they trade talents around. They also have a mini deal with AEW where New Japan can use Moxley and Omega and AEW can use Okada and Osprey. Speaking of those two. Okada is now the IC Champion and Osprey is the IWGP Heavyweight Champion creating that same Nakamura/Okada dynamic.
AEW: they are now drawing over a million viewers and rarely get 2 million and are on Tuesday’s away from NXT. They are still on TNT and their TNT looks good at last. They have a second show which is similar to Smackdown in 2012 but is also very good and successful, it draws 800,000 viewers but if the Dynamite the previous week drew lots of fans it sometimes gets 1 million viewers. They also do All Out in the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium and it gets a huge crowd and has basically the same amount of people WrestleMaina had. They also are on Sky Sports and all their PPV’s are on Sky Sports Box Office.
MLW: They are with NJPW and they are building the future of wrestling where some have gone to WWE/NXT like Jacob Fatu and Brain Pillman Jr and overs have gone to AEW like Alexander Hammerstone.
Impact have a strong TV deal and they are with ROH and there relationship has made good wrestling buzz.
Lucha Undergound: this is the hub where all non WWE wrestlers can wrestle and do some insane stuff, guys like Hiromu, Omega, Cobb, Rey Feniox and a cool masked wrestler (Okada) are all part of the cinematic show. They are apart of Netflix in all countries.
Vince McMahon is focusing on the XFL for the third time and is actually successful before feeling satisfied with his work and passing the company to someone else before retiring and going to WWE shows backstage just to mess about with the wrestlers, he has wrote a book and dose podcasts with Conrad Tompson probably lol.
That’s how I wish wrestling will look in 5 years. It won’t but that is my dream for the busines.

It seems like it was a combination of things. Lack of star power, and at the time Viacom didn’t want too promote 2 wrestling companies. Then of course the alliance angle centered around the McMahon family. I always think what would have happened if they waited a year when the aol contracts ran out

What people don’t want to admit.. the acrobatic indie style guys on the roster are not a draw. I understand creative plays a massive role with the development of these characters. But at the end of the day they do not bring any appeal to the audience at home or in the crowd. I know a lot of smarks get in an uproar when they don’t see their beloved new Japan, ROH guys getting the CM punk and Daniel Bryan moments, but there’s validity as to why they don’t deserve it. Guys like Seth Rollins, Balor, Kofi Kingston, Becky Lynch, and Askua are not what’s going to bring in mass ratings. Say what you want about a guy like Roman reigns, sure he’s not the greatest thing ever but he’s the closest thing to what was good about wrestling in the late 90s and early 2000s. Believe me, I fell victim into despising the guy but there’s a reason why they positioned him the way they did.

    • @Varone26
      @Varone26 Před 4 lety +2

MerrieMelodies Fan it’s not even just the look aspects. The guys in the 90s - 2000s had charisma and believability. Austin, Michaels, Brett, Jericho didn’t fit the body builder image but still did mass business because of their delivery and charisma.

The old man is gonna run is own business to the ground. As long as he keeps this territorial mentality over the "product" he will alienate all those stupid enough to have stuck with him all these years. And the thing is it'll be sad if it happens but wrestling exists elsewhere, and done better.

14:30 WWE has been doing this for the last DECADE at least. I'm doing fantasy booking of the Nexus on my channel and in it I say the exact same thing that Solomonster has said. I did put in the nostalgia in my re-booking videos but they have a secondary role. In my latest installment I have Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels as co-GMs where Hart represents Nexus since I build off of him being bitter about the Screwjob in my fantasy booking.

For all this talk about Bruce Prichard being a yes man or a kiss ass, I will say this: I find Smackdown to be a much more enjoyable show than Raw. Yeah it sucks that Heyman was used as a scapegoat, but if Raw really is the vision of Paul Heyman and Smackdown really is the vision of Bruce Prichard, then I honestly can’t be too upset about this.

Bottom line people are as a whole being worn out by too much wrestling. You have 5 hours of raw/smackdown in addition to 12 PPV's a year (sometimes 2 in a space of a month) THey either need to have some sort of off-season OR go back to the main 5 rumble, mania, KOTR, summerslam, and survivor series.

Paul Heyman isn't a genius anyway. If you look back on his work in managing ECW, all those storyline angles they did on ECW wasn't entirely Heyman's ideas. It was the wrestler's creative ideas. Heyman didn't know Raven was gonna do the Sandman's crucifixion. Everything was freelance in ECW, meaning the wrestlers can do whatever they want, and Paul Heyman let's them. He lets them go extreme and violent. That makes ECW unique than WCW and WWE. He also didn't do a good job managing ECW reboot. It's not freelance anymore. It's under WWE. Heyman did a horrible job on booking and advertising December to Dismembered. He only advertised 2 matches. If Heyman didn't create storylines in ECW, and failed to manage ECW reboot, that doesn't make him a wrestling genius. The only thing Heyman is good at was pushing the right people. That's how Smackdown 2002-2003 was a better show than Raw that time.
