    On my 2018 2500 I recently threw the p0871 code while towing my toy hauler. Truck sat over night and I cleared the code with ez link and it towed my trailer fine home haven’t seen the code again but I have noticed a chirp when it shifts. I pulled the cvi data; 2c -48, 4c-53, L/R-64, ud-44, and od-22. Would a valve body fix my 68rfe or do I need to look at doing more?

    I have a bone stock 2014 3500 SRW, been chasing a whine only when in 6th gear. Kinda goes away or changes tune if you slightly put some pressure on the gear selector. No codes just changed fluid and it looked beautiful.

      Yup 4wd and has 125k miles on it. Can’t speak to how the maintenance has been throughout its whole lifespan but I changed the fluid in the T case 10k miles ago when I bought it and the oil that came out looked great. Don’t think it’s a transfer case noise based on it only whining in 6 gear. If you manually shift it down to 5th the noise goes right away.

    Would replacing the 68rfe body valve stop my truck from going into limp mode? P0735 is the code that i keeps getting?

    My truck seems to draw its shifting out possibly a light slip it doesn’t really jump into gear but it more falls into gear

    2013 2500 with 68rfe, ever since it was tuned it had shudder with lock up at low speeds, low line pressure codes as well. Been rebuilt twice with upgrades and still the same.. tow haul helps

    2014 ram 2500… throwing P0740 at interstate speeds and pulling load. Thinking torque converter is going out. Any thoughts?

    I replace my shifting solenoid and the other unit from you guys that was recommended and now the truck is throwing a high-pressure code...i called awhile ago and the tech says there is a screw I need to back off 2 turns if I remember but I can't remember where it is on the unit! other then that the truck runs fine!

      I don’t know specifically about that with the 68’s, but there is not a screw that can be backed out two turns there. If you are getting a overpressure code, it will need to be addressed. Give us a call 859 737 4966.

    Okay what is your experience on a P0735 error code on a 68RFE transmission and what part you relate to that code?

      That’s 5th gear ratio code and we discussed it in the video. You will need to get some actual values to make a accurate diagnosis.

    2014 ram 2500 6.7 4x4
    Few days ago while driving I noticed my transmission did not want to shift automatically from 4th to 5th. I was able to manually get to 5th and 6th. The engine would sit at about 2k rpm trying to shift into 5th automatically, but no luck. The Trans temp was only about 140-150 during the drive. The truck had the CEL code p0740 pop up. I decided today to drop the pan to see if there was anything that happened that I did not hear. The atf4 was still very red and just small hints of particulates on the magnet but nothing else. Filled it back up. Let it idle in neutral with the parking brake on for a bit, then ran it in reverse and drive.
    I took it for a drive, the first shift from 4th to 5th was the smoothest I've felt since getting the truck at 148k, now 177k miles. But I slowed down to try again. And it didn't want to shift to 5th automatically. I was then able to manually shift into 5th and 6th.

    My 2016 3500 srw. Is stock i’m not having any issues with the transmission is replacing the valve body something that will help prolong the life of the transmission.

    I get a crazy rattling sound on a downshift when I am towing a fifth wheel. It only happens when under load such as going up hill and it shifts from say 4th to 3rd gear. One the converter locks up the noise goes away but until it does I get the loud metallic rattle. No codes or any other perceptible problems I can detect. 2017 2500 68RFE ???

      Sometimes a fueling knock can sound like a metallic rattle. It could be a flexplate issue as well. I don’t suggest towing on it until you can find a accurate diagnosis.

    No codes/CEL’s ever thrown, but I have a hard 1-2 shift under light throttle (25% throttle and over), and hard shifting throughout under heavy throttle (over 50% throttle). Had the issue since 2017 since the truck went on a diet and was tuned, and is still present even since replacing the valve body with a RevMax unit back in March. Valve body pressure was adjusted with tuner to 225 psi after installing. Any ideas?

      When I did the “diet” on my truck back in 2017 I didn’t know about the whole transmission relearn process and just romped on it after completing the work. And the tuner I’ve been running is a Mini Maxx and I think we all know about how there’s no support for them. With that added info, what are your thoughts?

    Who has bought one of these sun coast transmissions? I’m considering it but I’ve heard so many bad stories of some others like monster transmissions so I’d like to see some reviews on these folks for my RE 68 for my 2015 ram.

    I tried to view the CVI PIDS on my 2011 Ram 2500, but they weren't available on my EZ Lynk. Are these PIDS for 2013+?

    My 2012 ram 3500 DRW 3.73s and an ATS valve body I noticed that shift is weird with the 4th gear. Feels like it falls on its face then locks up firm and it’s been like that since I’ve had it. Thought it was weird but after hearing this it seems that is somewhat normal 🤷 68s are to each their own

      Yes it is a normal to a degree. We talk about this strategy in the video and its actually for the trans protection (according to the original engineers).

    Any idea what would cause very rough downshift when coming to red light with exhaust brake enabled?

      Is the trans tuned or is this a stock trans? If it’s a tuned trans file, we would look at the tuning to see if a adjustment could be made to the strategy. If it’s a stock trans and stock file, it would need to be monitored on a scanner to see what the values were when it happens.

    I have a 2008 3500 cummins and my transmission will kick in and out of gear and when you hit reverse it will surge and pull with your foot on the brake and sometimes it wont shift thorough the gears until u kill it . Also in 5th and 6th it will chirp and if you accelerate it will kick out of gear

    I have a 2001 3500 4x4 diesel. Question how do I know what transmission is in my truck? It has a "built" transmission. Overdrive usually "bumps" shifts always drives good just abrupt not smooth shifting into overdrive. What could that be and is it something to worry about? Thanks

      @@thoroughbreddiesel it was built by a company called summit racing. I have found out it's the 47RE. Really just wanted to know if the overdrive "bump" was normal

    How often should the transmission fluid be changed?

      Every 60K for severe duty. I would change it at that even if you don’t tow heavy. Cheap insurance.

    I had a 68rfe break the case and input shaft. I had a shop rebuild a different core. The shop that rebuilt my transmission pulled the pan yesterday and said they couldn't find anything wrong. The only time it acts up is when I go to pull a camper. I scanned it while it was running and I'm getting random codes. Could the problem be with the wiring harness for the transmission

      I don’t know what codes you have or what your driveability issue is, you skipped over that. But, I can say this, if you think you have a electrical gremlin, especially in these 68 trucks, START WITH BATTERIES.

    I Have a 2012 ram 3500 with 283,000 Mi. and it wont shift out of 1st gear, it through a code that said transmission pressure sensor, Is that the sensor on the outside of the trans on the passenger side?

      It is located in the valve body, you will have to drop the pan.

      Could be a broken or dislodged return spring, or a hydro leak in the VB. Will need to be diagnosed by a professional.

    2 main questions:
    1: Does this apply to the gas 6.4 hemi?
    2: If it does, I get plenty of throttle but no shift beyond first, any ideas?
    I'm trying to avoid buying a full new transmission.

      It will apply to anything with 68 and 66 RFE’s. Could be a valve body but the problem with a potential VB failure is that it likely hurt trans components (IE clutches, drums, etc).

      The code tells us that there is a problem with the shift solenoid, you would need to diagnose it further using this code as your starting point.

    Im getting the p0868 code. I will get the incorrect ratio code in whichever gear i give it more throttle in .

      That’s a low line pressure code, make sure you check fluid level and needs to be diagnosed watching real-time data on a scanner.

      It can be a number of things, we really need more data. Code is for a L/R Solenoid malfunction.

    I have a 2023 Ram 2500 4X4 6.7L and after 3 months and under 7000 miles, the check engine light came on. The code it threw was P0733, 3rd gear incorrect gear ratio. Brought it back to the dealer that I bought it from and after 3 weeks, they came up with transmission replacement, due to customer abuse. The service advisor said it was due to driving it in the mud, for my job, and it burned up the internals. Does that sound right?

      Same thing happened to me. 2023 ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. The dealership told me that when they scanned it they found the transmission was burnt up at 7800 miles due to a abusing it. Would not warranty my transmission.

      @@rickcaldwell3725 I bought a built 68rfe from Randy's transmission for $11,648.19 a Cummins shop installed it and had to add a tuner which that company tells you which one to get for $2500.00. it's a stage 2 extreme and can handle up to 750 hp. Mine is stock and will stay stock. It voided the warranty completely going that route. It runs and shifts like it's supposed to.

      @@rickcaldwell3725 Randy's transmission online, shop here in Louisville KY recommended them. They said they have done well over 130 ram 2500-3500. It voids the warranty tho. That warranty is just words on a piece of paper. Everything including tuning was a about 16k. Stage 2 build can handle 750 hp. Mine is stock and will stay that way. Car salesman lie, shop managers lie they know those tranny's are junk.

    I have a bone stock 2014 ram 2500 had a code for incorrect gear ratio and hydraulic pressure sensor performance cleared codes even permanent codes cleared themselves changed oil and filters went on a drive for a week no codes were thrown then went to pull a aluminum trailer with 2 atvs 40 miles in truck made a weird electronic noise ZZZiiiippp and went all Neutral i was able to guide into parking lot and left shut off for an hour went to startup again didnt go forward or reverse had it towed to nearby shop next day they called me saying it goes forward and reverse what should I have them actually look at since they say its ok?never slipped before either prior to this

      The CFI’s should tell the story. These failures can happen to bone stock trucks too.
