Meltzer will say something along the lines of “this person is winning the title at the PPV”, and then when that doesn’t happen, Dave will say something like “oh well yeah he was supposed to win but the higher ups found out that I knew about it so they changed their plans to spite me”. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say that he was wrong about something.
Meltzer is pretty close with The Rock so I’m sure even The Rock didn’t know what he wanted to do.

WWE have been feeding him false information for decades now, along with his own fantasies, that accounts for how often he is wrong and then pretends he wasn't. The only reason he is more accurate with AEW is because they all want that 5 star rating and feed him real information.
Vince's entire end goal for doing Rock vs Roman in the first place outside of the mainstream appeal was for Roman to turn babyface again after it.

If you’re one of those people who are deadset on Roman and Rock having a singles match, do you not realize that the crowd is going to boo that match out of the building? Trust me, I should know what Philly crowds are capable of. You only have one shot at that match, and do you really want to waste it on a crowd that’s going to be committed to hijacking it? Do you really want the first match between those two to be more famous for the crowd reaction than the actual match? Cody and Roman was always the match for this year and Rock/Roman can always go next year with a proper year long build.

Even if this was a pivot and not the original plan, since when is it a bad thing to listen to your fans and give them something they want??? A disturbingly large number of people are acting like making WWE change plans embarrassed the company and is this major “gotcha”
The reality is that WWE smartly listened to their audience and is now poised to make more money than ever off of their happy audience
There are two points, 1. The more embarrassing part is the stories of the rock behind the scenes politicking and the company then making a move that was clearly not what the fans were rooting for and this is a company that ousted out Vince who was notorious for not listening to the fans. 2. There is also a disturbing large number of people that think this was ALWAYS the plan and that if the fans hadn't voiced their concerns it was going to be this which was highly unlikely.

If heel Rock was the plan all along they could've had him come in and big foot the match as a new board member and doing what's "best for business". Instead they made Cody look weak by giving away his spot. No Way was this the plan.

I think the best match is a singles match with Cody vs Roman Reigns. It would also be awesome to see Roman and The Rock aligned and have some tag team matches together like against Cody and Seth Rollins and eventually have a falling out where one of them turns on the other. Like if there's a slow build and some tension and frustration. I really enjoy a good face turn or heel turn.

The injury to Seth Rollins is only a 6 week rehabilitation injury. He would most likely be cleared for a tag team match, in which he doesnt have to do all that much, on February 24th. This is more plausible than most believe
I was at Mania29 and seeing Rock in a main event 11 years later would do nothing.
Sure, it’d be a block buster for WWE revenue wise. But it would expose Rock for being completely outta the game (and out of breath) 5 minutes into the match.
WWE made the right move. Rock doesn’t need to be in the main event.
And if WWE & TKO don’t wanna get backlash they will finally end this run of Roman Reigns. A huge majority of us don’t care if Roman passes Hogan especially since Hogan showed up to defend the title whereas Roman hardly ever does. And the same with this 1,000th win for Roman. So what on the 1,000th win. Many others got 1,000 wins yet no celebration. Roman as champion has run its course. If you’re gonna have someone pass Hogan for all-time longest reign as world champion do it when the champ shows up a lot and defends it. Not some part timer. And let’s face it it doesn’t matter if the champ is very popular, going nearly 8 years as champ doesn’t work in this day and age unless the results are legit like boxing & MMA.

Anyone wondering why the arena looked packed but only held 2000-3000, they have a stage specifically for boxing/ufc weigh ins that cut the arena off and give the packed look while only using 1/3 of the space.
Dude this is the best analysis I've watched of the situation. You're completely spot on. Everyone who booed Rock should know what we did was similar in a way to protesting in justice. They tried to completely ruin Cody's story but us smarks saved it.
With the way things went with that initial segment on SmackDown, this was the only way to correct their fuckup. It still doesn’t change the fact that they made Cody look like an idiot in that segment and basically have to retcon the entire thing, but it was needed. The Press Conference made this interesting by giving us a new heel character for The Rock, turning this storyline into a work-shoot, and confirming that it’s Cody vs. Reigns 2. I think Rock is gonna swerve Roman by making him think he’s on his side, but then he betrays him at Mania and helps Cody win, which leads to Rock vs. Roman at Mania next year.

I have the feeling that this, in the end, will be a Triple Threat. Exactly because of that “head of the table” dynamic between Rock and Roman. Rock and HHH will have a power struggle in kayfabe, with Rock’s powers as member of the TKO board becoming part of the story, and Rock will just add himself back into the match. For weeks Rock and Roman will be on the same side making Cody’s life a living hell as a united Bloodline front, but eventually Cody will plant the seeds of dissension exactly pointing out how little Roman feels like the “Head of the table” with Rock standing next to him calling the shots.
There will be some “friendly fire” on the last few episodes of Raw and/or Smackdown but the last episode will end with Rock and Roman apparently united beating up Cody. This sets up the implosion during the match itself. Ultimately Cody wins the match clean. But this sets up Roman vs Rock 1 vs 1 down the line.
The Rock in real life has been high chief since 2004. He really is above Roman
Randy, AJ, LA, Kevin, Sami, and Drew would be the perfect lineup for that chamber match. Not sure why they didn't just go in this direction.
Probably didn’t want KO and Sami fighting each other after all the buildup they did to make them friends again last year is my guess.
That way it would REALLY feel like a match for all the guys roman has already defeated

My point was that there's more star power in that particular lineup, and that you could have great matches with any one of those guys. Trips makes it a surprise opponent for Rock and it’s revealed to be Bron Breakker. The Rock still wins, but it’s a very tough battle for Rock, who may actually cheat (low blow) giving The Rock an air of vulnerability. My reasoning is This puts a huge spotlight on Bron giving him instant legitimacy, even in the loss. For Rock it can still feed into your proposed scenario, this time stemming from insecurity in having to cheat to win and feeling like he has to prove that he still remain respected as High Chief, by beating Roman. In turn this could give Bron momentum to go “trophy hunting” by setting aim on going after both the Intercontinental Championship (which clears the way for Gunther to take a step up and challenge whomever is the WHC, hopefully Drew) and after several INC defenses can challenge for the WHC.
Unfortunately due to stony cold being so tied into Vince I don’t think they’ll bring him back

The problem with the course correction is this….roman looks less than he was before rock showed up. Roman needs to be cemented and eventually put over by the rock.
What happens if WWE decides they want Roman to break Hogans record? Would it have been better to have Rock lose rather than Cody? Or does Cody have to win no matter what.
This whole scenario rubs deep..and again I'll say Vince Russo is right as far as behind the scenes..concerning TKO/Vince and the Fallout of who controls WWE going forward and it being a different WWE..But the pivot was totally right...Everyone knows what the fans wanna see...Rock vs Roman can wait.

Both Roman and The Rock will walk out of Mania as World Champs, The Rock and Roman will tag against Seth and Cody at the Chamber with the Rock going over and beating Seth to be added to the World Heavyweight title match making it Drew Vs Seth Vs The Rock with the Rock wining the title and being Raw's Tribal Chief and Roman will go on to beat Cody breaking Hogan's streak and then he will eventually lose to Cody prob at MSG. Then The Rock will start to outshine Roman leading them to but heads and have a Match at next year's Mania for the World Heavyweight title so both The Rock and Roman can help make that title on the same level as the WWE title and Roman will retire the Rock and be the new top guy on Raw for the Netflix deal.
