I feel like you can say the MCU had a make or break it when Covid happen and they had to delay everything. Feels like we’re waiting for marvel to be like the DCEU and that’s never gonna happen. If ppl think that this is the worst the MCU has ever been then they’re gonna be around for another 20 years. We’re still getting top tier projects and the “bad” movies/shows it’s still watchable. I’ll be worry when Kevin feige retires 💯💯

Week is officially complete, now we got THE review!
Loved the conversation about xmen97 .loving the season.
This episode of Xmen 97 really showed how important those "soap opera" relationship bits are to the Xmen and its 100% what was missing from the Fox films. The Avengers have always been like coworkers and the Xmen are meant to be a chosen family and I hope they finally capture that in live action.

Given how many people didn’t bother to see The Marvels I’m sure that Disney isn’t too worried about fans wondering about what happened to threads dropped during post credit scenes. I think that now that Feige has his full power back I’m just waiting to see how Captain 4 and Thunderbolts turn out before I pass judgement on the state of the live action MCU but I’m encouraged!

@michaelvogel7026 we went to a restaurant in Tokyo called the dancing crab..where all the staff put on a dance show, it was really fun and the butter, garlic king crab legs were amazing
We went to nine countries in Asia, and Japan was by far our favorite place

The X-Men episode was based on the E for extinction story from the Grant Morrison X-Men run.
X-Men '97 is great! The Marvels is great! D&W, Cap 4, and Thunderbolts look great! That Superman logo is great! I'll take a pass on Joker 2 personally, but otherwise I'm eating well as a superhero fan! 😍 Episode 5 in particular had me trembling and bawling by the end and for a long time after as the trauma flashbacks of living through so many of those catastrophes. Magneto has always been one of my favorite characters and Gambit was the epitome of cool to me at that age when this show was first airing, so those deaths hit HARD! And people can complain about Lenore Zahn sounding "older" all they want, she brought her A game in this episode and fucking DELIVERED! I didn't get the vibe the Wild Sentinels were from the future, but that might be my bias of knowing the original E is for Extinction story when this attack occurred in the comics making me miss something there. Either way, heartbreaking tragedy and a real turning point for the season and this series.

remember cable was there so time traveling shenanigans are a possibilty to rez people but i think Apocalypse will rez Gambit and make him one of his horsemen, probably Death. because cable was saying he is coming and Cable is usually fighting Apocalypse. that will be rought for the xmen as gambit will be bad for awhile and they will have to free him from Apocakypse's control

I don’t mind the concept of multiple teams running around. That’s what makes the comics so cool tbh lol. I just think the MCU was too ambitious for its own good after Endgame, just producing multiple shows and movies, and not being able to give everyone equal attention to make sure they were the best quality. Hence why you have some movies/shows that worked, and some that didn’t. To me, it really is no different than phase 1 & 2 where more than half the movies range from meh to okay. The losses feel like more now simply because there’s so much more (too much) content. I don’t mind multiple teams running around, as long as they can have it all make sense within the storyline as they reach their next “endgame”. Call me a shill, but I’m still willing to give ‘em the benefit of the doubt, because for every entry where people say the MCU is over, you have an entry that enthrals. We just gotta accept that the streak that phase 3 had, just isn’t happening… Like Mike said, every movie within this franchise has something to offer, and shouldn’t just be disregarded. Hell, Incredible Hulk is largely ignored…. and yet, 17 years later, they’re finally picking up plot points from that film in “Captain America: Brave New World” lol

@JohnRochaSays I have commitment issues, sir. It's a wild sentinel as far as I have read and may be connected to Xaviers twin, but I guess we will know more soon!
As far as the superman logo, it's a symbol of hope so it doesn't have to be an S ..

Xmen 97 ep 5 broke me. The 88 through early nineties were a safe place for me out side of an unsafe reality. Gambit and Rouge were very special to me. Gambit went out like the gentleman bad ass he is. I fear Michael is right. No fixing the Cajun this time.

Having killed several mutants was shocking, but this is not going to last, comic characters hardly stay dead, when things like magic, multiverse and time travel exist. However, this is where a smart writer can add consequences and difficulties that make these tools not feel easy to use. This is something that mangas and animes have done well.
Are you guys doing a review for the last episode of invincible?
There aren't enough fans that care about the Young Avengers to warrant a movie.
I think Gambit is dead for at least a season. I think next season he'll come back as Death Horseman of Apocalypse. Magneto I think they're going to have done something with someone's powers to make him not be dead.

The sentinels weren't from the future.
Cable comes back from the future to warn them that Sentinels are coming to kill them and these Sentinels show up that are three headed and deadlier than hell and you're trying to tell me that you know they're not from the future. Did you write the season?
Just because Cable is in the picture doesn't mean the sentinels are from the future. The only time traveling sentinels from my knowledge is Nimrod and Omega Sentinel from the newest x-men era.
If you remembered anything from animated series there are tons of things the both Bishop and Cable come to the X-men's present to prevent that was a threat MADE in the PRESENT time but had a profound impact on future. Legacy Virus arc was a huge one and so was the Days of Future Past arc. Do you read?
I respectfully disagree with Michael Vogul about The Marvels. By no means do I think The Marvels is the greatest movie ever, it’s not, but it’s really not that bad of a movie. It still a big part of the Multiverse saga.

It was not established were the Sentinels came from, I personally don’t believe they came from the future, it doesn’t make sense.
Cable showing up just before these three headed Sentinels who are more deadly than any Sentinels have ever been somehow doesn't make sense to you that they could've come from the future? Really?? How does that "not make sense"?
@@JohnRochaSays Let me explain myself cause my comment sounded a little vague, I just thought about the huge process it would take to send all those sentinels back in time, and It seems a little to much trouble for me, also I recall a piece of dialogue from Trask in the first episode that made it look like him and others were making huge moves behind the scene. Sorry for not explaining my thoughts. But the more I think about it, the time travel theory could very well be a possibility. I haven’t read those events in the comics, so It could be anything to me.
Maybe Cable was there cause he was trying to stop the sentinels in the future from traveling back in time (if in fact they come from the future), or maybe someone did something that changed history and in the new future Cable learns about the events in Genosha and for some huge reason he tries to warned them to change those events. Either way I’m excited for the upcoming 4 episodes.

That was on Thursday. Shannon and I talked Fallout as our main topic on that episode. You can watch that episode if you like. Michael has been in Japan for 10 days and hadnt had a chance to watch it. Didn't make sense to talk to him about it.

keep the X-Men out of the MCU mix, keep it animated, I do not trust the switch over will be successful, these stories are wonderful and why mix in the bad apples? that's just me.
“Look The Marvels just wasn’t a good movie” you proclaim that as a fact and that’s annoying that’s ur opinion which I respect but ur opinion isn’t the definitive be all. To u it wasn’t a good movie but others disagree and I’m one. Though I did hate Antman!
Speaking of Ant-man, last yr it was a box office disappointment BUT only 9 movies in all of 2023 made more money than it did so all this talk about MCU being dead doesn’t jive with the actual box office facts. People say things over and over so they become what everyone believes even when the facts don’t back that up. MCU had 3 releases last yr and 2 were top 10! The Marvels flopped no doubt but that’s the exception not the rule.
The year before that MCU had all 3 movies they released in the top 10 and 2 of the top 4 in the US were from the MCU. Year before that all 3 were top 11! They aren’t what they used to be box office wise but relative to all other movies and franchises they still get more butts in sets than others!
Quality is opinion so I’m not arguing that just going off the yr box-office worldwide grosses and they don’t back up what ur saying…
Haha fair enough. My point that I was trying to make is that even though I PERSONALLY FELT it was a bad movie, there was still a lot I liked about it. Didn't meant to make an unequivocal statement and I know the movie has its fans. My bigger point is, when it comes to many of these superhero films, even the one you hate the most (so Quantumania for you) STILL has SOME good bits in it. Figuring out what worked and what didn't is part of what I find really interesting about interconnected story telling.

And to ur point, about some good existing in all the movies I think that’s true but we can all agree we need more than some. By nature of a shared universe they have some built in pluses but also some built in challenges.
Antman with a lower budget would’ve been a hit w/the same BoxOffice- crazy the 10th highest goosing film of last yr is disappointment part of that disappointment is comparing them to themselves and then of course the divisiveness of fan and critic reception.
That’s what we can all rejoice in X-men 97- it’s gets us MCU fans all in the same page which we haven’t been for a while!
