@Charlie Mitchell They're both rustic people with outlooks that favor simplicity and the outdoors. Plus Dwight eventually revealed he only ever wanted Michael's friendship, down to tearing up both when uninvited to the dinner party and when recognized as a friend right before Michael's departure.

They almost made a spin-off for Dwight called shrute farms. They filmed a pilot but the executives didn't like it. They later filmed Additional clips and was a part of season 9. It was the episode when dwight's aunt died.

At the end, I wanted Ron to make them new tiaras like he did for Ann’s wedding ring. The girls could help out too and become interested in crafting and forging.

A Dwight Shrute and Ron Swanson meeting would be epic. Ron is definitely the alpha of the pair, but I feel like it would be the greatest mentor/mentee pairing of all time. Dwight with his 'doglike obedience to authority' would fall in line quick, and Ron would meet someone actually agreeing with 99% of what he says. The major difference would probably be Dwight's love for beets and Rons disgust for anything vegetable. xD
Dwight is also into beef jerky and knows how to clean a goose. I'm sure Ron would be fine with that.
