I ainât a trek fan but damn these reviews are entertaining.
I know right? It's hilarious how AJ's review of the show is more entertaining than the actual show itself. It really puts the current state/quality of "entertainment" into perspective
Hey I love to do food videos while smoking weed on my CZcams channel, to cure peopleâs boredom gangy

One thing that's frustrating me is the dialogue. Characters constantly state, re-state, and then re-restate what they're doing, over and over again. It's like this:
"The black hole is pulling us in like a vacuum cleaner. We can't create a warp field to escape, and the nearest help is days away"
"Yes sir, we're being sucked into the black hole"
"Cavalry is nowhere in sight, because we're out beyond the border"
"If we don't do something, in 1 hour, this ship will be torn apart by the black hole"
"Thank you, Ensign. Yes, and we can't call for help, or warp out of here"
Its like when you have to write a project with 500 words
These days an AI would come up with a better script than these hacks.
Scripts are a big problem with these nuTreks.
They literally talk only in exposition and keep repeating themselves like the audience is too stupid to know what's going on, the writing is still terrible and just as bad as before, the show is still bad!
I mean. That's star trek. Sharp dialog does happen on occasion. But techobabble is a term coined put of thebseries.
My favorite part was Joe hating this episode more and more as he went through the synopsis, LOL
I think other Joe and Alex were convincing him that it was terrible lol
And yet still went with a 6. Was he going to give it an 8 originally?
Poor Alex being subjected to this torture
There are probably so many small details that annoyed the hell out of Alex. Like how everyone is impressed with the Shrike being able to use their tractor beam to throw a ship at the Titan even though we've seen ships use tractor beams to move much more massive objects. Or how Shaw calls Jack an intergalactic criminal. Intergalactic, meaning between galaxies, even though everything takes place in the Milky Way and the Federation doesn't have the technology to travel to another galaxy. Or how they could have just scanned Jack with a tricorder to find out who he is. Or how Jack could have just told them that he was willing to be given up to Vadic instead of escaping from the brig and making it look like he was trying to run.
I love Alex conatantly trying to escape the reviews and Joe having to be like "No!" Lmao funny bit
What about the rest? lol...

@@Corbomite_Meatballs watching on an OLED but you're right lol couple scenes I was like damn is my brightness turned all the way up??
I can't get over how irresponsible Picard and Riker are. They lied to Shaw to try to trick him into taking them to Beverly. Then they had Seven countermand Shaw's orders and change course to go to Beverly. At no point were Shaw or the crew warned that they might get into a dangerous situation. That is incredibly irresponsible.
We've seen in previous Trek shows that ships need time to prepare for battle. Getting into a fight before the crew has had time to do battle drills, prepare the medical bay, charge the weapons and shields, get the warp core to max efficiency, etc. is very dangerous.
In fact, we don't even know what kind of ship the Titan is or what its mission is. Starfleet has thousands of ships and different ships serve different purposes. Shaw said that the Titan is an exploratory vessel. So for all we know, it could be a science ship that has a crew of mostly scientists and engineers, and minimal weapons to make room for a lot of research equipment.
That's what bothers me about this show...the Jean-Luc Picard from the ENT-D (and even ENT-E) would *NEVER* have put up with a Badmiral coming onto his ship, squatting on his bridge, and acting the way he and Riker are. He would've brigged them after a 30 min. monologue about what bad people they were.
I get it that people "change" as they age (Great Bird knows Kirk stole the ENT to find Spock), but I can't believe Picard has gone that mushy in his positronic brain that he can't work the angles with a Starfleet captain to figure out how to get what he wants.
People change and the Titan is a constitution class
They managed to talk the Borg out of borging, talking the bounty hunter out of bountying should be trivial.
Bounty hunter, no bounty hunting! Bounty hunter, no bounty hunting! Bounty hunter, no bounty hunting!
Youâre really determined to have your voice be heard on this show. I applaud you
Especially since CBS & Paramount are so hell bent on censoring Joe's reviews thinking that that will magically erase any & all criticism of the show.
Considering how many times they've unfairly striked his reviews, its probably personal at this point.
It was struck down once this season. This is a new episode.
Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!
â@@Music-vr7szhow long before they strike this video and videos on upcoming episodes, we shall see lol
Iâm glad I wasnât the only that found it completely absurd that a retired Admiral can just override orders from the shipâs acting captain.
He's not even an admiral, he's a robot that replaced the real Picard.
He didn't though. He tried. The captain was like wtf? Then picard was... it's my son. The captain basically said... fuck... no winning this and went with it.
Angry Joe's costumes sure give this show a little more character.
I hate that a whole sci fi universe is continually reduced to TWOK in these modern adaptations. The limits of imagination is astounding.
"The lights are low its sleepy time" y'all are fucking killing it
When picard said engage in TNG they activated the warp drive, but in Picard they fire torpedoes instead. Doesn't make sense.
HE DID THE THING!
Riker in season 1: Can immediately summon the 100 ship copy-paste fleet when he needs it.
Riker in season 3: Canât even borrow a shuttle.
Coincidentally, clearly the writers don't know Starfleet Runabouts exist for the exact purpose Picard and Riker needed one.
EDIT: And yes, of course I realize the plot demanded that they get onto the Titan. But did you have to turn them both into feckless laughingstocks of their former selves to get them there?
A runabout canât go as fast/far as a ship
There is also a difference between an impeding attack and calling for a fleet a ships vs I need a ship to take me here
@@startrekmaniac1701 Yes, yes it can. That's why they have their own ship registries. Because they're literally independent starships. Their warp drives aren't as fast, but their range is only limited by the plot.
@@startrekmaniac1701 In this case, the only difference was what the plot demanded.
â@@startrekmaniac1701 but the impending attack in season 1 was on an unaligned planet outside the Federation. Where did Riker get the authority to send a fleet of ships to a random no name planet and get involved in a conflict the Federation had no part in?
In fact, it was actually in the Federation 's interest not to intervene since the Romulans were trying to blow up a group of androids trying to summon robo-Cthulhu to wipe out all organic life in the galaxy.
Hearing the plot so far, it sounds like this could've made a decent kind of buddy cop style show with Picard and Rykard in a small ship traveling around meeting old crewmates and actually exploring different worlds vs this federation conspiracy stuff.
just don't ask Riker to do the Riker manoeuvre or he'll pee his pants.
Just realized I wrote Rykard, as in the Elden Ring boss đ€Ł
@@Cysubtor_8vb Just realized both names kinda rhyme with Picard. Anyway, good idea, so that's a nope.

@@editthemadparts1913 Android Picard is brand new.
I keep wanting to tell them to turn the lights on in the ships. Maybe do some interior decorating. It reminds me of those DS9 episodes where they travel to a darker parallel dimension.
For real, I feel like I would take the scenes more seriously if they just turn on the damn lights lol
Iâm glad they made sure to give Jack a British accent to show us heâs French. Otherwise we couldnât believe heâs picardâs son as we all know accents are hereditary
I never understood that. No attempt at a French accent, but they insisted he's French.
Picard would never have even considered relinquishing Jack Crusher to a **bounty hunter.** The fact he only snaps into defending him when he fully realises Jack is his son gives off this really horrible vibe; that Picard is only helping him because it's his son, not because it's _right._
I didn't get that vibe that Picard was ever going to go along with handing him over. He just had to formulate a response that Shaw would buy.
Where did you get that he was going to hand him over he says the opposite a few times đ
He was clearly not wanting to turn him over but legally he really has no right and ethically he's risking hundreds for the sake of one person of highly questionable character
Disagree don't think he was ever ready to hand him over... Captain Shaw but he came on board after knowing who he was
Over 500 lives are in danger here, did you forget that?
They will probably justify her actions because if you guys remember Jean LUC didn't deal with kids well back in TNG their was two or three episodes where he had to deal with kids and it was shown that he didn't deal well with kids. Until the end. Remember he gives the little girl a hug and her toy sticks to his back and Will shakes his head to not tell him and he sits in his chair with everyone giggling at him.
If there was a book that existed for those who hate Star Trek: Picard, Alexâs face would be on the cover.

*Stuff I liked about picard:*
-A Ferengi!
-The cynical captain is ok
*Stuff I Disliked*
-Why is the big bad enemy ship just waiting?
-Computer predicts 100% chance of ship destruction (thus 100% chance of death) no one really cares, almost like that know they will be fine.
-Raffy is telling her handler (Worf) stuff he already knows (almost like she is trying to explain the plot to the audience)
-Of course, 10minutes later, when Picard has finished his conversation the enemy ship starts attacking
-Oh no, more Raf-fail telling people stuff they already know so the audience can understand
-So Raffy failed to save Starfleet, was a drug addict, and now we know she abandoned her son and was a failed mother, can they make this character any more dislikeable
-Is Riker to stupid to realize that on someone else's ship, when someone yell's "Captain!", they are not talking to y
- Enemy gives Picard 1hour to make a choice that takes 20 seconds.
-Picard asks incredibly stupid question "what just happened?" so they can have the line "She threw a ship at us!"
-What happened to Beverly no one has mentioned her for ages (its almost like they know Beverly will be fine, and no one cares)
-Seven was fired for insubordination, when (on this occasion) she was not insubordinate, she asked the captain and he eventually agreed to rescue Picard
-Raffy contradicts her character. She carries money, she asked for a pay rise, she complained about Picard's wealth, but now she says Starfleet doesn't care about money
-Captain asks "How do you know he is Beverly's child?" If only you had a super advanced medical facility capable of testing paternity
-Why did Riker go against the doctors order, wake Beverly up from sedation in order to drag her to the bridge?
-Of course its Picard's son, guessed it in the first 10 seconds, but that now makes Picard a failed father.
-Picard yells "Engage" but they fire weapons??? who doesn't understand the command "engage"?
*Worst stupidity*
-Admiral Picard takes command of the ship, despite being told in the very last episode that Picard is an ex-admiral and rank doesn't apply to him any more
Dont forget Worf lopping off heads like its nothing. That really embodies Star Trek
Who else just watches Joe's review instead of the actual show đ
I don't normally like Alex but when he said "this is star trek for jake paul" I gave him in real life props. fucking 150% accurate.
Alex is the voice of reason wym???
Let's hope this doesn't break Alex, would be a real shame to lose him for the show
It does seem like it's wearing him down.
He's hates old, fading away actors. Does he even like any women actors/heroes? Prob not. He musta had a mean grandpa.
I would be fine with loosing Alex... he has turned into a angry and mean spirited reviewer to the point me and my friends have dropped "The Angry Joe Show" for reviews. I get the show is named "Angry" and all... but it is much less fun with the format and constant whining over the last year or so. What I liked about this channel originally was it was "regular" gaming and movie "fans" talking about the movies... like me and my friends would often do. This channel has turned into Joe trying to stay positive (to keep the viewers)... little joe basically asleep/has no clue half the time... and Alex acting superior and annoyed at basically everything. In the end... I just can't regularly listen in anymore... just brings me down. I pop in once in awhile when I am digging a show/movie/game... and see what the guys think... and like clockwork... they (mainly Alex) just hates on the show/movie/game. I am being a bit dramatic with this post to make a point... I know Alex and the guys don't "hate" everything... but even when they "like" something it's with qualifiers...etc. Also get that it's a review site/channel.. and they are entitled to their opinions... I just don't agree all that often... and I don't need the extra negativity. L8
@@GreenGoblin30 that's fair, I get where you're coming from
The episode went back two weeks for the opening scene. Jack said that it was Fenris Rangers, then Klingons followed by some Starfleet guys after them. But he says "we've been running for months." Must be some space-time continuum shit going on (or bad writing).
Or he was lying to Picard
I also had a problem with how much it took for Seven to get relieved of duty, then she leads a security team and gets her command back so easily. Especially taking into account Shaw's take on former Borg. You also have Worf who I am afraid might turn into Elnor and become an assassin ninja warrior cutting people's heads off. Riker and Picard should at the very least be confined to quarters, but they get free reign to walk around the ship.
7 of 9 should have been thrown in the brig at the end of episode 1
The way Shaw was written in episode 1 he would have thrown 7 of 9 in the brig if this was any other star trek series, voyager, ds9, ent, TNG,
@@voluntarism335 agreed, that fact that it took so much was just laughable. Especially since they tried to setup Shaw as being so strict.
@@voluntarism335 When he relieved her for insubordination, he doesn't even mention that she disobeyed orders in his reasoning. He just points out the sHuTtLE and that she persuaded him. Forgetting and brushing over key details to move the plot at a fast pace seems to still be going strong... it makes any analysis beyond surface level not worth it
I think they might have forgotten that Shaw had other orders and the Titan is supposed to be on a mission. They're acting like the Titan is Shaw's personal ship that he can do what he wants with it. But Starfleet ships are always being assinged missions, going to mediate negotiations, rescuing colonists from a natural disaster, delivering medical supplies, patrolling a region of space for pirates, etc. Did they just forget that going on this random detour may jeopardize the mission they're supposed to be on?
@@KingOfMadCows Oh I agree with you but last episode, Shaw's mission was to show off the newish ship during a Frontier day in a fleet exercise. Basically an airshow for Starfleet and fans.
When RMB, Drinker, Nerdrotic and Cullen have all said to give it a chance and it's good, when you listen to the cast and Matalas talk, and when you were sensible enough to stop watching Nu-Trek ages ago... it's a lot easier to not be so jaded going into this and I'm enjoying it so far. They were lumbered with the universe and have, by all accounts, given it a real shot this time. Kurtzman, Goldsman and Stewart have nothing to do with the writing and it shows already.
EDIT: Remember they're ahead of us. Drinker has seen 6, the others have seen it all. Not one has said it's perfect. They've all said they were surprised how much they enjoyed it.
I disagree, theyâre all disciples of JJ Abrams and it shows, this episode played out literally like Star Trek 2009 (especially the villain)
yeah its not bad so far.. but then again, season two had 2 great episodes at the start too, then it fell to shit after that. Plus I heard that this villainy isnt even the main "threat" of the series
@CyberPup 22 same Picard S3 has been quite good so far. And I despise Nu Trek so itâs a very weird feeling.
I didn't watch S1 & S2 and really am enjoying it. I can see how you could be jaded but this season so far is much better than typical stuff produced by Hollywood.

Spot on.
"This is Star Trek for Jake Paul." đ That is one of the most brilliant lines in any CZcams review ever. Alex's deconstruction of this dogshit is masterful.
For those who don't know, she is Christopher Plummer's daughter. She is also the girl in Pulp Fiction who was trying to rob the restaurant. Also calling it now, Lore is the one that stole and used the weapon. They are trying to cram far to much into one season that's only 10 episodes long.
Donât forget so I married ax murder and hunger games
It would be pretty hilarious if she turns out to be General Chang's grand daughter or something dumb like that.
I thought it was 12 episodes, just split into blocks of 6 for early screeners?
@@jesspeaceful I think itâs 10
@@jesspeaceful I thought I heard Joe say 6. but I just checked and its 10 total Episodes.
I am sure somebody has already pointed this out, but why would Crusher name her son Jack. Isnât that the name of Wesleyâs dad?
The writers think itâs clever.
I really miss the TNG characters and seeing them again is great. Not sure where this season will go, but I actually think it is above average at this time.
Tom Hardy played Shinzon, Picards clone in Star Trek Nemesis.
I'm 100% with Alex. This is drek and no one should watch it, other than for research purposes or as torture.
Although the bit with Rafi's husband is not as bad as you guys make it out to be. It's a pretty common cliche where a character is forced to choose between their job or their child or partner.
But it would work better with a character like Bond or Ethan Hunt, Rafi hasn't really earned that sort of drama....
Also, it irks me every time but I'm pretty sure the federation cured addiction, I think there was even an episode about it where they found this planet where everyone was addicted to some drugs and Beverly was like "bitch please, I got this".
So for Rafi to be a junkie makes no sense in that universe... Also since drugs are usually a symptom of poverty and poor life choices, whereas the Federation is a utopia where everyone has everything they need to have a good life. Especially members of Starfleet and especially people living on Earth... It's just so stupid.
I really want Alex to get his own channel. I wanna see this man go off at 100% of his power
He seems more depress in every video.đ
Omg i just had a major flashback to my own early childhood at 24:26, because my fox station KITN/WFTC also had syndicated TNG on at night after Married with Children, and that was when I went to bed too.
I had a flash of standing in my parentsâ bedroom looking waaaay up at the TV while TNG was on; my mom was fixing my bed or something and I was waiting to see one of my two favorite characters, Deanna or Wesley.
It was a show I watched for maybe 5-10 minutes at age 2-5 but it was so important to me that I was always writing and drawing TNG fanfic on my little drawing pads. I wrote one where Deanna and Wesley went on an away mission to a cat planet.

You needed to have the Picard retired, in order for this whole plot to work because otherwise he would just take the ship and save Beverly and her son.
So the writers have it both ways. He is retired so he can't do anything and then at the end he can do everything because It's magic.
It's just terrible writing.
I tried writing some sci-fi short stories in high school and they were bad but all the writting being done today makes me feel like I shouldn't have given up.
I've never clicked so fast. Especially before CBS clicks
20:35 Alex "There are things within the Plot A section that have believability issues." | I liked how apparently nobody on the ship had ever heard of a medical tricorder before, they'd have sorted out the Jack Crusher mystery about five minutes into an episode of TNG.
Said the same thing while watching the episode. It's like the writers of this show have never seen the seven seasons of TNG.
Captain Shaw accepted Picard's command and told him it is on him once he found out the kid was his son and therefore a federation citizen that does need protection even though Captain Shaw is an ass he is still Starfleet and will uphold the ideals including keeping the kids safe
In general, Joe wants to like things, Alex wants to hate things, and OJ is just awesome
Thats not correct at all, if the show is objectively bad then Alex is the only true source of truth since Joe admit he watches it for the "memories" sake and the channel.

All of the new shows for Star Trek are treating Star Fleet as if they aren't a military organization. The writers don't know anything about military behavior or standards
Picard activates transport inhibitors. Then pretty much instantly forgets about them because later he's confused on why the Titan can't beam them over.

I thought this was nice.
I am loving Palmer as the villain. I see shades of her father. I love how much fun she's having in the role. I love how like her father did as the villain in undiscovered country, she's chewing the scenery in the best way. I love how off her speech pattern is.

Every episode Alex begs for Joe to stop them from having to review this terrible, awful show, and I love it
I've often wondered why he calls himself "Angry Joe" but always seems to give everything an 8/10. These Picard reviews are finally earning his name in my eyes. Way too many CZcams critics giving this show a pass. The writing stinks, glad someone is calling it out. Alex is killing it! Keep it up.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is awful too, but for some insane reason everyone is giving it an immense amount of praise, including Angry Joe. I absolutely hate how they portray Spock in that show.
Kira still has Sisko's baseball per Lower Decks, no way it ends up with some rando Ferengi. Good on the Ferengi makeup BTW, much better evolution of the look than what Discovery tried to do.
Iâm so curious how this is going to go now after Critical Drinker praised the show surprisingly
He did?! Interesting...
I don't get why people hold so much weight into what the Critical Drinker says. Drinker just goes with the popular narrative online and never seems to have any thoughts that are original. It's weird how over the past few years people view him as the most objective movie or TV show reviewer on youtube. I think shaw backed off when he realized he was his son.
How did Seven go from banned from Starfleet to commander in 1 year??
I mean she is former borg
They say that it's because Picard and Janeway vouched for her. But they seem to have forgotten that Seven is a genius scientist. She was constantly developing new technology on Voyager. She built their astrometrics lab, she built the temporal shielding in Year of Hell, she helped Voyager use a Borg transwarp coil to travel 20,000 light-years, she resurrected Neelix from the dead with Borg nano probes, she built the containment/stabilizer for the Omega Particle, etc. She's like Einstein + Nicola Tesla, it's so dumb that she's not doing anything scientific anymore. And it made absolutely no sense for Starfleet to ever reject her.
â@@KingOfMadCows Her entire character was completely warped for this show, but from never allowed in to commander in 1 year?? I cannot get over it.
It's as if the writers have never seen a full episode of the legacy shows. All they use is youtueb for clips, Wikipedia, and Star Trek wiki.
I haven't watch a single episode of anything Star Trek but, if Picard is a robot, why did they make him look old? couldn't they have built his body any way they wanted?
Alex is like Dumbledore in the movie Half blood prince when he is force by Harry in this case AJ to drink that cursed water đ Dumbledore is like no more and Harry is like we have to keep going professor đ! AJ we have to for the fans of our show
I remember that the actor for Picard stated he didnt want to be in a Reunion like Star trek series. But this whole show is literally just that, but with action. Now that Klingon is back too. So uhh wtf this so is just straight up nostalgia bait with a badly written story and really poor dialogue. Especailly from that curly haired FBI agent.
Alex cracks me up every time.
Clearly the subplot is tied in with why Picard's son is being hunted. If they hadn't had that subplot, when they eventually converge, you'd be complaining the 'revelation' came from no where. You can't have it both ways. I do agree though that when they go into that subplot, I'm willing it back to PIcard.
Another question is can a positronic copy of Picard give orders when he effectively dead and buried?
"Star Trek for Jake Paul" - Brilliant!
They shouldâve done these as movies. This whole episode was basically a ten minute sequent spun out for an hour.
Even season 1 and 2 could have avoided a lot of stupid if theyâd been 90-120 minutes not ten hours long
Alex sad face breaks my heart.
I have not seen any of Star Trek, but i have seen all Your reviews, and i love it
you should watch a little before half way through season one and onward of stng
I actually think shaw has been a highlight (second to Riker) and Iâve got a feeling heâll evolve into a well liked character. I could c him becoming a reoccurring character in later shows.
I think if the crew of Titan survive, Shaw and crew could be a way as a back door pilot to their own series. I just get those vibes.
I think the subplot with Raffi is fine, and pretty enjoyable. They're giving her something meaningful to do, it's intriguing how they're watching her into the story, the scene with Sneed was awesome, and now we get to see what she does with Worf.
I dig the villain so far, and it's early on. I'm sure there will be a lot more development for her.
Alex is just straight up cynical now. Ain't nothing that can please him. And, Sneed had Raffi take the drug just to fuck with her. He knew she was lying anyways.
I agree, and yet they give her the worst writing at times. It is the fault of the producers
18:53 "I want you to explain that Alex"
**Proceeds to explain himself**
lol
Well, here is why Raffis Ex reacts the way he reacts: She completely lost herself in the "The Romulan secret agency is responsible for the Syth attack on Mars" thing, back in Season 1. That is why she lives in the shack in the middle of nowhere. We know by now, that she was spot on there, but does the rest of the galaxy know, or was it kept under the radar. (Honestly, I actually don't know how they handled that after Season 1.)
So the husband sees here again, and thinks that she is still on that conspiracy shit, that tore their family apart, so he wants to protect their son from that influence.
THANK YOU!
Good to see a reviewer, who unlike Critical Drinker & co. isnât huffing the nostalgia fumes.
Joe is definitely still on the hate train like most of the commenters here.
@@MurphyOCP-001 Yup, seems like most people don't know all the behind the scenes stuff that happened. This season is essentially a different entity from the first two seasons.
@@shadowtrooper3764 or they do and know hating it for clicks will work for them.
@@usdutchkitty or, they are just giving their opinion, which is bound to piss off some people.
I liked it mostly, but itâs clear others didnât, and I do think there are clear faults with the episode, as Joe and Alex pointed out.
Watching your your Star Trek Picard reviews is more interesting than watching the actual show
And yet...somehow...some fucking way...Picard Season 3 is sitting at a PERFECT 100% CERTIFIED FRESH on Rotten. ARE YOU OUTTA YER MIIIND???!?!
Alex: "It's a turd sandwich"
AJ: "EAT IT!!"
Alex: "Omg... not again.. ok... *chewing noices... omg... it's a zero.."
OJ: "WHAT?!?!"
Alex: "Sorry... it's a 4"
AJ: "Thank you Alex.... I give this show a 6 out of 10! I see yalln the next oj show, bye!"
I wondering if I should watch this or wait for the re-upload.
Havent watched an ounce of star trek but I tune into these to hear the pure anger
I don't think they're banking on the fact they're legends for why the crew obeys him, at least not only. From the beginning we've seen Shaw's command style actually be quite detrimental to unit morale, for example when he was tearing Seven a new one in plain view of everybody in tbe bridge. Each of the bridge personnel showed with their expression they weren't on board with that, or him. Compared to that, Picard wanting to save his own son, hoping for the best of outcomes instead of compromising and, right then assuming his autority was just the push they needed. Shaw commanded respect and was efficient at it, but Picard always was the one who made you "want" to respect him and obey his command. It also didn't help that their first officer was also plainly on their side.
Short answer : Charisma and definitely more battle experience.
Even though she sounds unintentionally funny, the villain sounds entertaining at least.
It doesn't matter if I agree with you or not. I'm proud of you. We need freedom of opinion and you're always prepared and enjoyable. Much respect keep rocking
It's interesting that 7 of 9's presence in this is similar to Picard's in the original. The way she carries herself and comes across as competent.
I think you missed the point in Picard taking over.
He was posturing and taking over so intimidatingly(like he suggested early against the baddie) that they just listened because of intimidating confidence.
Last year I figured it was time to get into Trek so I watched DS9.
Loved it.
I'm going to go back and watch TNG eventually but I'm curious; I want to go ahead with Voyager and Enterprise, but should I go back to TNG 1st?
TNG is some of the best television ever. Season 1 is rough. I would consider just starting at S2 and saving season 1 as kind of a âdvd extrasâ once youâve finished the rest.
Yes you should watch TNG. It starts out a little rough and quality may vary episode to episode but the characters are the main attraction to me and when itâs good itâs REALLY good. I watched Star Trek in chronological order beginning with The Original Series and movies. I would recommend you watch them too. The Animated Series is more of an option.
Pretty much what the other guys said. DS9 is my personal favorite Star Trek, but TNG is a close second. (we do not talk about some of those movies though. )
Quality had some serious fluctuations, there are def some real stinkers in there, but when it was good it did SHINE.
Voyager to me was a very mixed bag, but still plenty of things I did like.
I do like the really old stuff as a guilty pleasure. Kirk in a way to me feels like one of the heroes into old adventure flicks, like indiana jones and so on - just in space đ
Same here. DS9 is so cohesive as a series that builds to amazing crescendo. TNG was groundbreaking and you fall in love with the crew.
In my opinion, DS9 is the best Trek. TNG is great from seasons 3 - 6. Season 1 and 2 are bad but still had some amazing episodes. Season 7 really feels like they were running out of ideas but still had some great episodes,. including an incredible series finale.
Voyager overall is weaker but it still has amazing episodes, it's just that there are a lot of episodes that are just OK, not good but not bad. You should look up some fan lists of essential Voyager episodes.
Enterprise started out very weak, but got much better in season 3 and great in season 4. Even though it's a prequel, it actually helps to have watched the other shows since you get to see how the Federation was formed and how earth made friends with these other species.
TOS is pretty outdated but there are some amazing episodes. Again, look up some fan lists for the best episodes.
As for the new shows, Discovery and Picard are terrible. Lower Decks is pretty fun but I can see why some people might not like its tone. Prodigy is surprisingly good but it's for kids, it's definitely one of the better kid's shows. Not as amazing as something like Batman: TAS or Avatar but still pretty fun. Strange New Worlds is good, it still has some of the weak writing of modern Trek but the actors are just so damn good.
Both Nerdrotic and The Critial Drinker have had early access to the full 3rd season and both say it's surprisingly really good and gets better as it goes, and they hated on the first two seasons. I trust their judgement on this as much as I refuse to go back and watch S02 it does make me want to watch this latest season.
I don't have the baggage of S1 & S2 and really have enjoyed it.
It's called selling out.
@@callumbush1 Yeah, Iâm sure the drinker cares a lot about what CBS and Paramount think of him, despite being willing to make an enemy out of every other studio. Makes perfect sense
@@callumbush1 I refuse to believe that for the critical drinker. When he says something isnt bad its true most of the time.
@@callumbush1 Iâm enjoying it alot and hate most new trek, so selling out huh?
Oh man, someone is full Doomcock and it's fair to be hyper bitter and jaded.
If he Hohn Crusher is Picard's son, why did Beverly name her after her late husband? Good point you may in the review of Episode 1. Accents are not inherited.
Because the writers think it's clever misdirection.
Because Star Trek is a soap opera now.
At least they got a diverse cast. That's all that matters Joe.
Sneed was impressed because she resisted the "truth serum" drug as Alex mentioned.
Jack crusher has been confirmed by the three actors (Gates, Patrick and speleers.)
Your disillusion with the show so far (S1 and S2) has been fuelling your pessimism because you've been making predictions on the story from the perspective of how S1 and S2 would have treated it and your joy is gone. Understandably so, don't get me wrong. You have no reason to assume that this season would be any better than the first two. But it's sad to see that you can't enjoy what we've gotten in S3 so far. Which, in my opinion as someone who has boycotted Star Trek since watching S1, is so authentically Star Trek that it's a completely almost unbelievable fluke. This season has righted the ship so hard and so right that I have to continually pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming and making this all up in a fantasy in my head.
I did love the cameo from Dr Evil's chair. Now all we need is a shark with some friggin photon torpedos stuck to it.
