As a veteran myself, it may sting but it has to be said…sexual assault in the military is more common than people may think. Many soldiers/sailors have stories similar to Ashley.

I don't know if SA crimes are more common among those deployed overseas. In my country, there were two very controversial cases involving American military men: gang rape of a 20 something woman and a murder of a trans woman.

Thank you for your service. Sexual assaults are pretty well underreported across the board but I can imagine in the military it's even harder and the cover up goes even deeper. Not exactly something that would lead to people watching those recruitment videos and wanting to sign up for.

It's horrific and I really am curious. What came first here? Vince McMahon sexually harassing this woman or this poor woman being raped, being told to cover it up and only later having her boss sexually harras her when he knew that she had been assaulted. No matter what happened it's awful but to me him harrassing her after she was raped might make it worse.

    • @dawnclark4635

Unfortunately, in most cases any sort of criminal liability most likely died with her or if the statute of limitations ran out prior to her death. In the US several states have laws on the books that stop a clock on sexual assaults once they happen. In Massachusetts, where I am, the law was put in place after the molestation claims were made against a slew of Catholic priests. I could actually sue the guy who assaulted me but it's been so long,it would be my word against his and it would probably be very problematic. Plus, I can talk about what he did to me in broad details but I have never fully explained it all except to my psychatrist. I coud not imagine what Ashley went through and it's just unfair she never saw the justice she deserved. Hopefully, the karma lawnmower is paying attention and the lawsuit and the feds are just the beginning of that lawnmower running Vince andJohnny Scumbag over.

Yeah, and maybe if she was provided the help she needed she would be. She needed help! She needed someone she could depend on to help her and she honestly thought that Vince and his gaggle of scumbags were going to do that for her. They weren't worried about her well being. They were worried that she was going to say something and it would come out that she had been raped at a military base. It's disgusting. Whatever a rape victim chooses to do in these situations you allow them to call the shots. You let them decide how they want to deal with their assault. Ashley may not have wanted the roster to know but she certainly had the right to confront her abuser and explore her options. She was not even given a choice! That's sad.

I'm gonna say it: I hate World Wrestling Entertainment, and everything it stands for! I grew up with the World Wrestling Federation, and even watched WWE (on and off) until like the mid to late 2010s. I even went to a live event in Hamburg, Germany in 2015. And the more these allegations pile up, the more I'm confirmed in my hate for the company. My heart is broken when I hear of things such as what happened to Ashley Massaro and what kind of a MONSTER Vincent Kennedy McMahon is. The entire McMahon family, including in-laws (I'm pointing at YOU, Paul Levesque), needs to sever all ties from WWE, and take responsibility for their actions (even if it's just moral responsibility).

This immediately reminded me of the CM Punk podcast interview where he mentioned having injuries and being rushed back to work and the internal pressure from the company for wrestlers to continue. Difference is, Punk was a vet with at least a decade or prior wrestling experience and wasn't the target of Vince McMahon's sexual harassment.

I remember the allegations and they always seemed credible to me hence my feeling of sadness when learning of her ultimate fate. These NEW details make me feel even WORSE. The level of mistreatment both physically and emotionally done to this woman was truly unconscionable. VINCE IS THE HEAD OF THIS PARTICULAR SNAKE. There is a reckoning coming for WWE that is long overdue and I only pray that my favorite people in that company, both in front of the cameras and behind them, were not directly involved in the evil that ensued throughout the years of Vince's rule.✝️🎯

These days there's alot of bullshit out there in the Gender wars, but with tales like Ashley's, it's just such a SHAME what happened to her and any real victims like this. It can't be denied. It's so obvious and detailed that it has to be true. Very heartbreaking. She really wanted to give Pro Wrestling a go and try her best. The way she's been handled is a disgrace.

Even today, many legitimate victims of sexual violence won't come forward out of fear. And not just women, even men are victims of said fear even outside of pro wrestling (e.g. in hockey, the sexual assault allegations by a player that were apparently never acted upon by the Blackhawks organisation in the NHL). People should not be afraid to have their voices heard, to call out those who harmed them and bring them to justice.

With reports like this you then have to review every claim made by the company that this or that diva was being "difficult". Or was she juat smart and advocating for herself. Was Sable a difficult diva who didn't want to learn to wrestle? Or was she just hip to the fact that she was hired for her looks and knew better not to risk injury if they weren't really going to invest in her training? Not everyone is a Trish Stratus. And I'm sure even Trish has skeletons buried deep in her closet that she's not ready to reveal. As much as Vince is a responsible and I'm still really hung up and annoyed with Stephanie. As a woman that loved to be the face of the woman's revolution, she saw the women just as Vince did. Except not through lust but with little care. But Aj Lee already called her out on that. Just throw everyone away.

He had to know eventually karma comes around

I feel so bad for ashley massaro. Let's be real we knew that john laurenitius would hire bikini models to be divas because he wanted to pressure them into sex. So yeah it makes sense that when they hire ashley, a former bikini model, that yeah they'd pressure her into sex. On the incident in kuwait it is horrific and i totally believe wwe not only knew but also pressured her into not reporting it because it was 2006, the working relationship has only been 3 years and it's positive PR for them because at the time the wars in the middle east was still seen favorable. It also makes complete sense that they would make her still wrestle while injured because we know how the wrestlers with that old school mindset worked. "You don't work you don't get paid" so having wresters do matches when they have broken bones until they are forced into surgery. None of this is a huge shock because anyone who's been knowledgeable about what happens in wrestling behind the scenes for a decade has heard of similar things happening. With wresters forced to work while seriously injured ontop of women especially being taken advantage of sexually. On the lita story just think how much pull they had in the company and still couldn't get the live sex scene changed. You had the top heel with edge, the top babyface and star of the company with john cena, and you have lita who been with wwe for almost a decade and had retired due to injury after carrying that divison with trish status. They couldn't get vince to stop a segment that is clear people weren't comfortable with. But again it's not a surprise because reportedly vince wanted to do a incest storyline with stephanie mcmahon which doesn't sound too wild when vince had his wife pretend to be a corpse to have a affair with someone infront of her, he joked about incest with the bastard son angle wanting people to believe it was triple h until it was finally revealed it was hornswoggle, and had stephanie mcmahon be in only her bra during shows ontop of once where she was spanked. Basically it was clear that unless you were super close to vince you did whatever story he had his mind set on. From teaming with god which i'm sure born again christain shawn micahels loved to his son in law fucking a manequin in a casket

I wasn't sure of the timeline of events between the sexual assault over in Kuwait, when Vince "allegedly" started getting all sex-pest after her, and when he enacted his petty vengeance over being rebuffed; after hearing all of this along with the Human Trafficking allegations, I'm starting to think Vince set-up that horrific event in Kuwait. Even if I'm wrong on the chronology, what does it say about McMahon going on the prowl on a Rape Victim?
Speaking of Vince finally being exposed, after hearing her part in Ashley's decline, Stephanie needs to face the same level of harsh scrutiny her dad is finally getting. I never want to hear her being praised for women's revolution in Wrestling when she not only did Jack Sh*t, but she was a detriment to Massaro's health based on what I just listen to; to say nothing of her stealing another woman's boyfriend ending her career (not to discount Triple H's part in that fiasco)
