    ■ SRI LANKA, KANDY: As I drove away from Kandy my motorbike kept breaking down. Not in the mood to be stranded on some rural road in the middle of the jungles of central Sri Lanka I searched for hotels using Google Maps. Turns out just a short one hour drive North of my position there was a hotel with a 9.7 star rating on Booking.com.
    This I had never seen before! I've also never seen anything in this price range either away from both a beach and a major city. After 2 minutes of going back and forth with myself curiosity got the better of me and I made an executive call. I booked the $250 room at the Sri Lankan resort in the middle of the jungle. Now all I had to do was find it before the bike broke down yet again....

    I’m blown away by how kind these people are. In all the videos I watch on this country, the people seem so incredibly friendly and welcoming, so it’s not just the expensive hotel. Very refreshing to see, for someone like me who lives in the northeast part of the USA where everyone is on a short fuse

      @Savage Cabbage - Of course all of that diatribe is a stereotypical generalization... There is good and bad in every country (and everything in between). Though I wouldn't want to live in New York either (or any densely populated city).

      @haluwazone299 Před 4 lety +2

      I lived in the midwest and they were some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life! Everyone says good morning and thank you and yes Sir! Midwesterners are way friendlier than Sri Lankans! And as a Sri Lankan I guarantee that if you were a dark African these people wouldn't hold you in such esteem. This is the plain simple truth. I'm Sri Lankan I know. I had many horrible experiences while taking one of my black friends around, the locals kept calling him "Kaffir/Kapiriya". My friend was not amused. In Sri Lanka the fairer you are the better they treat you.

      Yeah, the Northeast has many wonderful aspects, but the many short-fused people living along the I-95 corridor from Richmond all the way up to Bangor make the region socially challenging, I imagine. Thankfully, the people farther away from I-95, like in central Pennsylvania, upstate New York and interior New England (closer to Canada), are usually more polite and helpful. But this Southerner-turned-Westerner just couldn't ever live in the Northeast.

    • @stephencholette947

      It gets worse. I'm originally from Philly and I moved to Portland. Everyone in the Northwest is so much worse than the Northeast. It was like I went to sleep one night and woke up in Idiocracy. The US is a fairly aggressive place but the worst of it is on the West Coast.

    the fruit with star shaped slices is called KAAMBARANKAA (කාඹරන්කා) in sinhala. it is very tasty with little bit of salt and pepper on slices and good as a drink (juice) also. and specially good for people who suffer with diabetes to reduce blood sugar in a natural way.
