How to MOD The Witcher 3 Step By Step Guide // Links and MODs

Ever since my latest First Person Mod for Witcher3 video, I have been receiving so many msgs, requesting a HowTo video, how to mod Witcher3? So, I am listening to you all and here is a video, explaining my approach into modding this gem of a game.
At first, I used to be terrified by Script Merger and really, had no idea what to do, I now feel more comfortable using it, trying it and you know what? if a mod or script doesnt work? I try something else, it is very simple to pick and choose what works best and if need be, just to avoid complicated merges.
In this video I am showing where to download mods, how I install Mod Manager, Script Merger and how I actually install these mods and merge them when needed.
Enjoy and please write below if you have any questions, I will do my best answering what I can, mind you, I am no real expert in modding, I learn as I go and it takes a lot of trial and error. If you enjoy doing so like me, I think we are on the same page ;)

Yayyyyeah, you will not regret this. I have a bunch of extra mods that are extremely necessary and I’ll add them to the list in the description.
HD rework that really put the game on a different level, slow mo in battle and such. Am-azing!

Such an amazing game TW3 is, I love messing around with different mods, getting it to look and play even better than what it is. I have the game running with about 65-70 mods that make it such a delicious piece of art :)

Hey quick question... Apparently all my drivers have program files on them... so would that mean I would not be able to Mod the witcher 3 at all? I've been trying to do it but when i start the game up it does a script compiling process and then it gets around 80 or so Errors... I feel I am doing something terribly wrong but I do not know..
Would it be possible to have a tutorial on Sarcen's Mod editor? I'd love to change the colour of clothes and stuff, but I don't understand the function of all the types of files, meshes and where they are all hiding. I have only really made character swaps but would like to delve deeper. ^_^' Mostly to change clothes colors and swap around items/body parts. Thank you!
Is the community patch base still necessary? It's no longer in the description for the 1st Person mod, and on Nexus it says it's no longer necessary.
I tried yesterday, 1080p monitor, ultra setting, quest 3, virtual desktop, but it was very blurry, any idea why ?

6:40 whenever I try to run the mod manager it always says “please select your Witcher3.exe in the next dialog” and I can’t find it. I need help.
So, you can't get mods on witcher, if your game installed on C drive?
I've been modding the Witcher 3 for a couple of months now with the Witcher mod manager, along with using script merger. I don't have a ton of mods, and my game seems stable, should I have installed the Community patch and boostrap utilities? Some modding guides tell you to install it, and some don't even mention it, so it's a little confusing.
I know! If it works for you, I wouldn’t worry about it. I think I had to install it because of one or two mods that I really wanted to retest wouldn’t work otherwise. I think they were first person related but there’s a great mod for it now that could work without the com patch. Again, if it runs for you, enjoy it my friend! All good 👍🏽
Hi, how do i make sure the game is installed outside a protected folder? Can I just install it inside the same HDD but outside the Programs Folder? I just drag it outside and I'm trying to follow the other steps.
Or may I need to get another hard disk?
You could change the directory of where your Library games are installed and by that, take them out of C Program Files. You basically do it through Steam Settings, it is harmless and useful

can someone tell me how to add the Mods submenu under the options. I failed to find anything that lets do that so I can install other gameplay mods.
Hey my friend, did you use the 1.32 to 1.31 patch? Some mods don’t work with version 1.32… watch this video from minute 08:25 I show about the patch
@@IamVRan Hey there VRan and thanks for you the reply. well i did but then my saves won't load saying that my save is of a newer version of the game. and I thought to listen to crthdr saying that it is not needed.
@@13thlion Oh I see, yeah the save games would not work on a previous version. But, just for the experiment, try backing up your saves and patch the game, try installing the mods you want and see if they are in the menu. That way you'd know ;)
@@IamVRan I'll try that thanks. btw, I have 41 mods active all installed using NMM without even changing the game directory from C drive and it was all working fine. but all of them don't change fundamental gameplay such as SCAAR. can you give me an example of a Mod that has this "Menu Strings" included in order to experiment. also, should I reroll all the mods installed using NMM/Vortex and install using TW3 MM?
I got an error I have no idea how to fix
I go into Mod Manager and I press run script merger but when I do it says “Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.” Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Im new to PC and modding. I would really appreciate it.
P.S. at the bottom it says “ Could not find a part of the path”

I think it is your path to merger. In Mod Organizer (manager) there is a little arrow down where the name merger is, click on it, then, the window that opens up, press on and there, make sure the path is correct to launch script merger, then apply

@@wito0220 it’s not an arrow per say it’s an indicator that there’s a drop down menu? You know what I mean?
@@IamVRan yes but it doesn’t allow me to click on it. It’s greyed out. Is there any way I could contact you or show you my screen? And if not can is there a way I could start over from scratch?

Hey, no, what you can do is simply add another location on your pc that Steam downloads and installs games into. (Launch and log in to Steam, go to Settings>Downloads>Then look for a button called Content Libraries and then press on - Steam Library Folders. There you'd see your C:/ Drive where you have it all installed. You could press on the + button to add locations. Then you could easily select from the list a game and press on Uninstall or Move and direct it to where you want Steam to move your game to. It wont harm anything, it would still be on your Steam Library. It is pretty awesome :)
thank you so much for the vid but I have a problem, I had already played the game on 1.32 and now that it is on 1.31, I cant play my last saves, any key how to deal with it?

Someone told me before to try and go back to 1.32 and to install this first (www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3374), then change to 1.31, see if that works (I doubt it will though :( ) you know how to go back to 1.32? (Verify the game’s integrity on steam)
uh no could you explain how to go back to 1.32? cause I dont find the game's integrity that u talking about

2. you can either right click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game's Library page on the far right
3. From the drop down menu, select Properties...
4. Select the Local Files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button
5. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes

Mod manager refuses to work, always giving cx_freeze
Try updating your Display Adapter drivers, it usually fixes CX_Freeze
@@IamVRan I didn't do that, but it did start working. I don't remember how or why, but I finished the game with like 80 mods so less go. Good game

I got to downloading the 1.31 mod and now the game just crashes?
it wont open, only crash
@@OJ_024 ouch, really? That is nuts, do you have anything else installed when you run 1.31? I’m wondering if there’s some sort of clash that doesn’t allow the game from loading. Maybe a mod that won’t allow without a fix

It should, of course, as long as the game is accepting mods. The modding community is the best. They’ll release new versions of mod manager or others to accommodate
does mods affect fps though?
There are some mods that will, especially graphics and the mods that are textures overhaul, so on nexus mods site, usually there are few levels of resolutions to choose from, depending on your GPU and CPU... mod cautiously ;)
tried this guide step by step only getting instant crashes now. sorry to say this methods not working now. save your time people

Script Merger detects conflicts , says they are mergeable but....they are not....
I can't even add a mod menu in game without compilation errors:))
