I grew up on it. Polish mom. My parents lived till’ 94 age each. Love it.
Good stuff Maynard. ;-)
Oh yes. I religiously eat sauerkraut or kimchi every day, unless I’m fasting. And all home made by me 🥰😋❤
Love it.. did this. A scoop with my salad it's amazing and easy to make cheap to buy
Fermented vegies are not cheap to buy - they can only be found in a cooler and the label must say - Non Pasturized
Excellent Dr Gundry I have been fermenting my own sauerkraut for the last 8 months the benefits are amazing, GOOD work.
I actually mix my sauerkraut with cottage cheese. I know, it sounds weird and not sure if everyone can have cottage cheese in their diet. But it does taste good. At least, to me!
I find that adding EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) at the table to my sauerkraut and kimchee makes it taste less sour and salty. I am making sauerkraut now and like to add fennel and raw beets to the cabbage.
I’ve been adding fennel, too. So good! Sometimes I add a smidge of chopped ginger. And garlic, always.
I eat almost every day bio not pasteurised sauerkraut here in Switzerland 🇨🇭never had any issues with my bowel it’s the best for your stomach and the Vitamine C amount is also very high !
Been eating kraut and kimchi for a few days, been doing really well with them
I love Sauerkraut, I often make it myself. The only problem is it affects my arthritis negatively. So much so I have had to give up all fermented foods. Fermented foods also include pickles and olives, even canned tomatoes.
Great presentation! Thank you!
Thank you for your best advice
Learn something new each day !
Thank you Dr. G!
Great show
I swear by my natural whole food prebiotic. I think you need both. I eat a medium red potato with olive oil or ghee, fresh steamed kale with raw kraut or kimchi 😊 keeps me regular, not bloated, sustainable energy
My next batch will be fermented garlic
Fermenting removes the sharp sting of eating garlic. Makes garlic friendlier
@@HisHumbleHoliness I cut and chop and take on an empty stomach with just enough water to get it down nicely. It will kill any cold I have had and using garlic in 5 hours or so. Need to repeat at least 2 x day for at least 3 days. I cook with garlic a great deal also
I grew up eating homemade sauerkraut and hot dogs. Love the stuff
I usually eat kimchi 😋, it is some to sour but what I do is I put high quality olive oil on top and Balsamic glaze drizzle. Yum.
In Croatia we eat domestic sauer kraut from September to May. It’s basically our National food. 😎 Crispy & sauer! We akso eat it as a stew with beans.
Sauerkraut has been 'easily accessible and readily available' for centuries... Just a head of cabbage, some salt, a jar, and some time
Thanks a lot for your beneficial information! I adopted your lectins free diet and I love my new way of eating. I have two questions. I buy sauerkraut from the store. Sometimes I simmer it with onions and olive oil. It tasted delicious! Am I killing its benefits? Plus, I tried to ferment cabbage with water and salt and after a few days it smelled like ammonia or something like that. I threw it away. Did I have to throw it away?
You don’t need to add the water. You can check out Clean Food Living for how to make sauerkraut. I’m impressed with the depth of her fermenting knowledge.
You don’t need to heat sauerkraut because you kill the bacteria. Cabbage shredded, salt, if water to cover vegetables and put the bottom of the cabbage to push vegetables inside . Please subscribe to my you tube channel under my name dr samiera Sadoon al Hassani and see my video sauerkraut, how to make it , principles. It is our Babylonian culture and do fermented foods, vinegars. Very easy . Go for it.
Can you cover over the diet that people with mastocytosis and histamine intolerance should be consuming?
Have been making my own kraut for almost a year now and eat it every day. Have lost over 50 lbs.
Pls tell us how to prepare it
@@kallachnadra Salt and cabbage are only ingredients. Use salt to wilt the cabbage for two hours then press into a jar. Let ferment for two weeks, then move to the refrigerator and eat to your heart’s content!
How about okra seed? Is it safe to eat?
I recently started eating sauerkraut, the kind in the refrigerated section, for a few weeks now. I like it on sandwiches and of course hotdogs and brats. Even on cheeseburgers. Didn't know how healthy the stuff is. The taste took a bit of getting used to. Doubt I could eat it by itself.
I slather my homemade sauerkraut in olive oil before I eat it!!
Put some paprika as well
So garlic retains alacine when fermented?
If feritin is high i was told fermented is not recommended how is that doc
So is the same to eat the supermarket tyoe which is pasteurized or the raw unpasteurized organic you get like whole foods store?
I like Bubbie's in glass jar refrigerator case not the one in plastic square jars of another brand
Is it possible to use apple cider vinegar as a fermented food?
Yes, because they ferment the apples ✅
Why do so many other doctors say to eat all veggies including peppers, tomatoes? Who’s right??
I tried... 😓 could not do it. I hate the taste, absolutely hated it! What do you recommend for those who do not like the taste?
Did you try kimchi? Much better taste.
Does drinking beer or alcohol ruin these effects and benefits?
1 red wine per day is a staple of Italian centenarians. Other alcohol is just toxicity with no benefits. Not just the alcohol, but the grains are inflammatory... double whammy
Probably. I’ve been doing my own research and beer/alcohol absolutely kill the good bacteria. Not sure about red wine but probably too much of that too is bad.
@@nataliemp29 darn I thought so, he eats ok, healthy and right, but the beer is a concern of freight.
So it's just as beneficial to eat Sauerkraut that has been pasteurised?
So is it OK to heat saurkraut?. I always heard it ruins the benefits
It kills the bacteria. You don't want to heat any fermented foods
Do not heat - Cold or room temperature is OK
@ethimself5064 he's saying, though, that you get the same benefits from canned that have been pasteurized
@@ItsMe-sq8em No one does not whatsoever
@@ItsMe-sq8em, pasteurized literally means killing off microorganisms

I’ve been giving my 98 year old father homemade sauerkraut with garlic, every evening with his salad for the past 2 months. He loves it! I didn’t know about starting slow. Oops…But no ill effects at all.
I love sauerkraut I buy the big container from Costco
You will get sick and tired of it?🤔
Do fermented foods cause cancer?
No

This episode again is packed full off nutrients.
Is store bought saurkraut likely to be pasteurized?
Does that matter?
YES - If they are in a cooler and the label says - Non Pasturized.
Buy sauerkraut from the refrigerated section. It should state on the label that it has live cultures.
@@HarrisPilton789 Or - Non Pasturized
You can buy excellent sauerkraut at Costco.
@@skeptigal4626 Only if it is not Pasteurized
Good advice, but be aware of colon cancer risk associated with too much Kimchi!
🤢
No...not eating sauerkraut EVERY day! Get real!
I believe this guy should use some anti-aging techniques. Before it is too late.
What will happen? You’ll kill your kidneys in no time!
This guy contradicts himself sometimes. In this video he says it's safe to eat fermented foods because they remove the Lectins, and then another video he says you can't eat sourdough bread, which is fermented, because it still has lectins. I'd be careful with some of the information he puts out. I almost went to the hospital due to shortness of breath, low blood pressure, and fainting spells because I consumed too much olive oil due to his teachings.
