My daughter is 6. She was being bullied by this girl who constantly tells her she's ugly. I told her to say "ok." And walk away. It worked lol. Then she started up again and I told her "next time she says you're ugly, start sniffing the air, make a cringe face, sniff towards her and say "omg, is that your breath?", cover your nose, cringe your face and walk away." It's been a year and the girl doesn't even speak to her anymore 😂

Yep, most of my bullies got bored with me because I agreed with them. Which was really easy when 98% of what they said was true, just said rudely. Like oh, you're mocking me for the stupid mistake I made in class? Well, it was stupid so why would I disagree? School bullies were a joke, I'd been trained by bullies with much more experience. Unfortunately that would be my parents.

In America, "zero tolerance policies" have nothing to do with protecting victims, and everything to do with protecting the school from liability. By suspending all students involved, even those involved unwillingly, the school decides that the fight is not their problem. The bullying is not their problem. Etc.

When I was pregnant with my first child, my husband and I were in line at the market. I was REALLY pregnant, like unmistakably pregnant. There was a woman ahead of us who noticed me and squealed, “When are you due?” While reaching for my stomach. I looked her in the eye and said, “I’m not pregnant. It’s a tumor.” The woman was HORRIFIED. All of her groceries were already on the belt so she was stuck there. Once she was gone, my husband burst into laughter and asked me why. I said I was tired of being fondled by strangers. I’m POSITIVE she never did that again.

People seem to forget personal boundaries when it comes to pregnancy (and sometimes hair--can't tell you how many strangers wanted to grab/touch/stroke my hair when I was younger). It’s always so weird when someone tries to touch the belly of a pregnant stranger. I can understand starting a conversation abt when someone is due. Even with that you never know if someone is pregnant or not so that question also could be bad. Someone might have a tumor or they could just look pregnant without actually being pregnant. Touching a pregnant belly without asking is so weird bc most the time they don’t want a random stranger touching their pregnant belly. If someone does want to touch the pregnant belly they should ask and respect whatever the answer is even if the answer is no

I like having curves. So telling me it's great that I'm losing some pounds just pisses me off. I happen to also be Caucasian and I can't tell you the number of times my Caucasian family tell me to "get some sun". I like being white thank you very much. In fact, I'd prefer it if I were more pale. And, I'd tell them that, and they'd scoff or brush me off. Or tell me that I need clothing other than all black and dark colors. I happen to be a punk rock/goth/emo tribrid. I'm happy being different, and I wish my family would stop with trying to "convert" me. It also doesn't help that my family votes for Trump, other than my one awesome cousin. And I'm trans non-binary. I deal with a lot of bs. It's ridiculous.

And here's my "traumatize them back" story - I was out with friends, most of whom are gay (I'm a straight cis woman). My 2 female friends (who are a couple) & I stepped outside to wait on the guys, who went to the men's room before we were to leave. A large group of frat bros walked by & preceded to catcall us, getting more disgusting in their comments & surrounding us to keep us from leaving. About this time, our male friends came out & seeing what the frat bros were doing, told them to leave us alone. They were like, "Sorry, didn't know they were yours". My male friends said "We're gay & they are not "ours", you just shouldn't speak to them that way." Frat bros yelled a few gay slurs as they ambled away. Then my friend Thomas, entered the scene. Thomas is 6'5, had played football & rugby at university & is so ripped, I'm pretty sure even his muscles have muscles. He is also very proudly gay & was wearing an "Out & Proud" t-shirt. He had overheard the entire thing & proceeded to follow the guys down the street, saying all the disgusting things to them that they had said to us. They kept walking faster & faster, with Thomas jogging behind them, catcalling & all of us following him, enjoying the show. By the time they were at the end of the block, frat bros were sprinting like they were running the 100-yard dash for Olympic gold. Thomas finally let them run away, yelling after them, "Remember this the next time you feel like harassing random women". Not all heroes wear capes, some of them wear "Out & Proud" t-shirts.

    • @falleithani5411
      @falleithani5411 Před 2 měsíci +106

This is 100% accurate, but it's worth noting that the reason these rules get implemented in the first place is that all the other rulesets have serious flaws as well:
'No punishments for anyone' is pretty obviously flawed.
'Those who started it are punished' very quickly results in all fights having as few witnesses as possible, so each side can claim the other started it. This effectively just turns into 'the less popular kids in a fight get punished', which is a very nasty standard to set.
'The least hurt kids in a fight get punished' is probably one of the better options, as it at least creates a strong deterrence against more-excessive levels of carnage, but it also makes kids very, _very_ good at the art at inflicting maximum pain with minimum evidence. And once that happens, all fights thereafter basically get treated as 'the kids who are least good at screaming and turning on the waterworks get punished', which is obviously not ideal.
      The real issues are that:
      A. Trying to address conflicts _after_ they escalate to violence is always the wrong approach. It's important to take notice and take action _before_ that.
      B. Proper supervision is very very important. Large class sizes and low school budgets mean there's just not enough resources for teachers to actually protect the children under their care from each other.
      C. It's high time we actually recognized that schools should teach life skills of all sorts, not just 'job skills'. Most adults today have thousands of hours of training and practice at math and linguistics and such, but their skills and knowledge for deescalation, conflict resolution, and how to build healthy and lasting relationships from scratch, are all barely above toddler-level. In some cases, what they've 'learned' about relationships and conflict resolution is so wrong and bad that it's _actively worse_ than knowing nothing at all.

I talk about it openly because I feel there needs to be someone who talks about this. My bully was a year older than me (same grade, though) and was the athletic type, 2 meters, muscles, all that. He always had other assholes with him, of course. One day, i had had ENOUGH and i put my fists up. He was cocky and said i could have one swing before he kicked my ass. I was too mad to stop, so i took a wild swing as high as i could reach, aiming for his jaw... And I missed... Barely...
And hit him right in the throat with all the tiny nerd rage my Chihuahua-esque body could summon. He instantly dropped to his knees, vomited, and wheezed for air. His whole posse backed up and wanted no part of the vicious little maniac that just dropped the biggest jock in school with one swing. The next day he apologized awkwardly for bullying me because apparently his mom told him that he got what he deserved. 😂 We actually ended up becoming really good friends because he was curious how i got so good at fighting (his dad was abusive, go figure) and I helped him study and get better grades. While I was drinking, I heard someone say to me "Nice ass, baby." I was so confused, I stood up, turned around and just looked at the dude. I couldn't think of what to say. Picture it. Elementary school in Montana. 1998. Me, AMAB 11 year old student, gets jumped by 3 older, larger boys. When I say I was jumped, it was multiple times, and a jungle gym was involved. Anyway, I got in trouble, because the school principal had a zero tolerance policy very similar to what was described in this video. She said I must have INSTIGATED the beating, and she apparently couldn't see from her office 15 feet away with the blinds and window wide open with essentially a ringside seat for this.
My mom gets called. I'm an absolute mess, and my principal is telling my mother that she wants to punish ME by making me be BEST FRIENDS with the boys that nearly unalived me and walk to school with them EVERY DAY for a YEAR.
My mother had had enough. She stood up to her full height, all 5 feet 0 inches of her, and without yelling or swearing, yet clearly enunciating every word, asks her how she would feel if she was r**ed, and at the trial, the judge ordered her to be BEST FRIENDS with the person who r**ed her, and walk to work with them every day. Then My mom said "Can you guarantee my child's safety in this school? Can you guarantee that they won't be harmed again or potentially unalived?" The principal waffled a bit, but finally said no. My mom said "Fine. I can." and she pulled me out of school.

On multiple occasions, people said things to me like “oh my goodness you’re friends with _____, right? I heard he’s gay, is that true?”. The kid then turned to me and said, if you and whatever wh*re you end up with want kids, i’d be happy to help. I told him that “oh, if I ever have kids i’ll just take them from homophobic a$$h*les like you, that way they’ll know what having parents who love them and each other is like.” My mom doesn’t like swearing, so o told her in a more pg way, but she got so mad on my behalf it made me so happy

Yeah, it's honestly baffling to me, even as someone who's not disabled. It's why my only interactions are to either smile and nod at them, or simply make a small comment like "hope you're doing good". Of course... this is also how I generally react to just about anyone that I'd have a reason to interact with in such a way. Just small, positive comments. Because from personal experience, such things can really make a difference in someone's life and mental health if they actually are doing bad. (there was a time where I was feeling pretty depressed, and while out with family at a symphony, some random young girl (probably 14ish?) just randomly complemented my shirt and it seriously made my week. (I was with my grandmother at the time, and was around like 26, with a full beard, so it was really easy to take it as simply a random positive comment and nothing else.))

I'm also disabled (with EDS as a matter of fact, and its bestie POTS) and I've been using mobility aids since my early 20's (currently in my late 30's). A couple years ago, I FINALLY managed to a disability placard for my car, and thanks to years of mobility aid use, I just ignore nasty looks.
So the other week I had physical therapy after work and I was already in a lot of pain, so I parked in disabled parking at the hospital where I work. As I was leaving, this old Karen came up to me, and started yelling at me about how it was illegal to use the placard when I didn't have the person it was assigned to with me (this is an EXTRA level of insane assumption given that I was parked in front of an ER/A&E entrance). I waited for her to get done yelling, and then said, "Well ma'am, I've been trying to escape myself for years, so if you have any ideas, I'm dying to hear it!" While she was trying to parse that out, I just got into my car and left, lol.

I once went shopping for a gorgeous prom-like dress with a friend because why not. It was a very "chic" type store with very petty staff looking at you as if they were judging if you actually had the money to buy anything. When i tried one of the one-sized dresses, she looked at me and said with a very condescending tone: "uh.. you WOULD need some adjustments on the chest for THAT dress, but we have flat dresses that'd be more fitting". Considering the fact that this was the first time i went shopping for dresses as i guy i felt very self conscious. And out of nowhere, with a very cheery voice just said "Oh no it's fine don't worry, I just got surgery because I had breast cancer :)" and she stopped talking and grabbed the same dress in a different colour for me to try, but same shape. Nice

He was standing over me with this crazy look in his eye. I'm crying and when my mum notices, we leave the store immediately. Turns out he followed us somewhere else, still raving.

It's odd that so many people think that they are intitled to being able to decide if they think someone is "disabled enough". It harms people inside of the community too, even without someone asking them directly, because it causes many people to stop themselves from using resources they need because they think they aren't struggling enough to use the resources and that tohers might have it worse. The idea that marginalized groups owe people explanations for their existence is so mind boggeling to me. We get enough invalidation for several life times from doctors alone, I just wish people would recognize that we don't owe kindest to those who don't give it to us

Just an FYI for people who think trauma needs to be violent: molestation and other forms of assault are still traumatic and cause mistrust and PTSD as a result. Violence makes it more difficult to ignore, and usually causes more aggressive coping mechanisms, but it is still traumatic. Trauma is trauma, no matter the cause.

    • @AtomicArtumas
      @AtomicArtumas Před 2 měsíci +20

Even more-so: Mental trauma is 100% a thing. I say this as someone who definitely 100% suffers from minor PTSD due to entirely mental reasons. It doesn't even have to be physical, or even intentional. Mine comes from my family basically just... never thinking about how I feel about anything. Been lied to my entire life about multiple things because it would be too hard on THEM to tell ME. Only reason I know about these things is from having learned to spy on them if I want to know literally anything.
Basically, my parents treat me like how most people treat their neighbors. Yet I'm forced to go along with everything. I'm told plans sometimes the day before, despite being something planned for over 6 months, that forces me to be out of the house for multiple days. And the rest of my family just accepts this and doesn't inform me of anything, despite also being informed months in advance.
And the part that makes this all ridiculously traumatic is the fact it doesn't remotely stop there. It includes things like... who my biological father is. Imagine just one day learning that your biological father is in jail for the cause of your birth, and realizing that you've never once been told the man you thought was your father isn't actually related to you in any way. Yeah. That's what happened when I was 14. I'm now 30ish. They still haven't told me.

    • @discordiacreates6669
      @discordiacreates6669 Před 2 měsíci +16

Yes, and trauma can be just about anything as well, especially if we're talking about early childhood stuff. I was legit terrified of sinks for months as a small child thanks to watching a whole two minute scene from the old It movie unsupervised. That's why I don't make fun of anyone for any kind of phobia, even if I think some of them are a bit silly or pointless, because I mean, I also slipped and almost got sucked away in a storm ditch not that far apart in time from that instance and I still haven't learned how to swim because I'm scared of water 2ft deep. People really shouldn't judge others on what is or isn't justified as trauma by their standards as well because different people also have different tolerance levels and while some can go through a bad situation minimally affected, that exact same scenario can have such a profound effect on the mental state of a different person that it permanently changes them. This I... Knew but never quite fully understood so I'd accepted it as something others went through but it honestly only very recently hit me that, oh wait, the stuff I personally experienced is why I don't have friends and am very asocial and have trust issues, oh wow, amazing, where's my refund ticket? Looks can often be deceiving, especially if you're hurt and trying to hide it to appear strong when you really aren't and should just accept that it's better to be ok with not always being ok, but ik, easier said then done when I for sure can say but can't act on that atm

The kid telling a bully he can snap him like a twig kindof reminded me of something. So back in the day, I found out a guy was bullying my twin brother for a while (i was kindof more introverted and didnt talk with people too much back in school). Now important to note, at the time, my brother (we arent identical btw) was a bit small for our age (12/13 ish I think?). Now about me, I stopped growing at 13 till about uni. Meaning not that I was small, but that at 13 I was like 185cm tall and weighed around 110kg (used to play rugby and was pretty good at some athletics stuff like shotput). So one day, I see this guy walk to my brother, spit in his hair and rub it in. And just… no one does anything, he and his friends are laughing and my brother and his friends just avoid them and leave. I walk behind the bullying kid as they leave, tap him on the shoulder and spat a mouthful of spit directly in his face and then stood there. Not one single person around him did anything and no one even said anything. He stammered around as I am just staring directly into his eyes, he cant keep my gaze and eventually I just leave. I do actually think that stopped him from ever doing that crap again, which at least was nice. A lot of those people really are cowards though.

When I was 11 I had a wart removed from the sole of my foot, in the middle of the heel, and because of that, I had a note from the doctor to sit out of my PE classes for a couple of days while the wound healed. I only used that "excuse" for the activities I really couldn't do (basically anything involving putting my heel on the ground) but I still used my scooter to get to school every morning because I only needed to use the front of my foot to propel it, so it didn't hurt.
Well, one day we were supposed to do a running activity in PE and the teacher allowed me to skip it, but a group of my classmates started complaining that I was faking it to get out of the activity, that I couldn't have any problem because obviously, I was fine enough to use my scooter every day.
With a wicked smile I just went "oh yeah, I have a hole in my foot, do you wanna see it?" and started taking off my shoe and my sock and peeled off the bandaid that was covering the wound.
The look of absolute horror on their faces when they saw the 2cm wide hole in my heel was so satisfying. They all instantly looked away and begged me to cover it. They never said a word after that.

I had a coworker try to convince me that trans women shouldn't be in the women's bathroom and was asking me if I would really be okay with my imaginary future daughter seeing a woman in there standing while using the toilet and I looked at him and told him "First of all, I don't want kids and even if I had one, I would hope that my child wouldn't be creepy or weird enough to look into someone's bathroom stall as they are using it. Second of all, my best friend is a trans man and I have never thought of him as anything but a man and I know for a fact that he nor any other trans person would ever use the restroom with the stall door open like a weirdo, so I would really appreciate it if you kept your very bad opinions to yourself, sir." Needless to say, he no longer talked to me about being against trans people again.

My mom is like that and it makes me soooo uncomfortable!! Trans people have been using the bathrooms for decades and people haven't noticed. But now people are more aware of these things and people like my mom think they can always tell. Wouldn't it be safer if a transwoman goes into the women's room if she looks like an actual woman? People who are against this says that if someone hasn't had the sex change surgery, they should go into the bathroom that matches their private parts. Who are going to crotch checks on people to see if they are in the right bathroom?
My mom even said that some men will claim they are a transgender just to go into the women's bathroom just to assaults women and girls. Also she says that it's almost never reported because "those people" don't want the public to know because it messes up their "statistics". That's only the tip of the iceberg, but then she says she has no problem with transgender people because she has a friend who is...

Plus people can use the "You leave the stall door open when using the toilet?" and "You watch people using the toilet?" with a creeped out tone of voice to get people to back off.
(If that last one doesn't work and they double down or they actually do invade your privacy in the toilets, just tell them "You know there are easier ways to satisfy your kink than watching people in public toilets?")

@@GretchZ To be fair, the actual argumentation behind that one is not about the sign* stopping someone, but more about it increasing the odds of someone else noticing that somethings up. If you see some man watching the bathroom, entering it or inside of it and hes clearly not with a child, (or partner in the watching case) and its ruled he doesnt belong in there, its more likely that someone is suspicious about whats going on there. Not that thered be any numbers to prove or disprove anything about that in a relevant manner that im aware of. Especially considering the mentioned issue that most of the time theres nobody watching the entry and even then that person wouldnt be able to just magically tell whats in them pants.
Anyways, never had an issue with a cleaning lady in the mans bathroom, wouldnt care if a mom went inside with her boy and in enough public spaces its common for women to also go into the mens stalls if theirs overcrowded, so couldnt care less about who goes into mens stalls unless they clog it big time, albeit i would prefer parents to go with their children, no matter if its the bathroom matching the parent or the kid, so maybe thats not common elsewhere but i just dont see that much of an issue with going where its needed in both ways. Whoever can use the urinal is cordially invited to and if a father needs to change his kids diaper then dont act all surprised if he cares less about getting some odd looks than using the changing station

My (30F) dad died a few years ago and I had flown back to my home state to be with him in his last days and then be with my family for a couple weeks to get affairs in order and just generally grieve together. Terrible time but I am also SO glad I was able to be there. Anyway, the day after I returned home I was driving through town and was pulled over-I think my tags were expired? The officer was just being, like, way too nosey especially after I said something like “oh shoot, it must have expired while I was out of town”, and he ended up asking me why I was out of town with this weird incriminating tone. I had spent several days crying and mourning and was pretty emotionally exhausted at this point so, I looked at him straight in the face and with a deadpan tone, told him “well, my dad died”. He visibly reeled and then rushed off to his patrol car to gather his paperwork returning with just a quick, short warning. That interaction actually made me laugh and I *know* my dad would have laughed as well! 😂

    • @katie6731
      @katie6731 Před 2 měsíci +128

I'm an invisibly disabled, cisgender woman who has gotten multiple airport pat-downs. For the record, the term "pat-down" is misleading. There's really no patting; instead, the security agents smooth their hands along the body. I'll explain the procedure I've been through in detail as a reference, in case anyone is curious or wants a comparison point. I am happy to answer questions; nothing is off limits or too personal. Seriously. If I can be useful, I'm happy to do so. _Everyone_ should be treated with the dignity and respect I've been privileged (which I _hate,_ but will ruthlessly use as an ally) to experience.
I have an implanted medical device located in my back, just above my right hip. It pumps medication into my spine (kind of like an epidural, except a teensy bit deeper) to reduce my chronic pain from unbearable to just plain terrible. One of the benefits is that I get some pain relief without the drowsiness or other unpleasant side effects of other routes of pain medication delivery. (I'm happy to answer questions about this, and the spinal cord stimulator I had beforehand.) The general safety instructions, per the pump's user manual, caution me to avoid passing through any magnetic security devices that have a ceiling.
My pat-downs have been quite consistent.
As I am female-presenting, they find a female agent for me. This can take a while. There have been times I've waited at least twenty minutes (which cut it pretty clo, and have told them that I'm fine with a male agent performing the pat-down; I have had so many medical staff handle me that I long ago stopped caring about people touching me clinically. I do not remember any male agent performing a pat-down on me, but chronic migraines have made a mess of my memory, so I can't be sure. Hubs handles putting our belongings (including my shoes) through the metal detector and collecting them. He is not allowed near me from the moment I'm taken aside for my pat down.
Once they have a security agent, this is what happens:
-I stand on a mat, with my feet about hip-width apart, as indicated on the mat.
-The screener puts on fresh gloves.
-I'm asked to raise my arms, so that they're straight out, at roughly a 90° angle from my body.
-The screener usually starts with my front. With medium pressure, they hold the front of their hands flat against my body, with their fingers parallel with the floor, and make parallel, downward passes from shoulder-height to about where my breasts start (if I'm wearing clothing that covers this area). They do this until they have checked the whole area, from one shoulder to the other.
-They repeat the same motions from below my breasts (just under where the bottom of a bra hits) to about the level of my hip bones.
-They do the same with my legs. Some screeners curve their hands to follow the contours of my legs, and some keep their hands flat. They start fairly high up on the thighs, but _do not_ touch my crotch at all.
-When finished smoothing along my legs, they go back and carefully feel the hems of my clothing, and my ankles under my socks (if I'm wearing any).
-They follow the same procedure along my arms, checking the hems of sleeves. Once that is finished, I am allowed to put my arms down.
-Then, they explain that they will briefly run the *backs of their hands* over my breasts and pelvic area. This is always done quickly and clinically, using the same, parallel, downward motions as on the rest of my body. There is no lingering, grabbing, cupping, or anything of the sort. They do *not* put their hand(s) between my legs.
-They explain that they will hold one hand bladed (like a "karate chop" position) and run the side with the pinkie around the bottom contour of my breasts. This follows the path of where an underwire would sit on a bra. Again, it is done briskly and impersonally.
-They ask me to turn and face away from them, keeping my legs hip-width apart, and leaving my arms down.
-They follow the same procedure as with my front, only avoiding my buttocks.
-They notify me that they will use the backs of their hands on my buttocks, and use the same bladed hand position to run along the bottom curves of my buttocks, where they meet my legs.
-They check under my hair and squeeze along the length of a braid or ponytail. Some run their hands over the areas of my hair that are pulled back, too.
-Sometimes, they will wipe my skin, clothes, and/or carry-on with special paper that will pick up bits of debris that they can test for certain substances.
Security is not allowed to ask what my implanted medical device is for. They will ask the location, and if it is completely under my skin (it is). Sometimes they'll ask if it's a pacemaker or insulin pump, as those are most common. Since they can feel the pump through my skin when they reach that area of the pat-down, I pull my clothes aside, so they can see what it looks like, and confirm that the surgical scars are old and healed. They're not allowed to ask me to do that, but it makes the process easier for both of us if I volunteer it. I do have a card that was given to me by the device maker's representative to offer to security personnel. The card has some information on it, but TSA is not allowed to look at it, which is weird.
I live in Southern California, and have gone through these pat-down procedures at airports in San Diego, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Oakland, CA; San Jose, CA; Miami, FL; Lihue, HI; somewhere in Texas; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Willemstad, Curacao. The procedure has been nearly identical at each airport, both inside and outside of the US.
I have found that the type of clothing I wear can make the process go faster and require a little less touching than I have described. This is what has worked for me, I am not advocating for or against it with regard to anyone else. I wear a form-fitting tank top, capri-length yoga pants, and either flipflops on bare feet or ankle-height socks and sneakers. I pull my hair back into a French braid or ponytail, and make sure my hair tie is not bulky and does not contain metal. The only jewelry I wear is my wedding ring and sometimes earrings. This leaves very little of my body obscured. If it's cold, I'll wear a hoodie or jacket, which I take off to put through the scanner with our other carry-on items.

Sorry for the long story, here goes:
I have metal rods in my legs to keep my knee caps in place. I was at the airport (O. R. Tambo) checking in, and because I'm disabled and slow I struggle to get all my stuff out of my bags and into the boxes to scan the stuff, I tend to get stressed about holding people up and maybe I look like I'm hiding something, Idk. I walked through the detector and immediately it started going off. this is weird, it doesn't normally do that in malls and shops with detectors. So I told the menacing looking guard about my surgery. I was wearing a long skirt and stockings so I couldn't really show him my scars. The security told me to take my stockings off and I declined saying it would take too long. What follows is absolute BS in my opinion. He proceeds to prod my legs all over with his metal rod thing. It beeps where the pin is and then he whacks it. It was so painful I collapsed on the floor crying. To my amazement the people behind me rose to my defense and started shouting at the guard. The lady behind me had already finished having her stuffed scanned while all this took place, and then coerced the guard to carry me to the boarding gate. He was a massive so it wasn't impossible but still a struggle. I hate being carried but their wasn't a wheelchair nearby and I didn't want to miss my flight in the time it took them to fetch one from the other side of the airport, so I accepted. The whole way to the departure lounge he was lectured by this woman and she bought me a coffee and asked the flight hostess to switch her seat to sit with me. I was flying back to Cape Town and my Father had just died so I was grateful for her friendship. Even if it came from a seriously negative experience. Next time I'm flying assisted passenger. Sheesh.
Can I send this person a giant stuffed Pokémon? I'm sorry for the trauma, some people honestly don't deserve children. If my future child loved unicorns I would turn their bedroom into a magical unicorn land/hideout. Complete with glow in the dark stickers. We should embrace what our children love and protect them from those that would rip away their childhood.

I drove that car throughout high school, into an entirely new country when I moved for university, until I graduated, to the first hospital where I worked my residency at, and I finally bought myself a new car when I saved enough from my own dream job and my beloved first car was literally run into the ground. I love my parents so much 💓

Okay so- this might be a lil extreme on my part but bear with me.
This might sound dramatic as hell, but I've been bullied my entire school life. I understand why- seeing as I'm a socially anxious chaotic gay trans neurodivergent kid (putting it dramatically, obviously).
I never really spoke up about anything whenever it happened until at some point I burst in anger and broke something like a random rock- never really the bully or anyone.
So not so long ago, this kid keeps laying of my desk. Thing is, he did it purely to annoy me and he also looked at me and either did small remarks or gestures as if I was some kind of disease or savage.
So, one day, I was going through it and really wasn't feeling it. I go to my science class normally, sit at my desk, he lays on it like always, then I push the desk off him and he falls. I looked him dead in the eyes and told him "I hope that hurts." He asked me what my problem was, and I said "You are."
A bit after, this other guy I despise even more (he kept being really weird with his remarks and questions) comes up to me, checks what I was doing on my school laptop, and says "You can't do that." I looked him dead in the eyes, flipped him off vocally as the bell rang and walked away.
Then- one or two months later, this other guy in the same class is sitting in front of me and he laid even MORE on my desk- he took even more than half the room on the desk.
This time I asked him "Can you stop doing that?"
He laughed in my face and told me "No." while snickering and looking at his friends for backup or to show them how 'cool he was'. I stabbed him in the arm with my pencil and made him bleed. He almost punched me but said I was "lucky I am a girl" (I'm trans but didn't pass back then) and raged out of the class.
When I was sent to the counselor office, I calmly explained while stating I didn't regret it, and she let me go while allowing me a mental break from that class in a special room (best week ever).
The school never even called my parents- I told them that same night and they were okay with it, my mom was even proud I finally stood up for myself. Now, I make jokes all the time that I stabbed someone. I was also moved to the back of the class with no one sitting next or in front of me- my friend came to join later on- and I now have another thing to deal with, but I'll forever be proud of myself for it.

I had a lovely interaction the day before yesterday. I am a caregiver for my mom, who is disabled. I park in the handicap for her, and will get out either the wheelchair or the rollater (walker but for outside and with a seat). I had parked in a grocery store parking lot and was working on getting out the rollater when a guy asked me if I needed assistance getting out my device. I told him that I didn't, but thank you. He was super willing and not judgmental at all; I am 31and am physically abled for the most part (I have a spine injury but it's mostly manageable at this point and not noticeable). He didn't see my mom in the passenger seat and thought that it was for me.
Although it wasn't for me, the lack of judgement and willingness to be helpful, but also respectful of being told help wasn't needed was an amazing thing to see. I am given a lot of dirty looks for parking in the handicap spot until people see my mom get out (who is very noticeably disabled). There are many younger people who are disabled, and a lot you cannot tell that they are because it's not something you can always see. I hope more people learn to be like him.

I remembered this idea that my mom told me that boys sometimes bully girls because they're attracted to you (I'm a female aromantic, so I take an academic approach at most to this sort of thing). This gave me an idea. One time he was nagging me, as usual, and I turned around and asked, IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS, "do you bother me because you're attracted to me?" I have a bad habit of shutting down instead of reacting when people bother me, physically/verbally, whatever. But somethings happen enough that they go too far and I snap. It only happens every once in a while, and I've gotten better since getting out of the horrible emotional trauma that is middle school, but I did throw a rock at a kid once after almost 2 years of bullying while I was trying to walk home from school. I have good aim, and hit him while he was running from me (he left me alone when he realized I wasn't afraid to do it again).
So it turns out my mom and I have similar tempers, and I found this out after I became an adult. Learned that one time when she was around the same age I was ^, she was playing field hockey for a school class and a couple guys pushed her too far. She went after them and completely forgot she was holding the hockey stick until they started screaming. No one got hurt, and she only got in a bit of trouble, but they left her alone after that.

About the catcalling thing: One time i went absolutely feral at a man that was always sitting in the outdoor space of a bar and was constantly catcalling every person who remotely looked female. I had to walk there to get to a friends house and every time he screamed very off-hand disgusting things, it was so annoying and i decided one day i'll just f with him so he hopefully stops. So i put make-up on, dressed real fancy and went on my way. Of course he was there at the bar again, harassing everyone. So as i walk by he screams at me, i look at him like "oooh you mean meee, strong man?" went right to him and as soon as i was just a few meters away i started acting like a maniac, screaming, growling, hissing, moving like gollum. You get the point. I'm pretty sure he shit his pants by the look on his face. 😂 After that i went on my merry way and never saw him again. 🤷😅

I feel like that strategy can backfire so easily. Like, in your scenario it's a bit harder because the dude wasn't expecting it, and yet if he was drunk enough he would 100% buy into it.
But if I were in the same situation as the guy in the video, I will full on capitalize on it. "I like your biceps, but I like them more without the shirt", "You're gonna love what I have without the pants then".
Do I want to do the girl? No. But gawd danmit I would love to be "that guy".
When people decide that the right answer to an issue is to try and prove a point in a very dumb way, they kinda deserve their scheme to backfire.
Don't do things just because you're angry. 9/10 times it can end up badly.

When we tried to get our package (it didn’t say what was in). The woman happily gave it to me and mom while saying “you can see that Father’s Day is around the corner, huh? 😉”. I was shocked and started crying and went out of the store (since I didn’t know how to react on the accident there happend 4 days before). The lady looked confused at my mom, who replied “her father passed away 4 days ago”…
I still feel bad for the lady in the store, she was nice, but just on a really bad day.

This reminds me on an incident When I was in 6th grade.
A bit of backstory, in fourth grade I had dealt with a really shitty and abusive teacher, so much that for the next year I had to homeschool. During the time with the teacher, the other kids always called me annoying (undiagnosed adhd) as well as thinking the teachers abusive behavior was justified (duh they were 10). In 6th grade I went into a homeschool program so I could ease my way back into the school system again. One day this kid called me annoying, and it stung as it brought back memories of what had happened a few years prior. I told him to stop and he refused. The teachers could tell that he was triggering me (as my parents had informed them of the situation I was in) and told him to stop, but he didn’t listen. He was clearly having fun rialing me up, and the teachers (all of the, being their first year of teaching as it was a new program) didn’t know what to do. I eventually got pissed of and bitch slapped him in the face. I panicked for a quick second, thinking that the teachers would get angry and hit me or something, but literally no one gave a shit, some were even smiling and holding in laughter after seeing some tiny ass 6th grader make some 7th grader twice the size of her almost fall down. Not saying it’s ok to slap someone for calling you annoying, but he never bothered me again
