When Mat was looking at the video dates, he missed an error if this is supposed to be our world. the date 2/29/1990 would make that year a leap year. Feb 29th.

Going with the theory that objects in the backrooms can get turned into monsters, it would be cool if the tripod the girl dropped in with turned into the monster that chases Kane in the first ever backrooms upload as Found Footage is dated a year after the events of Found Footage #2

    • @shadowboi3684

I think it’s more likely that the tripod monster came from the motion detected video shortly after we see some sore of creature come into frame during that video the recording cuts. So it’s possible whatever we saw would have been more likely to interacted with the camera and tripod of that video. Another strong point that would lead me to believe that the tripod monster is not from the tripod we see dropped in this video is that the tripod monster from found footage 1 seems to be in the same location that the motion detected video takes place whereas found footage 2 seems to take place somewhere completely different

Hot take: James (car driver) is the Entity. He talks about how "the house was taken by the sea" "cast down to the seabed with all the forgotten things" possibly implying that the sea bed (a huge empty space of unkown depths) is the backrooms themselves, as weve seen the tripod and cricketballs also being phased through to a place where they wouldnt be noticed if they went missing... Also, going back to the Entity, he states "I remember, fleeting shells sinking ever slowly, folding downwards into themselves" could be refrenceing after he left the car wreckage, he died in that room and his cells literly break down slowly, decomposition style, but he was aware of it as "nothing remained except the eternal ghost" his soul, was caught "forever tearing along the seams of the sky" so maybe (instead of just the horizon) the living earth and maybe heaven? or the space between "reality" and what the backrooms are. So James dies, is aware of his body decomposing, then the cells left produce something new (the whiteboards talk about cells) and the entity, with the soul of James, is rebuilding itself. The entity doesnt wake up untill its disturbed. Also in the first found footage, as thats dated after FF2, hes more mobile mobile/vocal, and you can even hear it asking for help.
"And you ask yourself, could there ever be anything greater than this?"... "THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HERE"
Implying before Async, before the Entity, theres something much older, or something in control. If you look closely, the small gap she escapes through to get into that last dead end room, just before the green cracks appear, the gap becomes wider, hence the intentional angle hugging the left wall...
Thats my take on it. Gotta say, KP has truely turned the backrooms and liminal space into something truely amazing, his channel is one of the few i have "dinged that bell" for!

I mean, we do see the body in autopsy report, but that doesn’t look like James’ body at all, so we can infer that it’s Kane, or someone else who fell in.

No offense but there's multiple ones, a really tall and lanky one in pitfalls, a semi-tall one with no arm in ff#1 and a pretty short and slow one in ff#2 that has a weird diagonal stripe texture if you look close enough. Also ff#1 roars and screams, ff#2 Moans loudly ( I think but I muted most of the entity chase because the roars haunt me at night) and pitfalls entity can mimic voices. Also time gets messed up in the backrooms, the dates in the desc. Could be when they were found or time got altered. I think they're all different people who got infected by the bacteria.
Edit: there's also another short one that leans over weird and looks like a tripod that catches Kane at the end of ff#1

one of the first people to move into the "Residential Backrooms", and the tape is just, like... a souvenir to remind them what the outside world is like (especially in case they start a family and have a child in the Backrooms who had never known "the real world"-- kind of like the underground bunker at the end of Downsizing), and so the photo we see, with the keyboard, and The Painting in the background, is, like... "Our First Night In The New Place", or something like that.
I could be way off, of course; that's just the first place my mind went.

Noticing all the concepts for the use of the Backrooms by A-SYNC, makes me think they were trying to "code" the backrooms to have a lot of these features: road signs for transit, furniture for residential, warehouses, and endless offices. I think in creating it though, there was a possible glitch, which is why everything appears tainted or slightly off. Maybe because alternate dimensions follow different laws of science and are not compatible or a faulty AI from the 90's? Lot's to consider from this.

If A-Sync was developing showrooms to present to the Government representative to continue their funding, it would make sense how those "assets" ended up in the Backrooms. And if the Backrooms themselves are a glitchy computer program, then in its procedural generation it could be inserting those assets repeatedly as though they were part of the original program. We haven't seen A-Sync try that level of manipulation of the Backrooms, they've only ever tried manipulating the physical layout through walls and the tether line. Which is why it seems as though the space itself is the one gaining these assets and doing weird things to them.

He commented that it looked somewhat like an upside-down mushroom cloud. That "mushroom cloud" is actually the sunset at the end of the home_27647 . mov video. I don't know if it means anything important, but it's there.
I'm also absolutely shocked that Matt didn't lose his mind just before the found footage girl was swallowed up by the green glow. The passage she squeezed through to get into that dead end was very narrow. When she turns the camera in her panic at the end you can see the narrow entrance ACTIVELY WIDENING. This is the first time we have seen the walls change their configuration. The walls have had a constant shape up to this point which was why the scientists could explore and map out the shape of the backrooms, this is the first example of it ever changing shape.

The back rooms can change based on the occupants will, to some degree. The original entity had a longing for familiar surroundings. Hence the home. But memory is faulty and the house isn't complete or truncated.
The explorers just accept what the back rooms are and so don't change it... normally.
The woman, desperately wanting out, made the section she was in dissolve.
The camera man, wanting a way back faced with a drop in front of him. He gets caught but the camera escapes.
The glowing lights are parts reforming. Usually not seen as the change may effect people.

Mostly because if you take away any knowledge of the Backrooms and the monsters then it makes perfect sense that people would wish to colonize and map out this space for trade and other things. Also it implies Async may have some idea of how to determine where a threshold will appear when opened as well they would need to know that to create transportation lines.
Also it introduced an idea a lot of people overlook which is that it seems thresholds cannot be closed once opened. If you notice they close a shutter at night over the threshold rather than close the portal. This to me says they cannot close is for one reason or another and that even if the project shuts down the damage may be permanent.

Pretty sure people you and Mat are just over thinking that one. Like some other people have mentioned, it's most likely literally just an image of the Earth that has been rotated 90 degrees. You can see the glare of the sun where "North" would be based on the image alone which suggests that it's probably just a rotated image since the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. On top of that, as you said, Africa and South America are in the same general vicinity of where they would be in a non-rotated image. We also know that it's most likely a rather normal looking Earth if the US looks exactly like it does in our own universe. IE, if you tilt the image 90 degrees, it would literally just be the same as our Earth.

For those wondering, Kane Pixels confirmed that Async didn't create the backrooms, they only tapped into it. We can assume that the Backrooms evolved as humanities technology evolved. I theorize that the world the Backrooms is set in isn't a simulation, but tends to act like one, and Async tapping into the interdimensional space that is the Backrooms has sort of glitched reality, causing the null zones. This could be because, since the portal opened a gateway from Earth to the Backrooms, the gateway has sprouted to different parts of the Earth. That's just my take on it
Update: some small things I noticed: firstly, the guy in Missing Persons is clearly sitting next to holes that are connected to the pitfalls. I don't know why I haven't seen more people mention it, maybe this was obvious to other people, but I just noticed it lol. Also, going back to Found Footage #1, there was a moment when he looked at an endless pit connected to what looked like a facility. I think this is Kane's way of connecting one level of the backrooms to another, as you could see the jump from the pool rooms to level 0 in Found Footage #2. Thats about it

@mcbuttmaster42 That's a misconception based on how most games or other animations will present getting from level to level. It isn't an elevator, or an obvious exit. The levels have always had connection points in the original Wikipedia. The term "level" isn't used as stage but more as floors in a building would be called levels. Levels in the backrooms even have sub-levels. The areas Kane has presented in his videos so far are real levels in the backrooms wiki. Correct me if I'm somehow wrong though

I think I see where you’re confused. You know the backrooms isn’t owned by Kane right? Those levels other creators make videos about like level fun are from the original backrooms wikipedia which have been around since 2018. Kane has only popularized the idea of the backrooms this year because of inspiration. Async and some ideas like the pitfalls are his original canon, but he clearly is going for the level system the original creepypasta does, because the poolrooms and red neighborhood are from the wikipedia. They aren’t fan made levels, they are from the original backrooms that Kane based his series on, and thats all there is to it. Also the bacteria from level 0/the level with the yellow wallpaper you see most is just his design of a howler, thats already known.

This feels like a different version of what the Upside Down is in "Stranger Things", but instead of exactly mirroring the real world, its more random.
Also, did you notice that the wood chips were not present on the backrooms floor when the person Noclipped through the hole? Makes me wonder if passing through the noclip portal teleports the person to random locations. The only way Async was able to make temporary constructions inside the backrooms was because they found a way to keep the portal open for an indefinite amount of time. I have a theory about the "I remember" video. What if the guy speaking (possibly James) was talking about his own (possible) death and what happens to those who die in the backrooms?
In the video when he states that he had a manor, what if instead of it being a literal manor, it's more metaphorical and he's referring to himself as the manor? Later, when he states "But when the skies turned dark. The house was taken by the sea", what if that refers to him dying in the the backrooms after he no-clipped? (The sea being the backrooms) and him saying that the skies turned dark refers to when he died.
Next, when he says "A pillar truncated" He could be referring back to how his life was cut short because of a bacteria monster and him saying "Cast down to the seabed with all the other forgotten things" means that he died a missing person. Forgotten = missing in the case.
"Fleeting shells sinking ever slowly" might refer to the others who fell into the backrooms, but that's kind of a stretch.
"Folding downwards into themselves" is still stumping me though, so is "Forever tearing along the seams of the sky".
However, him saying "Until nothing remains except the eternal ghost" could talk about how those who die in the backrooms become the bacteria monsters (as stated by an existing theory that people who die in the backrooms become bacteria monsters) making their souls eternal and unable to pass on.
And finally when he says "And you ask yourself... could there ever be anything greater than this?" it could mean that he's aware of the researchers at A-Sync (as shown by the guy in the hazmat suit) and blaming them for his fate due to the fact that they are the ones who opened the portal making it possible to no-clip in the first place. Also, side note. Him saying I remember could mean that he remembers dying because he eventually became a bacteria monster after dying and his soul still remains thereby allowing him to remember.
