Torque converter not releasing happens with my 23 aisin too I find on occasion. Really gotta hold the brake to keep it stopped. Could pull it into neutral. But I find that doing that is really clunky vs my old dmax with Allison

I had a 2019 RAM 3500 dually mega cab with Aisin... was slamming gears like crazy only pulling 6k lbs (Airstream TT) when rated at 18k lbs pulling... after 3 pulls, stays away from the tow/haul mode. Got rid of it after 20k miles for financial reasons. I can attest to what you are sharing... for me, tow/haul mode was a joke. I only used exhaust breaking when going through the mountains but killed my fuel economy and worked the truck way too hard. I'm running a 2002 RAM 2500 5.9 Cummins (pulling 10x's per year)... couldn't be happier... no more DEF and crazy gear slamming. Truck pulls hard and performs well. I also owned a 2017 and '18 with the 68RFE... the 5.9 with 47RFE is a wonderful platform. These newer trucks just aren't reliable or tuned for what they are designed to do... I wouldn't mind owning the '19 again but I wish these manufacturers would tune their components better than what they do... fuel economy... good grief... way better not running all factory setup, no tunes and DEF system. DEF systems are disgusting...tank your fuel economy and aren't reliable... no one wants to be half way across the country with these trucks going into limp mode...I ran into the 2x's... what a joke... mostly just needed to reset the computer.

I always use Tow/Haul when towing either trailer and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced the issues you’ve described. I have had the dead pedal a couple times, and a couple of times when the tranny seemed to slip, but my biggest concern really is the stupid CP4 fuel pump time Bomb! Love the truck though ! I am on the third Aisin reflash. Still have the 2-1 slam shift at slow speeds. I wish they had two setings for Tow/Haul. There are times you need the aggressive downshifting to get the most out of the exhaust brake, but many more times that a much less aggressive mode would be much better. Keep after 'em, Paul!

Your explanation seems very valid. My 19 does not react the same way as my 18. My 19 was manufactured Oct 2019.
The shift timing also seems incorrect. I supposedly have more torque in the 19, but it seems like it lags. Just for comparison My 18 was a Dually with Aisin 4.10 and my 19 is SRW HO Cummins with 3.73 Aisin. I like the way my 18 drove better. Besides the upgrade from Tradesman to a Laramie I am not impressed withe the 19

Build date 07-2019 I have experienced the lurching from 2-1 as well as the wild down shifts in tow haul mode. It seems if you tap the brakes lightly once it’ll drop one gear and if you press and hold it will down shift as far as it can. I’ve been to the dealer a few times to try and get the TCM update you mentioned in a previous video but they say no updates are available. If you find a TSB or something please post it. I was a little worried about the down shifting while driving down from Alaska but the rear tires never lost traction or if I thought there was a high chance of that I would put it in 4x4. I'm going to say this has more to do with it being a first year model more then the transmission. Ram used the aisin in the 4th gens also and it's proved to be reliable. I'm assuming it has something to do with the torque converter in the HO rams with 1000 ib. Ft. of torque. I personally never buy the first year model of a new gen. Wait a couple years so they can get all the kinks worked out.

Silent but Deadly wrong. According to Ford they’re faulty from the manufacturer and the new ones coming in as replacements are the same faulty ones as put on at the factory. Ford advises they have no real fix (new part that actually works) at this time. The new replacement parts are bandaids. Thousands upon thousands of complaints and lawsuits for this. Never again.

4literfanDaniel it’s more common on 2017-present ford super duty trucks. It has a history of older ram trucks but ram fixed the problem years ago. GM does not have this problem since the front end is independent. You are correct. But Ford wins this one hands down compared to the rest with this issue.

When the driver's say they don't like the way the trucks do or don't down shift and perform.... I think they make everything more aggressive. Which isn't always the best for the consumers who don't use their rigs daily fully loaded.

Mean 4g63 yeah i agree, I own a 19 3500 with the 6.4 and a 4.10. This is my 3rd one with the hemi. I love this truck. And with the new 8speed it tows 10X better. But it’s no Cummins. I tow around 15k max with my dump trailer. And the 6.4 “especially with the new 8speed and the 4.10” handles it surprisingly well. Even gets about 8-9 mpg with that much weight. But towing 20k+??? Get a Cummins, the hemi is great for mid range heavy towing “10k - 16k” It’s what it’s for. But if you tow 18k+ get the diesel
