- ■ SRI LANKA, THALPE: There are times when your food options are bountiful and there are times when you have no options at all. After over 90 minutes on the road, cruising along the Southern coastline of Sri Lanka, I finally spotted a tiny restaurant. It was the first one I'd seen open since I left Hikkaduwa.
I ventured inside and the owner had already put down a rice curry dish on the table for me. But this was no ordinary Sri Lankan rice curry. For it contained a secret ingredient....
*PLEASE READ:* Guys, no need to be upset about the ants etc. It's a funny incident. This is not a five star restaurant. It's a family run roadside diner that unlike 99% of other restaurants (which have closed) are still trying to keep the wheels turning during what is a horrible economic depression / pandemic. Did you see me get angry in the vid? No. So neither should you.

Harald's tolerance, patience and mutual understanding is evident throughout this whole video and I wish I could be as easygoing as that. The abandoned house he investigated should be abandoned since the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004. Given its location and appearance, I assume that the owners of that house are all dead from the Tsunami. I won't go inside an abandoned house myself, but given Harald has a good heart I think everything goes smoothly wherever he walks in.
Don't think of them as ants, think of them as active pepper.

Good News Harald. The curfew has been lifted in the southern SriLankan areas. There was zero cases in the southern Sri Lanka and just around 254 cases island wide most of them not via community transfers Sri lanka finally decided to lift the curfew from tomorrow morning in the Southern and some other areas. Whole Island will come out of the Lockdown on Wednesday ( except 10 high risk suburbs but you are allowed to travel via the roads in these areas). And Thank You for all the foreigners who decided to stay during the Lock down and we are sorry!!!

Harald, you're supposed to dipped the roty in the curry, and don't eat only curries, there are too spicy, always eat with rice, roty, or bread. Try Sri Lankan Oily Bread (called "Thati Paan") for breakfast with daal curry and potatoe curry. Don't forget Pol Sambol.

You're a great person.. I really enjoy your videos.. Specially Sri Lankan ones as those show what we have actually missed even being Sri Lankans.. So you have definitely got the better side than us.. Have you ever thought of visiting Eastern beaches like Passikudah, Nilaveli, Trincomalee or Kalpitiya - the beach in North West, Wild life in Yala, Wasgamuwa, Vilpattu, Gal Oya or even Sinharaja Forest for virgin rain forests in SL? What about Sigiriya, Dambulla (Habarana for lodging), or Anuradhapura as archeological sites..?? Hill stations like Horton Plains, Nuwara Eliya and train ride from Kandy to Ella?? Have you tried "18 wanguwa" road (18 bends) from Kandy to Mahiyangana through which you can go to Passikudah?? All the best mate!
