For me, I guess I’ll always be someone who requires the rehearsed nature of scripts to maximise my full potential, and although I’m not adverse to making appearances on a podcast here and there, I think I need to focus my efforts on my content first and foremost, given how I have regularly failed to do that of recent. However, it is a thought that has taken up residence in my psyche, what if I was to drop everything I was doing now, set up a new channel with the resources I currently possess, and do something that doesn’t require me tearing my hair out. In a way, it’s a decision that Ethan and Hila Klein, also known as h3h3productions made a few years ago, when they decided to launch the h3 podcast, but let’s rewind for just a moment in case anyone here isn’t fully acquainted with the CZcams leviathan that is h3h3productions.
h3h3productions is the CZcams channel run by the aforementioned Klein couple, they established a presence on CZcams for content that often parodied their subjects, usually utilising Ethan’s offbeat sense of humour, alongside editing that put a somewhat amusingly absurdist twist on the content they were lampooning. Nonetheless, many of these videos also had an underlying moral message that resonated with many viewers, often calling out many of the creators of their time for their often shallow exploitation of CZcams culture.
They’re funny, they’re well made, and many of them are still relevant to this day. They’re videos I grew up with, and will always find a place in my heart for. However, a few years ago, as many of you probably know, they themselves became the centre of attention after one of the subjects of their videos: a gentleman by the name of Matt Hoss, decided to sue them for copyright infringement. It had been regularly debated on how much commentary constituted fair use, and with h3’s videos, there was an uneasy trepidation that maybe, if the ruling went in the favour of the plaintiff, that a new gauntlet would be set down for further lawsuits in this domain.
Fortunately the case was won by our protagonists here, and they triumphantly returned to the platform, cheered on by the platform itself, and many creators whose livelihoods seemed to depend on the verdict. However, you can’t really undo the stress that such a case would cause you, and in the aftermath it seemed difficult to return to that content with the same sort of gusto that they’d previously bore. And it’s hard to blame them, if anything a lawsuit which requires such an investment would inevitably sap the fun out of the content that in many ways served as an escape at one point. So, over time, they seemed to distance themselves further from the formula that they had once been inseparable from, venturing into new pastures, including the one we mentioned earlier: the podcast.
If you got this far and you're still interested, be sure to watch more!

I'm completely shocked by the Dr Drew episodes. Having BPD doesn't mean you get to escape responsibility because one of your "things" is overwhelming anger or emotional imbalance. Blaming Ethan for not being able to cope with Trisha's BPD instead of helping Trisha regulate her emotions is so enabling and damaging to everyone involved.

Exactly! I have BPD, and I’ve damaged relationships because of my outbursts in the past, but I used those instances to reflect and work on myself. Splitting is awful and feels uncontrollable, but we still have the ability to come back, apologize, and work on preventing those outbursts in the future. The LAST thing we need is to be enabled, especially with some of the horrific things Trisha has said

Trisha always refrains from explicitly stating something. Instead she heavily implies something wich gives her an out when she gets confronted about the extremely obvious conclusion someone came to. And it gives her an opportunity to attack the person for "lying" and deflect blame because she never explicitly said those exact words.

This whole 5% thing can be solved by explaining that there is a difference between someone who acts as a producer versus Trisha who is the talent. There is a reason producers make more money on projects that earn profits - they paid for the production. Talent gets a fee for showing up, performing their role, and don't worry about the costs or logistics behind a production. I don't understand how this was so drawn-out and muddled in needless confusion.

Ethan didn't trust Trisha to have that more active role, and whether you agree with that or not Trisha was one half of the entire concept of this podcast- so in my opinion she is entitled to that.

I’m seeing so many people say Trisha is/was in love with Ethan and was very jealous of Hila. I agree she is jealous, but I disagree with WHY people think that. It was never about Ethan or Hila as individuals, but about what they represented. Ethan was seemingly the first man in her life who actually liked her as a person rather than using her for sex and then very publicly sneering at her. He treated her with respect and didn’t treat her as a blow up doll. Hila has a long and happy marriage, she has a career based on talent that has garnered her respect. People genuinely recoiled when men like Keemstar degraded her. Yes, people don’t LIKE it when men degrade Trisha but there is definitely an undercurrent of “Gross, but hey… It IS only Trisha.” And of course, Hila is classically beautiful. Trisha sees Hila as the woman she can never be and Ethan as the kind of man she can never attain. She viewed the crew as the general public who grew to love her but would never, ever respect her the way they do Hila. She was in love with what they symbolised, not Ethan personally.

Spending countless hours away from home EVERY DAY and her (miracle baby) going to Starbucks for coffee and doing stupid mukbangs, stuffing her face and talking really stupid and pointless crap and then proceeds to go through the same drive thru again before heading...
She's seriously mentally immature and, BTW I haven't followed her for years like countless people and I certainly don't do Tik-Tok Instagram, and those other platforms she uploads to DAILY, however in the short period I have watched her on the CZcams channels because she was the person I chose to follow and learn about as my case study for Psychology courses.
Wow! So much to say analytically.
However this so-called 'NEW' and 'improved' Trisha she's enthusiasticly professed to be is another subject altogether.
Granted, she hasn't been seen balling hysterically on a kitchen floor in a while, however she's still playing victim and literally lying, and being called out for lying with proof even as of today.
I'm just going to end this text by saying, I can honestly say that she's deeply troubling and the thousands of people with either genuine concerns or even disdain for this woman have validity with their opinions.
PS. I could have gained a lot more material had I went on Reddit sooner as I have discovered a huge community of people who do their own homework based on facts and proof by calling TP out on her hypocrisy and lies (and the disgusting, unsavory) thing's she's posted herself on many platforms for 16 year's.

If anything, Dr Drew was giving Ethan a heads up and saying, "you know her behavior, and keep willingly having a show with her, what do you expect the outcomes to be?" No one was forcing Ethan to continue the podcast other than his pockets. He willfully allowed his private family drama to play out in the public while his wife was pregnant, because of views. It was Ethans idea, as explained at the start of this video. He reached out to her, he wanted to create the podcast eith her, fully aware of her history and how she is. Yup. I wrote a very long post on that. Mental illness, is not an excuse. I don't think that having a therapy session on camera, would have resulted in any kind of proper resolution. To my knowledge, BPD is massively exasperated when large amounts of audience are present. The only way to really do it, is to do it privately. With a therapist, who is not afraid to challenge, when the illness pops its head up, AND, when the person in question, is taking the piss. You know? I get that you are working hard, as am I, with CPTSD, and psychosis, right? I know when to call it. When to step away. And I'm sure, you yourself, will agree, that there were plenty of times where she could have recognised what was happening, and said: "...OK, crap. I'm having an episode, or about to have one. Guys... this.. is a mental health emergency day, I'm sorry. I can't do this today."
Sadly, with her being a celebrity, I don't think she will recover. There's too much going on, and too many people tuning in to see the 'freakouts'. The only way she'll do that, is to take a LOT of time away, and really work on herself. Really work hard, dig deep. But, she is 'rewarded' by views for her episodes, so, there's no real reason for her to stop, or change.

I find it so telling of how Dr. Drew really did not help them. Like, at all. He quite literally perpetuated the very thing that ultimately broke the podcast apart, which was Ethan's unease with deescalating Trisha's moments, and also simultaneously perpetuated Trisha's confusion. With BPD, at least for me, when I'm having an episode, I need people to a) give me space. I need time and space to actually get back to a place where I'm thinking rationally. But also, with that, b) I need someone to be clear and direct with me. Especially since being confused/frustrated is an immediate trigger for me that will send me straight into an episode because, well, confusion slips into frustration, and frustration snaps to blinding anger. Lol. But I've gotten to the point where I've worked on myself enough to know when someone is trying to be my anchor and grounding me back to reality. I'll still need the time and space if I'm amidst an episode, but if this is the moments before, it can help avoid it in its entirety.
Obviously we don't have every single little detail, but I think Ethan being left unsure as to how to appropriately anchor Trisha and their moments, and the lack of communication between them (even though they did try to be open with each other) really was what hindered their friendship. And Dr. Drew quite literally seemed to just want to sabotage any attempts at learning how to be an anchor, and learning how to have a clear line of communication to avoid frustration.

So Trisha thought if they behaved correctly they would earn more right to make production decisions and Ethan thought it was understood that the podcast was under his production company’s umbrella. If they had come to an agreement in writing before the show began and they signed acknowledging their responsibilities and roles (for instance Trisha’s being explicitly defined purely as talent and not required to make production decisions) it might have prevented the whole thing from stopping. Dr Drew’s take on the relationship dynamic between Ethan and Trisha is infuriating. Though he makes a fair point that Ethan needs to be more aware of how he confronts Trisha on certain topics that may be triggering to them, it is not his responsibility to manage Trisha’s behaviors, emotions and reactions. Though we cannot always manage our reactions and emotions in the moment, it is the responsibility of the person with the mental health disorder to learn and develop the right coping mechanisms to help themselves manage their own behaviors and know how to minimize triggers. As psychologists, we are taught how to help clients develop proper coping mechanisms that they can use long term to help themselves grow and manage their behaviors. It infuriates me that Dr Drew is completely ignoring Trisha’s lack of accountability in their own actions as not only is this harmful to their growth but it also enables any future maladaptive behaviors Trisha may have.

Pushback only makes it worse. Dr Drew saying he handles it bad and should just "let her do it" is absolutely the worst thing to do and I'm always glad when the people in my personal life leave or send me away and then explain their actions later. Ofc BPD is not a hivemind, but this guy is absolutely angering me with how much he enables it and would inevitably make her disorder worse and help her justify that everyone elswe but her is wrong!

I'm starting to believe a lot of these people aren't here for the video and got lost. I apologize you were denied an engaging discussion.
For your trouble, I'd like to provide some of my own insight. People are very much able to change themselves as adults for sure. I will say however on the contrary that behaviors and lifestyles you grow up around and are exposed to are hard to kick for some people. I for instance was raised in a household where I was punished for my failers, even if it was unfair. This led to me constantly holding myself to a standard that I wasn't allowed to fail or screw up at anything, even burning a piece of toast was unacceptable.
Now, I've personally done some self reflections over the course of a decade to get out of this mindset that I am allowed to be a human being and make a mistake. I'm a lot happier for it. There will be days however where I slip and make a big deal out of nothing again.
It's good if one can better themselves and rise above an issue in their life, but it's also unfair to expect that someone won't also slip back into old habits. For me personally, this is where it's good to have people in your life. They're there to support you and to also hold you accountable for your behavior. Not only can I be better for myself, but I can be better for them too. Because I care about being the best me for them.

@@SotheX thank you so much for the thoughtful and detailed reply!
This is the sort of discussion I was hoping to have!
I truly feel for your situation. It is hard to grow up in an environment that “sets you up” a certain way (and in Trisha’s case, enables her behaviour and reactions) but to truly reflect and make positive changes in the future, and I’m so glad you were able to reflect in such a way.
Never feel bad for “slipping up” on old behavioural patterns, when you’ve been surrounded by people who intentionally try to cause you to have those reactions it’s a hard cycle to break.
The key was surrounding yourself with people who won’t enable, or intentionally try to push you to that point, and you did that by getting yourself a good support system that will hold you to account when you feel too lost to hold yourself accountable!
Everyone slips up from time to time, but you have a grip on it and you can see yourself in real time beginning to slip into those old behaviours and that’s amazing, self awareness is the only way to break old habits and behaviours!
Just to give context to what I meant in my original comment, Of course as adults we can choose to make changes to our behaviour BUT you have to become self aware of that behaviour first (and then take steps like you did - distance yourself from those who cause/enable such behaviour, take time to realise the impact those behaviours have, surround yourself with people who hold you accountable etc) but Trisha has gone through friend group (and boyfriend) after another, and the only constant seems to be those (her mother and sister) who display and enable the same bad behaviour she’s displayed in the past.
As far as I can see Trisha isn’t ready to self actualise or reflect, and she will never become a better person while surrounding herself ONLY with those who display the same behavioural patterns, but that’s what seems safer to her, because the idea of having to reflect, take accountability and change is way too scary for some people - so they end up sticking to people, and a life, that’s “comfortable” and “familiar”.
That was all I meant by my original comment and had that commenter just asked me to give context to, or elaborate, on what I meant (instead of basically just saying I’m dumb lol) I would have been able to provide that context.
I’m happy you’re doing much better in life now friend, and remember that you’re a human being, and as simple and cliche as it sounds, most of us are out here just trying our best and mistakes/drawbacks are inevitable but (excuse the profanity lol) you sound like you’ve got your shit together (even if you doubt yourself and think otherwise) and I wish you all the best in life ♥️

Im pursuing my post grad in psych with a major in therapeutics. My specialisation is humanistic but i have some experience with couples/family councilling and I am pretty upset with drews conduct. He was extremely perscriptive, he didnt guide or follow the lead of clients, instead telling them what he thought was right. This is just not correct, you can not perscribe a solution to someone elses problem because the only person who knows the true essence of the issue are the ones afflicted. All we can do is be there, listen and try to understand. For example, when ethan spoke about how he didnt want to tell trisha things behind closed doors, I would have instantly honed in on 1. hurt in the voice and 2. a sense of betrayal of trust. I would say something like "i am hearing some pain in your voice, it feels to me like you are feeling betrayed." in a couples session, if affirmed by the client id say to them "do you think you could try explaining to trisha what made you feel hurt." instead, drew came in with the steel chair and completely destroyed a critical moment my minimisng ethan and contradicting him, which is a big no no in my opinion.
TL:DR, dr. drew listens to respond and he injects his personal bias into the words of his clients, rendering him unable to help anyone, with his only real ability is to affirm is own faux expertise. A therapist listents to understand, to comfort and be with their client, responding only to clarify or to focus the client on something that seems important.

I took the clinical psychology route in my post grad, but it depends heavily on where you live. For me the most popular majors are criminal psych, addiction studies, clinical and then there are some more obscure routes like sports-psych.
It also depends on the routes available to become registered/qualified as a psychologist. For where I lived you have two major routes 4+2, which is undergrad, 1 year postgrad honours and 2 years supervised practice or 5+1, which is masters + 1 year supervised practice, which i opted for just to get it out the way (i hate research).
