Please note the Sauerkraut I show in this video is pasteurised which means it won’t contain a lot of the benefits I go through in this video. However I have recently made my own raw sauerkraut which will contain all of these benefits.
✅ See how I make my own Sauerkraut here (So quick and easy): czcams.com/video/2bt1289oZUU/video.html
It is very easy to make sauerkraut. Cabbage, water, salt and 3 weeks to let it ferment. I also eat raw turmeric rhizomes with black pepper and sauerkraut during one meal each day. I feel better, sleep better and have avoided getting a cold and flu when others are sick around me.
Amazing yes I’m about to start making my own Sauerkraut!!

Doc. Just stumbled on U & love the content. Never heard of s....Kraut buh will try. Does it have same effect as KEFIR,NATURAL YOGHURT,FERMENTED MILK OR COMBUCHA?
U got a lo❤ely voice 2.Stay healthy & blessed Y'all. Thanks
I do the same thing! It's amazing for the immune system as well as reducing inflammation.
I had a problem with excess triglycerides - ate sauerkraut regularly and, after a year, blood tests revealed that my triglycerides level had normalized. Please consider recommending it for that purpose to your patients.
I don't use sauerkraut as a food, I use it as a supplement...2-3 big fork fulls every morning. I also make my own...it's simple.
I was wondering how much to take each day. When you say in the morning do you do this before you eat anything for the day?
Sauerkraut is good food. Supplements are used when your diet is crapor you have an illness.
No found it at 70, ate it , love it . daily. keeps you perfectly regular, just brilliant for the intestines
I am obsessed with sauerkraut!!! I have been on a mission to improve my gut health for the past 3-4 months (perimenopause wrecked havoc on my gut and other things as well) and sauerkraut has been my go to amongst other things. I eat it everyday with pretty much anything 😂
Yes amazing I love it too!!
Omg 😮. THANK YOU!!
I am going on 44 and believe I am and peri- menopause as well.
I couldn't for the life of me, figure out what was wrong with me!😢
. I found a really tasty all- natural kind. And it has been a total game changer in so many ways!
I have had so many bladder infections in the past year. My test results come back normal except for my urine. I think it is a common cause of peri meno.
If it weren't for this delicious stuff in the jar. I wouldn't know what to do. ❤. So many antibiotics... nothing helps ... not to mention- this stuff fought off all the potential (you know what infections from those antibiotics)😒
Did your gut improve during these 4 months of consuming sauerkraut ?
how do we know if its pasteurized?
My wife is Polish and her family grew up on it and introduced me to it as well. It is an acquired taste but like the doc says, I also eat it along side other foods in fact I use it like I would use coleslaw. Thanks for the video.
Saurkraut is lovely, Particularly the Ruby SK , love it with Steak or sausage, And mixed with sardines is incredible
I've started eating sauerkraut and I'm poohing like a horse. Great stuff! 😊
Haha that’s an interesting result 😂
@@drstevenhulme Thanks! It's ashame I have to trawl the Internet to find out what I should eat in my diet as a must. Enjoy your treats but try to keep it as 20% of your diet I'd say. We should be taught this from primary school. But it doesn't suit the cooperate narrative I guess.
🤣🤣

I love sauerkraut now. I make my own and put garlic cloves in it, with a touch of ginger and chili flakes. My latest batch has jicama, too. It’s doing wonders for my immune system!
Can you please write down your recipe? I started buying sauerkraut and eating it for a couple weeks.
@@davidz6490 basic recipe is this - I put the ingredients in a bowl and weigh it. Cabbage, peeled garlic cloves and whatever else I want. I multiply the weight of all ingredients by 0.020 or 0.025 for a salt content of 2% or 2.5%. I weigh in grams. There are some really great videos here on youtube. My favorite is CLEAN LIVING. She really knows her fermentation science. Homemade ends up being about a third of the cost of store bought, and I love being able to add whatever I want, especially the garlic!
Sounds delicious!
Thank you Sir for sharing this insightful information😊
Informative video, thank you!
The one you’re holding is pasteurised. It may be worth changing that part of the video or adding links to sauerkraut products that are rich in probiotics; People may buy Baxter’s and not feel the benefits due to a lack of probiotics :-) the refrigerated brands contains live probiotics and some jarred products do, so long as they are unpasteurised
thank you for this information i have inflamation and gut issues so will start on this
Thanks for the valuable information. Which one is the better red cabbage or white cabbage sauerkraut?
Love it!
I love unpasteurised raw sauerkraut. I usually get the caraway ones, red cabbage ones and also the beetroot ones. Delicious and great for your gut
👍🏻 great explanations! Having gut and constipation problems for years I recently have had some relief from eating homemade cabbage soup (very simple to make). I feel the cabbage based soup and the sauerkraut share similar benefits. Going to try the sauerkraut! 👍🏻😌
how has the sauerkraut gone for you
sauerkraut brilliant for the gut. amazing
Google says 1 cup has over 700 milligrams of vitamin C
Daily recommended is about 90.
Also Daikon radish is high on C with no sugar. As fruit does,
Thought for those cutting calories and diabetics
ahhaahah, probably need 7,000 actually. that level prevents scurvy, not maximise health.
I agree with @lauchlanguddy1004 - the minimum daily vitamin requirements don't seem to be updated as research shows more uses of vitamins.
The 100% vitamin D dose is enough to prevent rickets, but way below the amount needed for its more recently discovered benefits.
Also, with vitamin C, if you get a cold or flu, you will use up the stores very rapidly, so take extra.
I will add to my next grocery list ! 😊
subbed. love theese "benefits of..." videos.
I have enjoyed sauerkraut since I was a child. But I didn’t know the health benefits until your video. Also my 67 yr old uncle does not have a colon or gallbladder. Will this help his gut issues? Thank you so much.
can you survive without a full colon, what does he eat, does he poo normally? I don't think sauerkraut would benefit him because gut microbes live in the colon
New subscriber.🇺🇸🇵🇷
3 or 4 softboiled eggs with melted butter and saeurkraut ...very good.Add the saeurkraut after the eggs have cooled down a bit so as not to kill the bacteria.
Yes, I love it with my eggs too!!
I love this food
Kimchi doesn't have to be spicy. I make mine with Napa cabbage which is tender, and works well with other veggies you might partner with it. Easy to make. Don't buy the crap from the grocery.
My gut didn't like organic sauerkraut. I ate it for about 2 weeks in December. Since then my stomach constantly makes noises when I drink water, eat food. And my stool has become darker. I gave up sauerkraut and my stomach is slowly calming down. My experience seems to be my gut bacteria did not improve with sauerkraut.
I keep hearing "Thats how I take it" and im picturing a pill or something 🤣 I usually eat mine!
I may be wrong, but hasn’t store bought sauerkraut been heat treated which destroys the good bacteria.
Being of Eastern European heritage I’ve made my own sauerkraut for many years. Salt, cabbage nothing else just a few weeks to ferment.
How much do we need to eat to see benefits?
It taste great.
Is the benefit in the cabbage itself? I'm asking because I've only been able to find sauerkraut in plastic jars and i've been putting the cabbage in a straining and running water over it to get rid of any nanoplastic particles. Am I defeating the purpose of the sauerkraut by doing that?
Yep. You’re wrecking it. Lots of videos on how to make it! So very easy, and inexpensive.
The baxters brand is unrefrigerated and pasteurized. Try Vadasz sauerkraut from the chiller in Tesco, Waitrose, proper raw and full of microbes.
How about kim chii
Kimchi is amazing and often even more nutritious due to the other added ingredients.
Thanks for another great video! Surely commercially, & processed sauerkraut is finally pasteurised, & like fruit juice, the vitamins, & good bacteria are long gone? Also probs has added sugar & other additives? So actually it might be an unhealthy choice? Yes I could make my own, but life's too short 😂.
I think you are correct. I buy sauerkraut (and kimchi) in the refrigerated section of a local health food store. It is not pasteurized hence the need for refrigeration.
@@binglamb2176 That's a great tip, much appreciated, thanks 👍
👍🏻 great explanations! Having gut and constipation problems for years I recently have had some relief from eating homemade cabbage soup (very simple to make). I feel the cabbage based soup and the sauerkraut share similar benefits. Going to try the sauerkraut!
Find a local producer of live culture Sauerkraut, seek and you will find.
@@binglamb2176 "Boars Head" makers of all the deli meats has a refrigerated kraut.
I consume most days but I purchase the organic unpasteurised one from Ocado.
Hello,
Do you mind sharing the name of the product you buy from Ocado? I shop on Ocado too but can only find unpasteurised organic kimchi. Thank you!
@@melmel2500 unpasteurised is the best
I buy raw, unpasteurized saurekraut at Sobeys
Its a product from New Brunswick, Canada. Start out with a little bit at first. Too much and your gut may not be happy. Remember alcohol is not good for your gut health
how do we know if its pasteurized or not , I got mine today at a health food store.
WHY, the music?????
Because they think we must always be 'entertained'. It's stupid, tedious and the music boring and probably AI junk.
At 1:00 you show a picture of lettuce not cabbage. We have so much bacteria, 2-5 pounds, in our stomachs? Really? Or did you mean to say in our intestines, mainly in our large intestine-colon? It’s important to mention that it should be RAW Sauerkraut as much of the Sauerkraut for sale in supermarkets has been boiled before canning which renders it absolutely worthless. There’s no live, beneficial bacteria in boiled Sauerkraut. Raw Sauerkraut will say so on the label and it will be found in the refrigerated section not out on a shelf.
All fermented food is good for you including fermented sausages !
The thing you did not mention is, if you buy sauerkraut from the store it is pasteurized and most of the good bacterial is killed in the process, the only way to get the full bacterial benefits is to make your own, I found this out after years of eating store bought.
You can find some store bought in the refrigerator section that is all natural. Trader Joe's has some, Natural Grocers, and Whole foods market also.
Do u have any videos on Candida / SIFO / yeast?
No I can’t say I do
Dr Eric Berg has plenty of videos on those topics
I used to eat a lot of cabbage, then I would wake up with agonizing intestinal pain that lasted all day and nothing helped it. It happened 3 times and I ended up going to the ER, I figured it was the cabbage and I stopped eating cabbage and the pain stopped. Would SauerKraut do the same thing to me?
There must be something in cabbage that your body can’t deal with. It’s possible that the fermentation process would change it enough that you would be ok but I guess you wouldn’t know without trying.
You might have SIBO
I eat everyday, so healthy
Someone said it was loaded with vit k2 which directs calcium into our bone and not arteries is this true?
Yes I believe so
I love it so much I can just eat it out of the jar!!!
How much do you eat a day? Would a third of a cup be enough to get the benefits?
Yes!
Hi, is that jaw of sauerkraut off the shelf? Is it pasturized? If so the probiotic benefits are dead.
Well then, very good indeed. Thsnks.
@@drstevenhulme the baxters brand is unrefrigerated and pasteurized. Try vadasz sauerkraut from the chiller in Tesco, Waitrose, proper raw and full of microbes.
Yes you’re actually right. This is why I’m going to make my own now.
@drstevenhulme I'm on the verge of trying my own! I've grown to love the stuff after a few weeks! Just need a jar, some none iodinized salt and filtered water and hopefully I won't make a pot of mould lol. 🤞
Wasn't an acquired taste for me. My very first spoonful was when my brain exploded, and I knew instantly I was hooked. I make a jar myself now every week, and variations of it like kimchi. If you're buying it from the shops, make sure it's not pasteurized, as this defeats the whole idea by killing off all the friendly bacteria.
I eat mine with red hot links, soo good
due to salt content in it, it causes high blood pressure???
you balance it with potassium it reduces salt in our body
high blood pressure is a symptom of pre-diabetes. High insulin in the blood leads to sodium retention, hardening of arteries and magnesium depletion which manifests as high BP.
how much to eat per day?
I eat around a tablespoon with lunch and dinner everyday
Just it has a lot of salt too.
If you heat/ cook it, it loses its health benefits
I find it unpalatable. Eat it by itself and just endure the taste 😅
I started. Now I sh#t like shaq
It's delicious in hot dog
I tried some its fucking grim
It’s an acquired taste 😉
That's so funny!
Try starting slow and adding to other food
I mix about a tablespoon into mashed avocado with some chopped tomato, put a little mayo on a
sturdy whole grain bread ( I use a whole wheat Eng. muffin toasted)…heap on the avocado/ tomato/
sauerkraut…the best part….crank out some fresh cracked pepper on top…..really very good… I thought in a million years I would not like sauerkraut….I love it like this
But I had to laugh at your comment….do not start out with a naked full tablespoon of the wicked
stuff 😂
Some things grown ups eat because they're very healthy and not so much for the taste...
Sorry, you put Doctor in your title. No thanks.
What?
Kimchi is better.
Any sexual health benefits
No, leave it alone
