What do you think of the new SCOTT Addict RC? Is it hot or not? Will Adam Yates ride it to Tour victory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below
Early reviews suggest (imply) that it is not a very comfortable ride? Has GCN any input on that suggestion
Brian Herlihy itâs a bit small for me, and I donât think Adam would have appreciated it đ

What's not to love about it?
Another great vidâ from you guys đ by chance did you measure the cranks length?
6.85 with the ***bottles*** too! They probably need the transponders to make it UCI legal.
the transponder gets added on too you're right and yes with bottles and the garmin!
I think this is the first pro bike you've done that would actually fit me! Huzzah for a 48cm frame and 38cm handlebars!
A WILD JEREMY APPEARS!!
That Scott Addict is now one of my dream bikes. Unfortunately I can't afford it.

Wow 6.85kg with the deep wheels and discs and integrated cockpit...looks like my perfect bike
It's great eh?

are we sure those bottles were empty??? lol cracking piece of kit!
Love the paint job on the bar and stem. :D
It's corking eh?
@GCN Tech - Syncros is an old school company started in 1986 that has been acquired by Scott (2012). Think like Thompson components, but before Thompson was around (started in 1996). I have their seat post and stem on my 1997 Rocky Mountain Hammer, they were a small Canadian shop based in Vancouver, the same place as Rocky Mountain and Race Face.
What a beautiful bike. I'm jealous.
shimano freehubs always pleasant sounding!

Eagerly waiting for prices and Scott's website to be updated.
Ahhh...
Absolutely fantastic bike
One of the hottest new bike we have seen in a while. Can shimano get in 2019 and release decent climbing shifter? That climbing shifter on the Addict is just ridiculously big and ugly
Will you make a Video from the cube aero bike from Team Wanty ?
Yes, please!! Please GCN!!
I don't like Cube but I do want to see a review of it
Didn't manage to get it in our first excursion, but we are trying to get it for you!
@Chuck neither do Scott, so that't not true. We always disclose our sponsors and to produce high quality content, for free on youtube, simply wouldn't be possible without our sponsors.
Oliver Bridgewood we love what you do Ollie. Sponsorship is far nicer than the ad model (which is okay too, âspecially with cycling!!).
not sure what adam will say about the new crack in his top tube from the bar strike
Is the frame made out of fucken glass???
I'd take that over the old Addict or the Foil. That thing is now one of my favorite bikes. Full stop. It's brilliant.
Heyyyy! I love this videos of the bikes and thanks for all the hard work but I think it would be even better if there was at least one video with the riders themselves explaining their bike setup or giving a tour. I can appreciate if this quite difficult to arrange but it would be soo coool!!
Itâs a good looking bike. I knew it was just a matter of time before the disc brake bikes got much lighter.
Its light because it is a small frame.
@@coldforgedcowboy Yeah, but still impressive weight with disc when compared to frames of the past.
JPow is awesome, just awesome....
pretty cool BMX bike
That UCI sticker.... SCOT ADDICT
frames are going to have to fully integrate hydraulic brake lines and then Shimano will some day go wireless. Maybe Campy will beat them. The DI2 wires look ridiculous when everything else is hidden.
Campy still doesn't have the junction box which can be hidden into the frame. It also doesn't have the affordable 12 speed eps (disc brake) groupset. Hate to say it, but Campy seems to be slow to respond to the market.
@@xiaoliuwu8539
Campy doesn't try to target itself as the go to OEM provider. And because they're smaller they have to be more selective about when to lead, follow, and ignore. Typically when they're apparently behind it's because they're working on setting a higher standard.
@@indonesiaamerica7050 Sigh. I am currently on a mechanical ultegra disc brake group set. Even though I really want to have a campy if I upgrade to a 12 speed groupset, I will probably just stick with Shimano as I can't justify for the extra money super record or even record groupset.
Wow amazing cycle, I am huge fan of cyclists. Real athletes. My favourites include RogliÄ(obviously), Van Aert and Yates
I thought the y-shape on the bars was to give the cables a less extreme angle to head into the headset?
Jonathan Snell would make sense đđ»
J. powers with the calves omg dude !
In the biggie smalls âïž, can't work out if the cranks are not quite horizontal and valves not a 6 and tyre logo not lined up â.....still supernice đ and great vid...... Keep up the good work everyone, such a great channel
Confirming that SeatPost had a setback and the computer mount is Syncros nots K Edge (probably the reason they need a darn tether).
I noticed that Syncros integrated cockpit on Adam's bike has traditional bend drops, while all the Addicts listed on Scott's website seem to have compact drops. I don't see an Syncros cockpit with a traditional round bend on sale anywhere. As a small rider with proportionately small hands I like how traditional bends bring the brake levers closer to my fingers when descending/cornering in the hooks.
Is this another one of those questionable/grey areas regarding the UCI rule where pro riders' equipment must be for sale to the general public? Like the 3D printed aero bars used by Team Sky (now Ineos) on their Pinarello Bolides.
6.85 kg for a disc brake bike with 2 bottle cages.... but it's a size 48 cm.
Saludos, es una hermosa maquina đšđ·đ€
Itâs a cool bike but I still have my heart on the BMC team machine.
Would an Addict be better than a Foil for drafting group rides? Where big climbs can be involved as well.
My bike 14kg ...that bike 6.85, that is faaaassst! I want it
6 watts faster and 6 times better looking đ
It's a beauty eh?
Yes sir it is đâ€
If it has 6.85kg, with smaller rim profile would go below the 6.8kg limit, will it not? Is that Legal? (Honest question)
With lighter wheels the weight will be too low so likely to add some ballast to bring it back up. Bit of a moot point from Ollie saying itâll be even lighter with climbing wheels given the UCI limit is the barrier for lightness.
Why would he swap to c40 wheels if the bike is already bang on the uci weight limit with c60 ?
Less rotating weight i guess.
Mordiiax
Good point. Might as well pop a few strips of lead somewhere and have less rotating mass for the climbs.
6.85 with discs, deep sections and bottles? Wow
Wow?? It's a child's bike!
and bottle cages with bottles too!
Nice bike, wonder what an XL frame would weigh
6.85k but it is a size 48 that's way tiny. I wanted to hear the tire size, with all the chat about how everyone is using wide tires, those look like 23mm to moi? I think most of the Tour Pros are still using 23mm.
My old Scott Addict 4 is a 2008 size 54cm and weighs 14# 10oz. 6.65k ready to ride one bottle when I weighed the bike. It's built with carbon tubulars and Campy Super Record 11sp.
Woah! thats looks hella light i bet its lighter than my cervelo
everything is lighter than your bike
@@2darkdragon xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I'm looking to built a sub 1300 gram climbing wheel set to get to the sub UCI 6.8 Kg weight limit.
The wheel build will be
i) Hope RS4 hubs 32 hole - front 132 grams - rear - 262 grams = 394 grams
ii) Light Bicycle RRU25T02 25mm tubular rim - 330 grams each. = 660 grams
iii) Pillar Titanium spoke X-TRA Lite Ti - 2x32 - 2 x 87gram = 172 grams
iv) Pillar Brass Nipples 0.95 = 30.4 grams = 61 grams
Total = 1287 grams
Has anyone used these Titanium spokes or should I use Sapim CX rays for an extra 100 grams heavier?
i want to know the length of crankarm. please tell me.
Is this bike race legal? Take off the bottles and cycle computer, and add the race number, and it is likely to be under the UCI 6.8kg lower limit. Substitute climbing wheels on, and it will be even lighter.
Do the mechanics add weight to the frame to bring it up to legal spec? What do they use? Lead tape near the bottom bracket?
1:27 "we've got no through-axle on the front here". What? There's no QR skewer either so how do you get the wheel off?
Small impact gun
I meant no thru axel lever
@@Bad_Science_Channel ah, thanks for the clarification
Rich Fi no worries! Was my bad!
Wouldnât it be cool if the Garmin could be inter grated into top of the stem
48 or XXS? Scott bikes dont go by numbers. They're about my height and a XS might be a bit too big with a 120mm stem.
Does anyone know or can confirm?
The music sounds much better.
Is there any reason opting for climbing wheels when being at 6.8 with deep section ones? Do they handle differently? Ok, well.. Adam could save on another 500 grams but I heard mechanics like to keep it a little over 6.8 in case the UCI scales are calibrated differently
And why on earth are there EF riders still riding rim brakes when being at 6.8 with discs? Why sacrifice the benefits of disc brakes when you aren't allowed to go any lighter? I love rim brakes but I just don't get it..
TheFightFooter
More neutral handling, less rotational weight.
Difference between the c60's & c40's circa 180grams the pair.
Not 500grams
@@TheFightFooter if you've used it for most of your career, you probbably dont want to change before a massive race let alone the biggest one of the year, they will most probbably all slowly switch or stick to what they have used and are used to
good question. It's mainly down to handling for most of the riders. Also with the transponder this bike will probably be 6.9kg, so putting the shallower wheels on will probably get it bang on 6.8 for the mountains!
I remember the time when having multiple syncross parts on your scott bike was considered really cheap and crappy
Wow... the tire labels aren't even centred over the valve stems...
Adam yeet
New ask the pros question for GCN.... Who in the peloton has the loudest feehub?
Has Adam Yates actually raced this bike yet? Every time I've seen him he's been riding a caliper braked race bike.

So have the UCI scrapped the tip of the saddle being 5cm behind the BB rule then? Or does that only apply to TT bikes?
I think that measurement changes depending on the size of the bike, because a lower seatpost will always naturally be further forward compared to the bottom bracket
@@TroggyPK true, but you can this bike has 0 lay back and the saddle slammed forward, like no attempt made at all haha
@@danielellis2874 true, im guessing here but that rule is probs exempt for xs and xxs bikes otherwise the saddle would have to be so short or so far back that the reach would be the same as a medium or even a large which would be horrific in terms of fitting and injury prevention
that's just a TT bike rule I believe
With all these new aero climbing bikes featuring disc brakes hitting the UCI weight limit easily, It's easy to deduce that disc brakes will be the norm from now on. The purists will be in denial for the next twenty years...
Hugues Québécois Did you mean disc brakes would be the norm? You said rim brakes.
@@Methodical2 Thanks, missed that one.
This is not a Stock Scott Addict RC? It looks like a custom Foil. idk
Plot twist: this was Simon's bike.

The seatpost looks like it has a small setback. Wassup?
any idea what crank arm length he's using?

Introducing the new scott addict, tarmac, supersix, roadmachine, tcr, izalco max, cento zero. Im calling it roght fucking now treks emonda next year will have dic brakes, integrated handlebars, dropped seat stays and a d shaped seat post.
I used to hate pinarellos because they looked boring but now they are the only different looking bike being made now.....
without the water bottles it will be a lot lighter
His seatpost clearly has layback
I noted that too, they talk and don't look at the parts.
Those of you wowing the weight of this bike.. Don't forget.. this is a child's bike
All the new bikes look exactly the same. Kinda no difference whatsoever...
function over fashion
As opposed to bikes of 40 years ago that all actually looked the same? The handlebars on this bike definitely do not look like anything else. The weird one piece bend, and they have out of style traditional drops, not a variable radius.
@@jonathanzappala yes and when the bike is different, like the Pinarello F12, everybody is saying the bike lines aren't traditional enough...
I don't get the obsession with a freehub sound. Seems a bit childish to me
Me neither. Itâs a freehub, it makes a noise, they all sound different, yayyyy!
Is there a standard for what is a great sounding freehub and they are all being compared to that?
Lots of people like it, so we do it. Just a bit of fun we guesss. If there is something you would like to see let us know đđŒ
Stop with that annoying music sound in background...
I'm pretty sure that was editor's best effort to try to mask the wind/background noise. :D
It seems like every bike brand is going to that type of frame for 2020. First Cannondale now Scott. Donât like it.
My aluminium giant from the late 2000s has dropped seat stays and a sloping top tube, it's nothing new.
Hugo Young What Giant is it ? I rode a Giant Defy 3 that was an Alloy. What I loved about it was itâs classic geometry. It seems like bike brands are giving up on it which is sad.
