not gonna lie, the thing that really got me freaked out wasn't when the people glitched away, but when the man left behind says "guys?" and his voice is so small and full of terror. the acting there was incredible. the fear the character was feeling was so obvious in his voice that you can feel it. it wasn't just someone calling out for his team, but it was so much more. you can feel his terror and anxiety in just that small utter. i am amazed.

MatPat saying he hadn't considered the backrooms to be malicious is interesting.
Because I thought that's WHY, he was looking for evidence of any layout change.
I was assuming he already believed it to be sentient, malicious, trying to trap, and confuse you.
Because that's what, I, initially assumed was the case.
    It always felt like that.
Like, SCP-87, the stairs, where you constantly going through, this, living, conscious entity, as it's trying to torment, and destroy you.
That's how I've viewed the backrooms.
Sorry I don't remember the number.
I know it's double digits, SCP-86? Or, 89? Something like that.
    I cannot recall exactly.
But, as far as theories, and, the ending.
I was wondering, because the whole time I was expecting to see the "monster" the creature roaming the halls, and you mentioned you were thinking the same, that's what his fate was, meeting this creature.
    But he didn't.
And, the alarms going off when he, returned, when he entered the, "real world" or I suppose the "front room" you could say.
What if, HE, IS, the creature?
He came across what appears to be the mold.
    25:35
He never ran into any other sign of "life" he got separated from the group, he was wandering back there, for, WHO, knows how long.
Is is possible that a SIGNIFICANT, amount of time has passed?
You could the place be abandoned?
    Why is no one around?
The function of the alarm makes me think there are some people still working there.
But, why hasn't he seen the people he entered with.
WHY, would the alarm go off?
    What's the alarm for?
    Threats? Intrusion?
    Something, unrecognized?
    Something, not, human?
    Just a thought.
What if he got infected and became the creature we've seen?
I, haven't really been 100% on the time, the dates, I'm not in my life, so, in fiction is no different.
So, if it doesn't line up in that regards, supposed just forget what I've said.
But, you did say he looked like a tripod.
And he, IS, carring a, CAMERA.
    Coincidence?
    Probably.
But, hey, that's just my thought.
    Thought I had watching this.
Though, I think this is multiple.

    Oh well!

I agree with your theory about the cameraman becoming the monster. It could just be pure coincidence, but when they open the exit door around 34:40, right before it opens you can hear them breathing quite unnaturally, and very quickly. Another potential quality of a backrooms monster. In the official canon lore on the wiki’s and stuff there are levels where humans sometimes mutate into monsters if they meet specific conditions. So your theory isn’t that far-fetched.

Why would this concept of altering the fabric of space not alter the fabric of time as well, after all.

The thing about the cameraman's friends disappearing. When exploring Level 0, the yellow-walled maze level, it's VERY easy to lose your party members, and this is probably Kane's interpretation on what this concept means. Once you're alone, you're pretty much in an "private server" type of thing (I like to use the private server analogy for this). You could be in the same place at the same time, but in a different "server", if that makes sense. For all we know, all of the people in the cameraman's group could have been transported to different "servers" but all of them would have stayed in the same spot.
The only way to find each other again is if they exit the level either back to reality or find a way to get to Level 1. Level 0 is possibly the most populated since it's the most common place to be sent to after clipping into the backrooms, however there is no way to gauge the population in there since it's nearly impossible to sample it. Most people, however, likely would want to be in Level 1 because they can find and help each other, even though there is a chance you may run into an entity in the dark.

Hi MatPat! I'm 1000dumplings, the creator of the Partygoers. They were an entity I made for the Backrooms Wiki (wikidot) which is a totally separate Backrooms lore from Kane Pixels' series. Sorry about all the Partygoer comments though... I made them very appealing and simple on purpose so they'd get popular, but it's really gotten out of control. But thanks for mentioning them regardless! =)
Their actual 'lore' is very simple as I mentioned. They're tall yellow monsters with red smiles on their faces. They're constantly in a state of euphoria, and are obsessed with having parties and eating cake, along with an innate desire to turn anyone they find into Partygoers too. Their faces are flat, with no holes, so they eat and transform people with the lampray-eel-like toothy mouths on the ends of their arms.
There's also the "Partypoopers", which I didn't personally create, but are still pretty important for their lore. They're failed Partygoers that are always sad, but still benevolent, wanting to protect innocent wanderers in the Backrooms from the Partygoers. They're all dead now, supposedly.
Anyways, the Partygoers and any other Almond Water (not milk) type lore is all from the Backrooms Wiki, which are like the SCP wiki, but for the Backrooms; Made by a bunch of people together. You should check out those wikis, like the main Backrooms Wiki and Liminal Archives, but try not to equate them from Kane Pixels' version of the Backrooms! Thanks again for mentioning the Partygoers, I've been a fan since my childhood and its super cool to see you talk about them. Take care! -1kd

  • @The_Anti-Guide
    @The_Anti-Guide Před 2 lety +6

So I looked into the distinction between the lore to figure out the authenticity of the partygoers, there's technically four canons that have been accepted currently. However Kane's does not quite fit into any of these:
    - Pure Canon includes only the backrooms: Yellow wallpaper, hum of fluorescent lighting, wet carpets, etc. And a single something wandering around. Done and done.
    - Traditional Canon includes levels 0, 1, and 2. None of which are featured in Kane's, save for 0 (The Backrooms)
    - The Main Nine includes levels 0-8. This canon is the same as the Traditional Canon but adds additional levels.
    - Unrestricted Canon which has an indeterminate number of levels. As of right now there are so many levels that Clusters have been made, each cluster is 1000 levels. Effectively being similar to the SCP Foundation's "Series." There are 4 total Clusters, with two being stable and two being unstable. Additionally there is also a Negative Cluster which contains negative levels such as level -1 which is a hallway of doors which lead to either level 0 or level 2. (The Fandom contains all the clusters while the wikidot contains only the first cluster)
Kane's canon has, in Found Footage, confirmed the existence of multiple levels, so it is not the Pure Canon. We can also rule out Traditional and Main Nine because none of their levels contain either of the additional ones in Kane's canon. Kane's canon seems to be an adaptation of the Unrestricted canon. I say this because in the Unrestricted Canon, level 0 has _no_ entities to speak of whilst Kane's does. The fungus found on John Doe (possibly Kane himself) seems to be similar to Entity 17 (The Crawlers) but they don't appear to go to level 0. The level after 0 in Kane's canon also does not line up with level 1 in the Unrestricted Canon.

Incidentally, we see this shortly after the large, theatre-like room is shown, so maybe there's a connection there? Who knows, maybe the partygoers are trying to put on a show...
Also, I'd be cautious about pulling from the existing lore, simply because so many people have added to it and a lot of it is frankly ridiculous. If I were Kane, I'd start by assuming that ONLY the original 4chan post is canon, and building from there, which I think the series so far has done.

Oddly, they remind me of sometimes dreams I have; where the place is decepit, musty and abandonned, except for the overwhelming feeling that it is haunted by lonely spirits. these places in my dreams always take the form of a forgotten place, accessible thru a tiny hallway. the hallway is tiny in height and width, but long and twisting, turning; and carpetted with a grimy musty carpet. I've found a mansion there, but again so decrepit, that one would not want to explore it long, if at all.

I think it could be related to the mold thing we keep seeing, and I don't think the coughing is unintentional since Kane is animating everything we see. Something else I found interesting is when we watch the group of people walk together we catch a glimpse of one of their legs and what looks like to be mold on the pant leg. I think that that is an important detail that tells us why they are wearing hazmat suits and we can see how fast this mold can start to grow.

After watching a few of your reaction videos, I did a little bit of "research" of my own of the original backrooms and from what I know, the level Kane uses in his videos is level 0, and in this level in particular, the backrooms literally tries to separate you from other people and make you go insane from how lonely and quiet it is. So it is almost impossible to travel in a group in this level. This could be why one decided to make the people disappear, leaving the other guy alone.

partygoers: a race in the backrooms of tall, somewhat slender yellow skinned humanoids. their flesh is leather-like and hard to puncture. their face is carved into their head and quite bloody with a constant smile. they generally hold balloons but something to note is they don't have hands, rather, they have holes into their arms where hands should be. the holes have rows of rows of sharp teeth, this is where balloons can come from, noone knows how. if they grab a hold of you and sink the teeth in for long enough you'll turn into one of them. they lure people with their balloons.

I don’t think that the maze changes itself but that the maps we’ve seen are maybe just different floors since we know there’s multiple levels. Also I’d be really interested to see the perspective of the people who haven’t glitched, do they know someone is missing? It very well could be that the last time someone did, it triggered a monster attack of some kind, and now the group ensures no one ever makes that mistake again.
Edit: Also, it's almond _water_ that drips from the walls, _not_ almond milk. Almond water is a substance unique to the backrooms made from a plant called almond wheat (grown on a different floor from the ones we typically see) and while the instances found in bottles and cartons are not only safe to drink but even taste _good_ (a mix of almond and vanilla flavors), the kind that seeps through the walls and floors are tainted with poisonous Carpet Fluid and is not safe to drink, even if you try filtering or even boiling it first.
