He did bargain, but if you noticed, he never asked for Change back as well. He is just exploring, also he bought lot of stuff just for the sake of buying and then gave it away to someone. He is doing this so that he can give us the experience and educate us what it is like there. I have never been to Sri lanka, but now I know what to expect thanks to him. He is a youtuber, and advertising their whole market on top of that.

I mean for what is Norway WORLD FAMOUS?! there is nothing realy. yeah vikings, skandinavian history, but most of these people aren't that well educated. I don't think that they learned anything about norway at school. many people there struggle to keep them alive, They have no time to read books and stuf, it is a big privilege of ours that we have so many free time and do not need to work that we can lay back and read a damn book and learn about far away countrys. they work 16 hours a day to have barly enough money for food for their 9 headed familys. everybody knows germany at least for their cars or WW2. but norway? what did they do great that even "uneducated" people that never leaves their villages knoow it. without Bald and Baldr there where many asian and former soviet countrys I never heared about before, cause why should I ?! ^^ Hope you understand what I'm try'n to say. sorry for my bad english, me no americano

there is nothing worse when on holiday than seller bustin ass to sell you their stuff was in Tunisia few yrs back every stoll even to the point they try and push u into their shop lol but can get VERY irritating, i know whey are trying to make a living but when see tourist they bust ass
I was in Sri Lanka in May 2019, 3 weeks after the bombings. It was great for us because there were no tourists and no big crowds of people, but it was terrible for the local people as much of their income is derived from tourism. Most hotel reservations had been cancelled.
As for the Colombo markets - Fantastic. Cheap and friendly, and not overly pushy. I would have loved to have found an air conditioned shirt. Bloody hot!
Go to Sri Lanka if you can and help the local economy. Beautiful country, clean and friendly. Don't compare it to India.
Bet you havent been to south india, climate, people, geography, is similar to srilanka, over all south india is cleaner than north india too(apart from shimla).

But similar, thats all.. 🙏...kerala is considered to be the highest HDI index in india, literacy rate is 100% and is having a thriving tourism industry along side its beaches and hill stations.. Along with that many dishes are same in both kerala, tamilnadu and srilanka(appam,puttu etc)

Srilanka is a tropical country and you are in Colombo, a coastal place, in monsoon season. Expect plenty of humidity (>80%) all day and you will sweat in buckets. So it's wise to wear appropriately and drink lot of water to avoid dehydration.

When I volunteered in Sri Lanka we were told they don't change their prices and they actually find it offensive if people ask. It's a culture thing and the people in Sri Lanka never try to rip you off so you don't need to haggle.

Black is actually the right choice: it doesn't reflect as much sunlight to the eyes and it avoids mosquitoes and sweat from being seen.

@@i_nameless_i-jgsdf i have just looked up a few articles on black vs white clothing. I was slightly wrong before. Black will absorb the heat and provided you are wearing loose clothing such as a robe it will funnel towards the bottom and vent the heat out. If the clothing is tighter fitting black will not be better then white for heat regulation but will protect from uv rays better.

One of the reasons I liked Sri Lanka is exactly because the vendors dont quote you 2 or 3 or 10 times the price. They often give you a fair price right off and you might bargain only 10-20% off. A more honest place makes for a more pleasant experience, although there are scam artists in Colombo.
I am very impressed with the Sri Lankan people, they are very honest and genuinely. I think you seem to be buying a lot of the stuff just for the sake of supporting them rather than a need for it.
