  • US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Kyiv to reaffirm the Biden administration's support for Ukraine. Blinken has acknowledged that delays in Congress passing a military aid package have made Ukraine more vulnerable to Russian attacks. America's top diplomat also insisted the Kremlin must pay for the destruction its invasion has caused.

That's 120 billion a year, or about 300 million days since the start of the war. Now Ukraine, its GDP is about 150 billion dollars, and a third of that amount, or 125 billion since the beginning of the war. Add to this 200 billion in aid, and it turns out that Ukraine spends more on the war than Russia. We can also add to this the fact that the Russian army has 2 times fewer soldiers and has not been mobilized for almost 2 years. We also add to this the fact that the Ukrainian economy is not constrained by thousands of sanctions. How does Russia capture populated areas in this case?

They should send these air defence system …. and those needed to operate these systems. I am convinced that there are organisations who can recruit well trained and experienced operators for these systems. I am also sure there are operators willing to go to Ukraine and operate these air defence systems in a defensive and/or offensive mode.
So the excuse that the Ukrainians do not have the capacity to manage these system is just an excuse. This way could manage the perceived risks associated with the Ukrainians using the systems in an offensive mode targeting Russian territory.
This will not impact on the risk of escalation by Russians. Putin will pull the Nuclear trigger if he decides it is in his interest either way.

Ukraine’s problem is they have no reserves left. There list of experienced combat veterans and experienced officers is getting smaller. All the weapons in the world will make no difference for them without fresh recruits. Even then it will take months to train these new recruits from basic training to how to operate various weapon systems. Then there is the training of new officers that takes time as well.
Then there is Ukraine’s weapons systems intergration issue. You can’t take various weapon systems from different countries
And try to use them in a combined arms component. Each weapons is entirely different from another and without a centralized command structure these weapons will not be as effective as they should be. And what happened to the hardened built up defense line like bunkers and fighting positions?
Want to know? Embezzlement! The companies that were contracted to build the structures took the money but didn’t build a thing. The big bosses pocketed the funds. Some of the money my country, the U.S. , went into the pockets of Ukrainian politicians.
So until Ukraine straightens out its manpower problems they could be sent all the arms they want or need but there really isn’t anyone left to use them.
