Alright I got my 58 10hp evinrude sorted out. I changed all the cork packing washers to O-rings with the same diameter. I put 2 on each adjustment. I flipped my plastic Float upside down from the way I had it. Put the old bowl gasket back on and left the air box off the carb. I pulled the rope and she started up first try and didnt leak a single drop of fuel. My guess it was the float orientation and needle not working together.
Agreed on the needle seats I had the same problem with my rebuild kit. I wasn't as brave as you and reused the old seat. There is definitely something wrong with the new kits.
My 1958 evinrude sportwin 10hp is leaking gas out of the top (sharp) carb jet, which gaskets are needed and what order for the top needle dial to prevent gas from leaking out of it?
@@gdamtbnms I put 2 cork O-rings in. Now gas is starting to leak through the carburetor Nozzle, part number 85 on marine engine website. I installed that rubber gasket around the top of the brass nozzle and fuel is just pouring out in a steady stream. Any idea how to stop this fuel leak?
Should I change out my old needle seat to that new type? the hole in the new needle seat is larger and like you said the threads arent quite right I would have to force it in, my old brass needle seat looks good and so do both of my needles, I dont understand why it is just bleeding fuel out of that brass nozzle when the rubber gasket is pressed tight to the bottom bowl.
How did you get the glass filter bowl off the carb? Last time I tried to unscrew it I broke it. I got a new one on eBay so I don’t want to break this one
yeah they can be tricky! and expensive!!. The bottom of the metal bracket should unscrew. lefty loosy!! once the metal bracket is off, the glass bowl should fall off... it might stick to the gasket so just tap it with something rubber! Hope this helps! let me know if i can help any more!! Please don't forget to sub up!!
