Golem being consistently good throughout the franchise is something I'll always adore about MR. Usually big guys like him only get a game or two to shine, if at all, and that's it. Now if only there were looks of his that were on par with his MR2 look.
My history with Golem is that 7ish years ago I had Monster Rancher Advance, and I raised a Golem with max attack. The funny part was mashing the A button and getting to frame one kill any frail opponent. My A button may not have liked it, but my golem and I did and that's what mattered.
I remember watching the anime. Golem was a peaceful giant but one day the bad guys crossed the line, rustled Golem's jimmies, and he killed each and every one of them. It was so cool
Cyclone is so messed up. It defines the meta in the JP 2997 scene where broken stuff like Ripper and Kamui are legal. A lot of Japanese players put Drill Attack on their Nagas specifically to GTFO of slot 4 against Golems as fast as possible (as they wonder what the funny foreigner is doing NOT putting Drill Attack on their Ripper.) Cyclone can kill a life tank on frame 1 on a non-crit in MW/2997 with only 850 power so you can save some points for life.... It can one-shot a life tank in LW on a non-crit when nothing else can.

Gotta love the Big boys. Golem was my favorite in the anime and he's possibly become my favorite in MR2. They are nice and bring you flowers, then one-shot the competition... what more can you ask for?

For those who are trying to get Heavy Kick on Dream Golem for the funny animation at 4:23, don't go to Torble Sea. Dream Golems cannot learn Heavy Kick there even though it's a basic tech
My assumption about the exploding shoe glitch (since it happens to a lesser degree on mariomax too) is that the game doesn't know what to do when the foot has a lot of transparency on it, but the torble sea bug is probably completely unrelated and just adds to it.

@@Moosebones Believe me I know, my channel is roughly 300 ranked parts, and 100 casual/lobbies. I suffered through that day in and day out, I remember at launch you legit couldn't have a mic plugged in, because it'd crash your match on Xbox. Think about that. Lol

As somebody who could never get into fighting games, I still managed to have an absolutely blast with that game against a more fighting-game-proficient friend. Just an absolutely insane roster for a game released in the US where half those Tatsunoko characters had never been seen before, and some of the stupid combos you could do in that game were hilarious. Fond memories of pissing my friend off with Roll combos ending in her healing super, letting me win a war of attrition despite the huge skill difference between us.
Big fan of how they Gave Karas and Zero like, absolutely no health to make up for the "technical" nature of the characters but Zero had enough options to make him the best in the game and they forgot to do anything with Karas after nerfing him lol

Back when I got MR 2 for PS1, I really wanted to raise one of these guys, but I had no concept of how bad stress was in that game and how much attention was required to keep it in check, so I never managed to reach rank 4. it was only really with DX that I joined the MR community and got through the game in a legit manner and yeah, Golem's Brow hit really does let you do nearly anything with your big boi.
This series went from great to AMAZING great when you added the cute little doodles

I don't know much about the competitive scene of MR2.
But I'm not surprised that golem is top tiered. Golem fights to win, he does not fight to not lose. In a game like monster rancher 2 that makes the whole difference.

Completely unrelated, but probably one of my most memorable Golem moments was in Battle Card Episode 2 where I let someone do 2 Recharges into a Roller to absolutely decimate one of my monsters with 48 damage. I was in disbelief that the AI did that.

I try to upload all the fun stuff and edit down the longer ranching vods but I probably won't ever just upload all the vods unedited. I'd need a second channel for that and also there's always a chance I say something that doesn't age well or unintentionally hurts someone and I would like to avoid that.
