FYI if you have trouble finding the .exe file you can go to Steam, right-click the game and then select "view local files" or something like that and it will open the folder you need. I never would have found it without that.

hey! thanks so much for making this tutorial, it was so helpful! it looks like the mod only recognizes the installed mods when run through the mod manager or the .exe file. if i try to launch the game through steam, the mod effects disappear. as i prefer to use steam's big picture mode so i can use a controller, would you happen to know if there's a way to adjust anything so i can still access the mods when playing that way? no worries if not - and thanks in advance for your time!
Hey I'm glad it helped! The steam big picture mode is definitely interesting and I see why you want to use it! I personally haven't used the big picture mode enough to know a fix for that, but there might be some forums of other modders that may want the same. Here's one that might be worth a try: steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1319962599256404729/ I hope you find a fix my friend, it seems like steam is opening the wrong shortcut (the original one) or something. I know it also may have to do with the steam overlay, see if there is a way to get the steam overlay running on the modded version. Thank you for the comment demonking 🗡️ I actually use the most recent version of the game 1.32, although there are still benefits to downgrading to the lower version to install older versions of certain mods. Most updated mods are fortunately made ready for version 1.32, I've installed over a hundred so far myself and haven't run into a problem with needing to downgrade 😁
@@ghostwindsamurai thanks for the fast response my man and that is good to know, I have the Steam GOTY version and did manage to mod the game just by dragging and dropping but it just decided to die so going to try using the mod manager. Plus if I don't need to downgrade that is definitely a bonus.

Hey Arturo! Glad you like the setup aha. I'm running atmospheric nights which makes night time really dark and realistic and super turbo lighting mod (STLM) to make the lighting really pop :) some people like to run Phoenix lighting mod which is also good, but I'm using stlm lol. I'm making a few videos to show what main mods I'm running, and more cool essential mods so stay tuned 🗡️

I run 2 texture mods, the first is the Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project and the second is HD Monsters Reworked Mod (HDMR). My best advice for when you are next on nexus mods is to click the "popular (all time)" tab for a great selection of mods. Hope that helps, happy hunting!

Thank You very much! Just a small doubt: for the 'Magic Spell' mod you need the spell books....I typed 'ashenmage' but the inventory is still empty....do I need to do something more.(Just downloaded the game starting new)
Depends which magic spells mod you may have downloaded 🤔, the one I downloaded (Magic Spells) had the option to install a version that unlocked them all from the questline which is what I opted for, so I am not sure how to solve your issue my friend. I do know there was a book that allowed you to create spellbooks, it was like a purple book or something you could get super early on, perhaps that may help 🤔😅
So I used vortex for my steam 1.32 goty version, seems I was able to download grade to 1.31 using the nexus mod through vortex though still shows 1.32 in the menu and the dlc not written onscreen and was able to apply other mods like HD master reworks and etc. Game running fine. Script merger was asked by vortex and downloaded and applied to all mods without issues. Playing through steam and ps5 controller, all mods working.

What mods do you have man? I'm curious specifically about the camera and combat mods, the vanilla combat is fine but that shit looks cinematic
Still working on getting a mod vid out but I am running smooth combat alongside immersive cam :) I also recommend combo blood, immersive motion and magic spells. Immersive cam is fire because it allows you to tweak the sliders and set custom camera angles, but I highly recommend reading the install notes on the mod pages before installing since they may have some extra steps to install! Happy modding my guy!

I may have missed this part in the video. Why is it important to move the game files from the windows protected folders (C drive program files folders) before installing the mods? Please someone explain

I really appreciate the videos you’ve made, but I’m a bit confused. How do I know when to put mods into The Witcher 3 mods folder, and when to put mods into the mods folder that’s connected to the mod manager/script merger? For example, in the video, you manually downloaded the mod and placed it in the folder that’s connected to the mod manager, but in step 14, you also showed how you would manually download a mod, but you put it in The Witcher 3 mods folder. Just a little confused. Any response would be much appreciated.
Great question AR6 i'm glad you asked. When modding for myself, every mod I download I immediately add it to my Original Mods Download Folder (even if it is for a manual install) that way I can have a reference to where that mod has been downloaded in case I need to reinstall said mod. From there I then install the mod whether it is by the mod manager method, or by opening the zip and dragging the necessary files into the Witcher game mods folder (remember to run script merger after manual installs too :). That is also why I urged people to read all "read me files" and installation instructions on nexus mod pages, so they know which way they can install mods after adding them to the OG mods download folder, hope this helps, happy modding!
Don't know if I can get anyu help, but EVERY single mod I try to merge opens a tab aying it solved for example "84/86 conflicts" and I can't get it to merge any script, know what that could be?
Nice Video. But whenever i try to add mods from the OG folder in Mod Manager, none of the mods are there even though i moved the zip files into that folder
whenever i move it out of my steam folder(and out of x86) it just redownloads it should i move my entire steam folder out of progam files x86?

I used team caffeine's video too but recently had to reset my windows and lost all my mods, sadly the video they uploaded was removed because it somehow violated youtubes terms of agreement, not sure how but anyway, my point is I wanted to say thanks and that this video helped me to be able to mod witcher 3 again!
how ever I am having a bit of an issue, when I add a mod, it runs script merger and says the mod is added to the manager but the mod itself doesn't actually show up, my manager is completely blank.
Yeah I'm annoyed they removed team caffeine's video too, the video didn't seem to break any guidelines from what I've seen so that's disappointing to see. But I'm glad the video helped! May team caffeine's spirit live through us all 💯

@@ghostwindsamurai I tried that and a few other things but nothing seemed to fix it, I ended up just deleting it and using Vortex instead, it appears to be working great so far but we’ll see once I’m done redownloading all my mods😂
When I try to run the game manually the mods doesn't work and when I try to run the game from Witcher script merger it says winerror(740) this request operation requires elevation ,any idea how to solve it?

Is it an error message screen after launching the game? Or is it the kdiff screen in script merger? Because if it is the error screen after you hit run, then there is a mod conflict and you should revert to your previous backup or manually delete the mod files. If it is a kdiff issue, then you have to choose which mod gets priority and save and exit

Thank you for your comment orestesdd! Yeah the Witcher 3 Mod Manager and Script Merger are exclusive to the Witcher 3 I believe. They were designed to provide a focused experience to Witcher 3 modders that might want more from their modding experience :)

@@orestesdd Hey again :) so I usually start the game from the mod manager to be safe lol. If the game doesn't start it could be 1 of two things: either the shortcut directory in the mod manager to run the game needs to be reset, or some mods installed may be incompatible. If their are incompatible mods, I would recommend un toggling them to see what might be causing the problem. hope this helps!

I'm at step 11, and I notice that when I look at the script merger screen I have two panes, each one with its own button on top. I just clicked "Conflits: Refresh" to be sure it was working. Now my question, do you know what "Merges: Refresh" actually does? Under the "Merges: Refresh" my pane is totally blank even after I click "Refresh". I hope someone or you could help. Encountering a new issue where after the Script finished merging, Im no longer seeing the mods in the mod manager on the left side. I still see them on the right side in their load order priority? What did I do wrong? I didnt change anything, I simply merged the mods and now theyre not listed, even after restarting mod manager? This one has been rough!
Hmmm that's interesting 🤔maybe send a screenshot to my discord if you can. If the mod is manually installed it won't show up in tw3mm, but if you are adding them through tw3mm then it should be there. Perhaps the mod directory is conflicting? Might be worth the double check to see if there are accidentally 2 mod folders in your Witcher 3 game files. Also try hitting the mods button (looks like a book) in the witcher 3 mod manager and see where it brings you, it should bring you to your mod folder with all the mods in there. If not the directory may need to be fixed. Yeah pretty interesting issue, I hope we can get through it L.L.F, feel free to drop any more info here or in my discord as well anytime :)
@@ghostwindsamurai I readded them through TW3MM to get them back, and I got through all conflicts, but previous mod files were already created from before and I couldn't figure out how to delete them and they were keeping the game from launching. Reinstalling everything right now in hopes to try again. I just might tomorrow! Thanks again
Hey, I'm trying to "run Script Merger" but when I do it says I'm missing files to run the merger and then I shows me a list with the links to said files. Any Idea what to do because you didn't have to do this when you started?
Hey A_Crows_Edits sorry to hear about this issue. On the script merger page on Nexus mods under the file tab, make sure you downloaded the main version of script merger and not the version without dependencies. Once the main version is downloaded, you need to repeat the steps from step 5, which is to make a folder inside of the Witcher 3 mod manager folder and title it "script merger" and in that folder you will paste all of the files from the script merger zip that you downloaded from nexus. Hope this helps :)
i did everything you said, all it says to me is "adding mods from within the game's directory is not supported. if you want to add existing mods to the manager you have to uninstall them first" like what do i do here. it doesnt let me do anything at all now nad its just stuck there. it only shows when im trying to add a mod into the og mod file even though i dont have anything in the witcher 3 folder. everything is set into its own folder just like you had it :/
Hey Gabriel, thank you for bringing this issue to the table! This is a problem I have definitely not seen before 👀 I looked into it and one of the possibilities may be that you downloaded the vortex variant of the mod opposed to the manual download, which might be why it isn't showing up. Butttt if that isn't the problem, it may be because you downloaded a good amount of mods and need to install the "mod limit fix" mod as there is a mod limit (not exactly sure what the limit is). If that doesn't help, I also heard that some people have trouble with Winrar and extracting from this forum: www.reddit.com/r/witcher3mods/comments/ek6skx/witcher_3_mods_not_working_seeking_advice/ and they fixed their issue buy extracting with 7zip instead. Not sure if that would be any help to you, but if it does/doesn't let me know! 👌
When I moved the mod completely outside of the Witcher 3 and steam folders, just into the D: drive, it ended up working

I have followed your guide step by step. I have a issue when i try to add a mod with mod manager "Adding mods from within the game's directory is not supported. If you want to add existing mods to the manager you have to uninstall them first." Werid cause I haven't installed any mods yet. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

i have mod enabled now and set my game paths in mod manager but now when i run script merger is says “Locate Wither 3 Wild Hunt” Game directory…. and when i go to the bin and then 64 it doesn’t pull up the game for me to link it? i already did the configure path part so i’m lost man. i also loaded game up and noticed no difference and then lost my save……. please help bro anybody

Hey plex hero, thank you for the comment! My best advice would be to set the script merger Witcher 3 directory path to the overall folder of the Witcher 3 game (you can see my directory at around 7:35 in the video near the top). If that doesn't fix your issue then see if you created the script merger folder and copied the correct files in the previous steps. Happy modding!

Honestly I don't see why it wouldn't work, I haven't personally tried it from the epic store myself so I can't really confirm it works. As long as you launch the game from the mod manager it should be fine. If for some reason the epic game store doesn't like you launching it from the mod manager, perhaps see if you can verify the game files in the epic launcher after you move the games location out of the epic folder, and if that fails try the vortex mod manager method ⚡. That's all I can think of from the top of my head that could go wrong, but it should work fine anyways 🌊 happy modding Witcher!

so i have a little problem. i like playing with controller more but i cant use the controller via the modmanager or the shortcut.
Hey H.S.P Krom-van Rijn, that's pretty unfortunate to hear. I am not sure if you are using steam or not, but I personally do not use a controller so this issue is pretty foreign to me. I found some forums where people had similar issues and managed to solve them: www.reddit.com/r/SteamController/comments/403v95/steam_controller_nexus_mod_manager/ I am not sure which controller you are using but this long blurb also came from another reddit post here: " Ok I figured it out!
I plugged back into the computer that it's been failing on and noticed steam popped a new Link up in the right of your games main page in my Library that said "Controller Configuration". I selected it and it said:
Configuration Support Disabled
Configuration support for the Xbox One Controller is disabled. Xbox One Controller support must be enabled in Steam's main Controller Settings and Support for the Game must be enabled under this game's Controller Options.
My controller on the WORKING PC was setup as an Xbox One controller in settings months ago using Steams recent support of it. But I never did that on the other box that it wasn't working on that we've been trying to figure out. It looks like maybe your game was using Steams support of the Controller? I think the reason it worked with other games is those games possibly had native support for the Xbox One Controller outside of Steam so it didn't matter if Steam recognized it or not. I'm just spitballing though. I never thought to look into Steam's native support because it was working on other games I assumed it wasn't a configuration thing.
At least now I know that the controller will likely be more compatible with other games now! Thanks a ton for your help on this, I feel stupid not figuring this out before. I was about to start testing on a Windows 7 box with different hardware as well haha.
To clarify:
Steam>Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings. Then register the controller. I also selected Xbox Configuration Support but that doesn't seem to matter as much." Whenever I try to open a mod in the mod manager, it just says i can't run mods from the game's directory even though its not in the directory. Any ideas?
Hey TheUberGeek! Perhaps try resetting the Witcher 3 mod manager directory location, or moving the folder location of your OG mod downloads, then reselect the mod directory folder for the og mod downloads in the mod manager. If for some reason it is script merger, then try to set the script merger Witcher 3 directory path to the overall folder of the Witcher 3 game (you can see my directory at around 7:35 in the video near the top). If that doesn't fix your issue then see if you created the script merger folder and copied the correct files in the previous steps. Happy modding!
you have to make a "mods" folder in the witcher 3 game directory itself and then once you do so, go to script merger and put the game directory as the witcher 3 folder where it has all of the things inside of it, not the actual witcher 3 exe, but the entire game folder. i hope this works for you because it works for me :D
Man i can not get the script merger to work for the life of me..... I have all of the mods showing in the mod manager, but as soon as i click run script merger it opens the script merger window and nothing happens..... Im positive i have followed the steps properly.
Hey 1zdunton, the issue may be the script merger directory. When in script merger, try setting the directory folder location to the overall Witcher 3 game folder. Hope this helps!

It is a Netflix style armor mod I found on nexus Mods, I would put the link but I'm not at my computer at the moment 😅 I use a different one now that I'll post in a later video but this one has always looked incredible 👍🏾

I forgot to ask these questions. 1-How do I know if I have conflicting mods? 2-If I do, how do I fix them? Hmm, after installing a few mods, and running the game within the mod manager, nothing happens. If I click again "Run the Game", it says, "Game is already running", but I don't even see it on my screen nor can I find it in Windows "Task Manager". I will stop it I try to run the game within Steam and see if it works. Any help will be appreciated.
Note: It did not run through Steam either. I may have to delete the game and reinstall it!

It should, but I recommend buying it on a steam sale or on CDKeys

Immersive cam and Immersive motion aren't merging and conflict
If you can, set priority to immersive cam. It may send you to a kdiff screen, there you can select A B or C for everything, (select the option that is immersive cam) and save and exit. That should set it straight, I haven't made a complex merging tutorial yet, but the great thing about this method of modding the Witcher is that with determination you can force merges with incompatible mods and make it work 😁
Whenever I try to move the game out of program files the game doesn't even work anymore
My best advice is to try to re download and install the game to a different location 👍🏾😁
