Why can't people understand that someone with bad intentions doesn't go to the trouble of verifying state laws to legally own a firearm? He didn't carry it back to Illinois and walk around with it. He set it up to stay within the laws of both states until he could legally own it in Illinois, where he lived, only 20 miles away, at age 18. Someone who just wanted to wreak havoc would have ignored all that and took the gun home to Illinois, but he left it in WI in his friend's name and only used it in WI where he legally could. People who just want to strut around with a gun don't do all that. He could have moved to WI and had his gun all the time if that was such a huge priority to him. It just wasn't. People in the 48 states cross state lines all day long to work and shop and visit because they live right on the state line. Populations are not exclusively in the middle of a state. There are cities that have a state line going thru them. He lived in one of those areas. A gung-ho white supremacist freak would have moved to be with his gun, dummies.
