Finding out this game has a community is insane for me. I was first introduced to these games by this one really really socially inept nerd in elementary school who really wanted to show me Monster Rancher Advance 2 and was enamored with the password-generation technique. I thought it was neat too, but never actually got around to playing any of the games until a few years ago where I took my hacked 3ds and really started looking for PSone games to play on it and got really into mr1&2. I've been playing DX on the switch lately and I've also been enjoying it. But i've always had the image of these games as being kinda obscure just from how little info there is on the internet, how widespread all the info is, and how much of it was just myths and hoaxes. So it's been really neat to find your community and see that I'm not alone, whoa.
To note: Eggplantern from Green Day, Father of all... has the same super speed properties. As a bonus his shell is all glitchy in his model. Also he get +1 on pull and shoot so he is even easier to transition after you max speed.

Seeing waranmo fills me with such unbridled rage. He got 2 tasty bananas in a row and healed to make it so I lost to him in both the first match and that tournament's rematch

There are very specific monsters that give me war flashbacks. Waranmo is definitely one of them
I used to play this game on my ps1 as a child. I'm so happy with the remaster they did. I'm definitely a casual on the game but its still fun to play.
There is a dude called Carmine in Major 4 and other S rank tourneys.
He doesn’t seems to give a damn about speed.

I read somewhere that Type 3 lifetypes responds well to paradoxine since it has a super long childhoods.
16:35 I mean, as you said yourself there's a competitive scene because we got brain worms. The game certainly allows it, but doesn't try to sell you on competitive/ cooperation with other players (like trading in pokemon, debatably battling as well with link cables, stadium games, etc)

I was gonna figure out which disk gave me a monster with only a high stat of 12, but this beats that one. Wow.
I got a Henger like that, always has insane lifespan. Like 16 as a baby speed gains from the heavy drill. It had the same terrible starting stats.

What are your thoughts on plant Disc chips adding 10 life weeks instead of crab claws? I figure you can get the extra 100 total stat points within 10 weeks to whichever stats you'd like, but I don't ever see people talk about it
10 weeks barely matters, just get +1 chips on a bad statgain you want to focus on instead
I just realized that with this, Troton or Paradoxine while you train speed means you'll have the ultimate baab that can smear pretty much any comp reliably within only a few months time.
Could you do a ranking based on monsters "stock" ability? Like stat gains, lifespan, difficulty/ease in obtaining great techs? (Without item use)
Would be a great list, I would watch even if the stream is 4 HOURS long!

This is great, but for a total newbie I'd recommend a Sueki Suezo and a Kato/Dragon, as long as the Kato/Dragon spawns with higher Ski than Pow, you can combine for another Kato/Dragon with over 400 Life and Defense. Huge headstart and they learn about combining!

@@TheJarlath9 it's a 6% chance to get a Kato/Dragon from that combination, so you have to keep trying (the other results won't have those stats). But that's the secret about combining: the better the stats match between both parents and the baby, AND the rarer the result is, the stronger the baby will be.
@@LordGangrel Bit of an exaggeration there. You can get a draco kato with like, 270-300ish life and and about 170-200 in all the other stats. It's still good but that's a far cry from 400 life and def.
Ok, 4th attempt, let's see if it lets me reply now... That combination gives up to 417 Lif and 430 Def. I've gotten 400+ in both, but worst case scenario you get late 300s.
The other stats are exactly as you said. Int and Ski get no boost, Pow and Spd get a slight but noticeable boost.
@@LordGangrel I guess I'm going to have to test this because I'm using the calculator right now and the absolute max stats for sueki + base stats draco kato are 319/150/199/137/150/181

Any tips on raising POW monster with spd as its defensive stat? It is very hard for me to train that kind of set up. (Usually Spd types are easier to Int type where as POW type is easier for DEF types)
just focus on power until prime and then only train speed in prime until its where you want it to be.

so im pretty sure this method has been nerfed or it doesnt work on the steam port of the game as my stat gains are super low regardless of training and nature favorite food etc.
What are all the monsters with these special stats? I know of Sueki Suezo and now this jell.
I think there's a Hengar/Dragon with similar speed stat gain - as a brand new shrined monster he gets 20 in heavy speed drills
I play Age of Empires II. If Koei Tecmo took as much fan input as Microsoft did with AOE2, Hard Mode would be canon now.
I started with gordish this time, he's not great but starts with twister claw 😆

@@KyleJohnsonVA it's possible it's based on the specific arena too. Any move with a zoom out tends to break the camera in this game,. i think ape's big banana is the worst.
Wait a Minute, they have a lot of these 1 or 2 digit monsters in the game. Do they have some significant Stat Gains? I think I seen Henger with 74 Stats and a Worm 54 stat all around from Tomato's MR2DX Stream.

Because of the way the game is set up adding additional stuff instead of just replacing textures would be really difficult

Why is speed maxed at 800? Do you get nothing significant between 850 and 950?
Form. -100 form (Skinny) gives you a large % buff to speed. It lowers defense by the same proportion.
If they are fat, it's the opposite.
No other effects.
@@TheEutrophic well fat monsters gain more fatigue from battle but yeah, that's pretty negligible.
Are there any other monsters with bonkers stat gains like this Jell? Or is there a resource with a list of cds/monsters with this quirk/bug?
(Maybe a monster with insane life gains so I dont need to change pants every time a takes a swing at Fernando)
the glitch is specifically on the speed stat. Any monster that spawns with a 5-9 in speed will have absurd speed gains. you can use the list of cd's at legendcup.com to find what you're looking for, it'll take a bit of digging tho.
Is this broken now? MR2 DX - raised a couple monsters so far so I'm not completely new, but I generated this exact low-stat gel and he never had amazing speed gains. I trained him aggressively to build speed but it was never like you experienced in this, when he peaked he seemed to be getting just average 10-13 speed gain per drill.

I forget his name but theres a jell you have to fight in MR1 in like E or D class that has insaaaaaaane defense he's terrifying
Capella, what's actually funny is that his stats are actually pretty low for D rank, he just has jell cube and the jell basics which are all top tier attacks so it makes up for it

turns out it's 2x *overkill* damage ie; 3x your life but that's what i thought too until this happened
I was like "oh, I'm so gonna try this". Got Jell, went on first dodge it went Great, +15 and the speed grind started.
But I'm playing on Switch so I didn't have infinite money to buy Mint and Oil, which then I had to participate in a tournament a bit before as I ran out of money, and I was around 300 speed, and 4 hp. Guess what... I got hit for 14 damage, got insta killed and monster died... ahahahah f me.
Time to start over and spend less in Tablets and more with Potatos :P
Just to clarify, I didnt use any cheats on this file, this is just a normal amount of casual playhrough money.
@@Moosebones Oh, thanks for clarifying and sorry for confusion. I thought it was a money cheat since you have like over 100k G, and you did mention about Jell could be a good clean start monster, idk why I ended up thinking you were doing a clean file one too.. But I noticed now you already on 1005 year, so yeah, you got some mileage already xD
Anyway, I got money cheat now on my Switch, so I can focus on training without running out of money in the first year due buying Oil, Mints and Tablets hahah

There are several: Pixie/Metalner, Moo, Mocchi/Kato, Jill, Henger/Dragon, Eggplantern, Monol. Just look for monsters with a starting Spd of less than 10
I am unfortunately one of those people that resets for the best stat gains :)

They patched this I think. I'm at 10 months and 60 speed
This must have been parched out spent 2 years on this Slime and speed was only 315
Yeah we let the devs know about a ton of bugs and shit and they instead patched this fun thing and left the bugs

On Monster Rancher 1 DX, if you go to the shrine and input Aerosmith - Pump, you'll get Zangief from Street Fighter.
It really sucks when competitive mentality comes into play when it shouldn't matter.
