Increasing difficulty of a boss by not only making them hit harder and a bit more often but also using new moves is something I always like to see.

yeah, it's so weird how he wasn't included in the main roster because he was an inside joke with the NASB community, it's especially annoying since nick 100% replaced him with grandpa gertie to try to get more "funny factor".
One of my few complaints was Hugh’s removal so hope we can get him back!

I think the official term for the genre that Smash Bros. is called a platform fighter. So you don't need to call them smash likes or clones.
I agree, but I want to point out that action platformers with an emphasis on exploration are still called 'metroidvania's, despite a much broader amount of games within the genre. Because of being the sole inspiration for most of these games, I think you can forgive the name.
@@guitarbrother1234people call them plat fighters because of the "smash clone" name reducing them to just another game trying to be smash when most times that isn't true, I think some people are fine with "smash like" but would rather use "plat fighters" to stand out

"Platform Fighter" is pretty much the only name I've heard for this genre of fighting game. Seems a little strange to me some people still don't know the name, but then again, not many exist outside of Smash.
But they all derive from Smash Bros and I think it deserves to be referred to as the almighty king of this genre
I've played this game today for like 8 hours and I really like it. The first Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl may be an medium dissappointment at best, but this shows how great a sequel can be if you give some passionate devs the MONEY they need to make GOOD WORK!

Deadass told myself I would get the game if El Tigre made in the roster. And they nailed El Tigre's design and animation in this game perfectly.
A platform fighter that has a meter you can burn out in sections? Wow that is actually something I’ve never seen before. What’s even cooler is that this is the only game that PlayStation has with fighters from different franchises on it that has All-Stars in the name!

An excellent video as always, Alax. This sort of tilts toward me actually wanting to buy this now. The gameplay does look addicting, even moreso than the first one, but MAAAAAN, how I wish they didn't cut so many characters. Like, I mained Reptar in the 1st one, so I'm good, but if only we could have all four Turtles, Sandy, Helga, Powdered Toast Man, Catdog, freaking HUGH. You think there's a good chance they could bring them all back in a free update or something? 😭 MAYBE a small fee even. I just want them all back again.
There are two simple reasons why some characters had to be cut to make room for new stuff. These two reasons are budget and time.
The devs may had more budget than they had for NASB1, but it was still rather small. And they also had only 2 years of development time, which is not that much for th amount of content they've actually thrown in.
There is still a chance some of the missing brawlers from the first game can appear, probably after the first wave of DLC characters. But they still need the budget and time to do this. So the more people support this game the higher these chance is. (But we still need some patience for this as they will not appear before 2025)
Yeah, Toph and Catdog were like the two characters I actually cared about in the first game, so the fact that they both got cut means I'll probably pass on this one unless they get added back as DLC or something.
@unskilledgamer3642 personally im happy that they had the vision (and budget) to make all these characters feel well-realized. i wonder if the cut characters didnt feel as aligned with this game's change in design. as long as we get characters with creative movesets, im not going to mind cuts much

If there is one thing I have learned is that there will aways be room for platform fighters because that means more people can get in on this type of fighting game and enjoy themselves.
*that's actually sounds awesome* I remember watching a video talking about the move set of the first game and being very bewildered this sounds a little easier to grasp. it's nice when the animations of moves actually follow the commands you use. the strong attack should feel strong the up attack should if nothing else hit above your character
I feel like more people should take a look at Rushdown Revolt. It lacks monetary support but it's like the Guilty Gear of platform fighters.
Only mentioning it because it's got fighting game mechanics like this one does, but NASB2 actually has budget. NASB2 looks aight.
I'll check that out. But it's funny that you mention Guilty Gear becuase this game has a fucking Roman Cancel in it.

I was gonna say the same thing, I feel like there was a Dr.Strange mindwipe that made every smash player forget it existed. I think the biggest difference with the meters is Rushdown focuses more on movement and NASB2 on attacks.

They need to put Tak from the original Tak and the Power of Juju video game trilogy in this game! Jason Marsden acting was amazing in those games super nice guy! Tak 2 the Staff of Dreams is one of the best 3D platformers ever made, plus Tak’s character would be perfect for a fighting game! Make it happen people

It says here that Take games were inspired by Jak and Daxter. Jak and Daxter was inspired by Banjo Kazooie. So Banjo in Smash is the closest we'll get to Tak in a fighter.

the best part of smash bros is it following kirby's design philosophy a lot of simple actions can be used in tandem to make the game complex and ever changing. the brilliance in simplicity which smash bros like chess no individual move or piece can do everything but together they can win games.

There is no Bikini Bottom stage. This game has 4 SpongeBob stages: Jellyfish Fields, Flying Dutchman Ship, Bun Wrestling Ring and Chumbucket. Jellyfish Fields being the only one of them suited for competetive.
