This vid made me proud owner again !!
Had e65, had e61, naw got an 05 e53 160kw, all 3.0d , all of them same problems: cracked manifolds, vacuum pumps, old ccv, old oil and filters been in there for ages, had them replaced by myself, still got a lot to learn about them but they run like a dream, seems so simple to get the job done on these engines, i love to bring them back to life, it feels like you get the proper reward after you drive them. And the parts, omg if you know where to find them, you get away so cheap.
Some ppl just want to get rid of them for few quid when they see they smoke and see the costs to maintain them on garages , they're scared, but sit back and enjoy while buying really well build bmw for nothing, good for us😅
Keep up the good work !
I been using the same broom for twenty years, I've only changed the head 17 times and the handle 14 in that time. Totally the most reliable broom ever made.
LOOOOL Typical only fools and horses classic mate LOVE IT !!!
😂🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
They are more reliable than their owners.
Exactly that I agree with
@@BMWDoctor hi Dean, do you have any videos regarding problems with heating and ventilation direction. Mines has decided to act up! L9ve your channel by the way, better than any mechanic.
💥Sleep Eat Repeat BMW's💥
No other manufacturer for me, thank you 🙏🏼
Not reliable mechanics not the car from my own experience
My 2008 e60 lci with the m57 engine runs perfectly, even after 295k miles, only thing it needed was all 6 glow plugs, best car I've ever had, just like the e39 530d I owned before wich died in an accident after 321k miles
I have a 2009 bmw 535i e60 with fbo with 17t turbos, and every bolt on but port injection. I have done all of the work minus turbos and I love it. Daily driver with over 550 whp. 176,000 miles and still eating scat snacks on a daily.. love your video’s.
So. Basically the BMW e60 is reliable because you spent thousands of hours fixing her unreliability failures. An so now is reliable…
On my dictionary reliability means you have to do only the basic services… oils and filters and the normal wear…
What it is normal when you drive cars like Lexus.
So today we discover there are 2 meaning for reliability:
1 the bmw way ( fix it again, and again and again)
2 the Lexus way ( fixed before you buy it)
I guess I will go for the Lexus way😂
Thanks to these videos, my 550i is very cheap to maintain. replaced the water pump, sump gaskets, alternator oil seal, and nowonto trans servicing. The parts are relative to anything else out there... maybe a little more. Doing the work myself is far easier than other cars I've worked on. In the end, it's not a big deal if you put the time in. Mine's on 265,000km.
I feel like valve stem seals kill the N62 reputation. There is a guy with 500k miles on his E60 650i that's done valve stem seals three times - $3000 job every time.
I’ve had my 2010 e60 535i x drive for about a week now. It’s an absolute pleasure to drive. I got it from a one owner grandma who had it serviced at a bmw dealership.
Love my 520d! Despite having owned newer cars, the drive and style of the E60 is the best! 150,000 mls and going strong!
100k ;) congratulation... it’s true I still have my e60 530i 2004. I work on it. Look very good all the body. I don’t have any issues with the diamond keys. And I try my best to keep it good I have my car 15 years with me :)
I'm glad you said something about the n62. This is a great engine. It's actually a very tough engine. I love it. I've got one now like I said is about to cross over 300k miles. I personally put 143k miles on it since November of 2017. Planning to keep it and get another n62.
Of course bro I love the N62 no matter what these idiots try say about it. They just hate because they don’t know about it and can’t afford it but the N62 is a great engine if you know what your doing and the common issues and it’s looked after properly it’s a strong reliable engine.
@@BMWDoctor Love these cars I have a 2009 550I amazing machine, had to replace the valve seals, did it myself for under $1000, I installed a lower temp thermostat and K&N air filter, fast with an amazing power band, love it!
@@memphisgoober these cars heat up too much in Florida weather n melts all the gasket
@@BMWDoctor What do you do to prevent valve stem failure though? Pretty annoying that they're shot after like 130k miles.
Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking to buy one of these for a while and just wanted to see what goes wrong with them.
I’ve liked them since they were launched and the m sport ones have so much more presence than most other large executives.
picked up my first e61 535d 2005/11 with 260k miles on it.. it as a insanely well filled out service book... everything is already done, electronics, turbo/s gasgets. it drives like a dream... so now im just prepareing to keep it going as long as possible. previous owner had it for 10 years and took care of it like a baby!.... the only down side to it is a eco chip tune so it has 310hp and goes a bit further l/km.... it has been serviced every 15k km for the past 10 years and big service (including gearbox) every 60k.. will cross my oil greasy fingers that i can push plenty more miles out of it !
I love mine has well over 200k with original motor and trans . Still rides smoothly. Interior holds up well . They are safe cars as well all while being sporty and looking timeless.
Exactly bro and thats why I love it
I've had my 525i LCI M-Sport (N53) for a year now and i don't regret it at all, i've serviced it twice myself and treat it like a puppy. 160k miles and still goes like a train.
Totally agree with your ethos Dean , having a 6 series diesel myself I don't expect anything more than what it is designed for . Many a time I hear of mates saying to remap it but I'm too sensible for that . I also think a good understanding of ista d and an eagerness to learn more from it is leaps and bounds when owning a BMW . 👍
Exactly mate these cars are incredible shame the little Toyota and Honda squads don't know about this this is why they come watching about BMW because there ain't nothing interesting to watch on a minicab.
The Toyota and Hondas are dressed inside like something from the queens living room in the 1950s curtains I mean who actually drives them heaps of s**t this day and age
You guys are off your rockers to compare these BMW’s with Japanese cars in terms of reliability, you don’t understand what reliability means, a Toyota will go hundreds of thousands of miles before you get anything substantial fail in the engine/gearbox, I love BMW’s, Japanese cars are e nothing (except Lexus) in comparison to an E60 but in terms of reliability there galaxies ahead of them, because they’re simply engineered & overbuilt where as BMW’s are over engineered, complicated & modern ones are cheaply built, ofcourse a modern bmw can be reliable.....if you keep fixing it, just like a FIAT, you hardly have to touch a Japanese car to keep it going, can abuse it, not service it regularly & it will keep going on, in the Far East I’ve seen very old Toyota’s where the body is in shambles, cracked almost halfway down the length of the car, barely holding onto the chassis, interiors falling apart, large holes in the floor you can put your foot through, but the engines refuse to give up, & they operate in harsh, dusty/extremely hot conditions, owned by people who cannot afford to “maintain” them, but they won’t die.
A BMW is reliable if you can fix the unreliability out of it, just like any other unreliable machine, but in no way is a reliable car.
@@BMWDoctor lol...
Well said Dean, had BMW's for years & have just bought the one i have been looking for absolute ages, a mint E61 lci 530d with all the toys, i intend to keep this car for year & your vids will be my first port of call for any problems i have!
Nice one!
Looking forward to your N62 vid!
Coming soon!
Totally agree! Yes, I had issues with my E60 but all okay now. Did most the work myself. Love the thing to bits!!
Great to hear!
Thank you BMW Doctor! If I may ask you one question:
Im picking up a 2007 525i. The previous owner just replaced the transmission solenoids, as the second gear solenoid was bad and he decided to replace them all. Upon putting the transmission back in, the car wouldn’t start (car ran perfectly fine before he removed the transmission). It doesn’t crank or anything. He then proceeded to replace the starter, and it still won’t start or crank over. So he gave the car to me and I’m going to try to figure out the no-start no-crank issue.
My question is would you know why it’s not starting? Are there any fail safe’s this BMW has that I should know about which is preventing it from cranking or starting? Fuses? Relay’s?
Thank you.
It's 2023 & I own a BMW e60 530i M-sport & I absolute love it! So comfy to drive and solid on the road. Best car I ever had.
I bought myself an 2009 E60 535d, and it's the best car I have ever had. Just changed the oils, filters and everything yesterday, cost me less than a hundred. I did have to change thermostats aswell, but that was very cheap, and the car runs beautifully and is hella quick.
nice dean just bought a 2008 BMW 550i and the mechanic said it was "in perfect order" checked it out no leaks but as i drove home the system pressurized with a slow drip of coolant that i didnt catch at the time of my inspection which overnight turned into a puddle of coolant ( checked oil pan, valve cover, water pump etc) i ended up getting a 200$ check back from the seller to cover the cost of what i found out to be leaking was the valley pan gasket. i also got a code for knock sensors which actually led me to the vALLEY PAN. my hunch was the valley pan was leaking hot coolant and frayed up the bank 1 knock sensor and sure enough i was right. i replaced the valley pan gasket, intake manifold gasket, fuel inject o rings, knock sensors with GENUINE BMW PARTS! and also the coolant reservoir after i re pressure tested the system and found out it was leaking, after all those i re pressured system to 22 psi and it held without a single leak. NOW I GOT A SOLID RIDE FOR 6000$! its a 2008 BMW 55OI M-Sport LOADED it was 75k in the states new in 08! very happy with the car it was alot of work but its good now! also it just had a used trans with 50k put in. total miles are 140k now, solid cars man
Adding quality and bringing a smile and laugh to my face during this COVID gloom. All good!!! 😂👌👍😎
of course bro thats what I'm here for don't worry bro I have more in store its time to lay it out to some People the truth is the truth and if they don't like it F**K EM
Mine had been reliable but I’ve been having an issue where cylinder 1 misfires and Then it loses power and start idling rough then an “engine malfunction” light turns on. I’ve changed plugs/injectors and coils I did a diy smoke test and nothing showed up. Any ideas?
I live in Brazil and I have an e60 550i 2007 5 years old with me now it has 25 thousand miles. I haven't had any problems yet. she sleeps in an underground garage. I don't sell and I don't trade. one of the best cars i ever bought
Big up Dean! Even though I own a N43 I’ve still found out a lot of information about Bmw in general! 💯
More to come!
@@BMWDoctor save my bmw 523i with payment obviously.
I have a 2008 550i m sport. Owned for 4 years. I’ve dumped money into it but it’s worth every penny. Just did the transmission filter service, oil change. Control arms sway bar end links. Got my alternator/water pump upper/lower hoses. Belt. Right and left bank oil leaks . Now need to do the struts all the way around and I’m good . No lights on dash runs like a dream. Now to add a E60 m5
I love the E60 more than any car, thank you for your videos! I have a 2008 LCI E60 M5 (1 owner, low miles, every service done at BMW) and a 1 owner 2009 E60 LCI 530d 6speed manual individual, M-Sport package. I would never sell one of my E60s.
Right on!
You have literally taught me things I never would have done. I never thought I could work on my car. Thank you for everything!
You are so welcome!
So much more satisfying when you're able to do things yourself! And with the knowledge Dean has it becomes doable for the average person as long as they're willing!
Ive got 530d. Best car Ive ever had love it good work keep it up
Thanks! 👍
Appreciate all you do to inform new bmw owners I owned mine for a year and worked on it what are your ideas on the 08 e60
Amen brother! I love my 2007 550. I hope to have it another 5+ years. Just fantastic. Complex, yes, but was way ahead of its time. An engineering marvel. Yes, I replaced my transmission, yes it has the valley pan issue, yes it needs the valve seals replaced - but 14 years later I still love it and know it is worth working through the issues. Crazy awesome to drive!!!
You and me both!
Btw LOVE your channel. Great information. I just did a CCC replacement and coded it myself. Great info from your channel!
Good man was it new or used ?
@@BMWDoctor hello - it was used. Bought it off eBay here in the states. I have an L7 amp and it wasn’t coded for my Config (no sound at all). I was missing my climate control as well. A super simple coding did the trick. I plan to sell mine for parts in the near future. The nav CD is stuck in it so hopefully it is worth a few bucks to someone. We shall see.
I have a e60 525d for 3years! I've done about 90k km in this time and it has been verry realible, i use it as a daily driver and on long drives, i just love thia car! My m57 engine hase about 430k km and goes like a dream ...
Sorry for my bad english 😀
Thanks for sharing
Amazing video, I love my E60 and I always try to do my best and treat it right. And a short question: I have replaced the mass air flow sensor and I have no oppurtunity to do the adaption as I can't get out of the city due to the virus until february most likely, and will it do any bad to the car if I drive it like for 10 miles with out the adaption? Thank's in advance 🙂
I needed this video 💪🏽 ! You da goat 🐐🐐🐐
Appreciate it
Owner of an 06 530xi 6 spd with 170k on it. Still runs amazing as a daily driver and i drive 90 miles round trip a day in the Adirondack region.
Good to know my friend
I had a e60 520d 2006 and did 300,000 miles on it. Serviced it well and replaced any parts with originals. Few little issues, I.e. airCon, or fan, or battery. Paid £9k for it, 10 years later sold it for £2k. So the 2.0d is not a bad engine in my experience, if you use it what it is meant to be used for, long journeys, economy + comfort.
I’ve bought an x4 2.0d G02 now - and will treat it with respect and I’m sure it will do well also.
Hi, I’m getting my E60 520D 2005 very soon. Please advice me on what I need to do to keep it running for as long as I can. Maintenance advice please.
What about the timing chain ?
Was thinking of buying f10 2011 520d? Do i need to be worried about the timing chain.
I love my e60.it's a deisel 530. It's done nearly 170,000 the only thing iv had to replace so far is a couple of belts..so much power for a deisel.. and smooth as..Good channel bro
Very nice!
E60 is a good car! I have a 2004 520i, and I love it! But I have a hard time to bleed the cooling system! The electrical method dosen’t work (where u set the temperature high and fan level lowest) so what do i do? Is it the electrical method on the 2004?
Iv got 5series 3l diesel for about nearly 6years and it’s done 215000miles so far and touch wood like he says on the video you need to look after it and they will never let you down . Oil change every six month , v power fuel always an extra couple of quids on top of what you use to pay on a cheaper car won’t hurt .
Only had mine 5 weeks lci 2009 530d first week ownership engine was stripped doing swirl flaps
Lovely motors been a e46 vert fan but this is proper luxury motoring loving the paddles shift
Very nice it means you have M57TU perfect engine and I love them with the paddles LCI
Brilliant video!
Thanks for guys, like you, who share your knowledge. I was able to replace the head gasket on my e60 N52 with no prior experience. Keep up the good work.. thanks Doc
Would you recommend the 520d 2005 model for long trips weekends and vacations only? It will not be my daily driver because I bike everyday to go to work.
Hi! Would you share what is wrong with the 2L engine please? The 520i. Thank you!
Hey man I have a 08 528i and my car is vibrating at idle when I hit the gas it smooths out, I want to get rid of this problem but I don’t know what to do, I’ve done the valve cover gasket and have changed the spark plugs and replaced the coils with all new Bosh ones, it has 160k on it and it’s my daily driver, if you have any advice I’d really appreciate it, I work on my cars myself and don’t want to go to a shop
hi Doc, i had an e60 2004,that i used for 5 yrs,but recently sold it.Which other model year would you advice is reliable for the e60.?
Hi Dean.
Quick question, I have a 525i auto and am having gearbox failsafe faults.
Gearbox has been serviced and still not fixed, garage said something about L1-L4 fault.
Is this something you could fix?
I love my E60...I do ASAP repairs..like your style bro!
Thanks! 👍
Your channel is great - has helped me with several things. I have a new problem with my E60 which is giving me fits, though. I get random electrical problems - windows all roll down on start up, servo-mech failure comes on and power steering goes out but warning disappears after a couple of minutes and if I stop the car all goes back to normal, I get the engine malfunction warning (reduced power), but again, I shut the car off and on restart the problem is gone. Doesn't happen everyday, just random times but at least once a week. Have connected my scanner, but no faults with any of those systems show. Can't tell if it's a wonky control module or bad ground wire or what. Any ideas for what could cause this are appreciated. Thanks!
I love my E34 for 5 years, i love my E39 for 5 years and now i love my E60 since 2 years. May be, in some years (i´m 61) i look for an E34 back. His face was the last with a little bit aggrevisitate. I mist that :-(
Very happy with my e61 550 LCI. Have spent quite a lot in repairs and service, but hey, if I don’t have the time or knowledge to do it myself I have to pay! That’s how it is. Had some bad luck, but that can happen to any car. It’s a great, complicated car with a big and brilliant engine - and has to be treated like that. To me it’s the perfect family car and I love it!
Right on
what do you think of the e60 m5 v10 andy? I need your expert opinion on it, as im thinking of getting one, but heard something about having too tight rod bearings with not enough clearance for oil to really work in. thanks andy.
I’ve owned my 2008 550i msport for a year now and never had a problem 🤷🏼♂️. But I putting money into the motor for it to get supercharged🤷🏼♂️I love the 550i
Hi bro! Can you please make a video on how to keep the car running for as long as it can run. All the maintenance advice bro. Thank you! Loving the content!
520d and 525d LCI 08s zero problems just regularly expected maintenance & things for their age. Incredible quality cars. Had a F10 and G30 as well. G30 was better due to being newer that was about it lol. E60 is still mechanical and feels like a proper car driving it, not a floating electro mechanical computer
Bought my 535d and followed all your videos since I bought it and probably one of the best cars I've owned so far
The E60 always will be the most reliable and las reliable BMW of its time
Spot on mate , another great review .
Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it
Because of you finally i get my own E60 530d 2007 and so far i love it and i enjoyed every mile.
Just wondering what you think about K&N air filter for M57?
Go for it bro K&N Is perfect for the Diesel engines and you know why ? it will save you in the long run them air filters are expensive for what they are where with K&N its lifetime just clean and put back in easy save yourself £30 every time you do it
I have an e60 525d m sport and I love it. Its had a few niggle faults but what car on the market hasn't. I've replaced the crank pulley, starter motor, carried out the swirl flap delete and unblocked its dpf, ( the legal way ) and its now probably the most reliable car I've owned.
Good to hear
BTW, sent ya message earlier today on insta. Wont go into it on here. Just wondering if ya got it. Its under pancho. 🤔
i agree with 530d i have a 520d m47 engine on almost 200k miles and i make sure i keep on top of everything and its been good apart from crankshaft pully
Love your channel bro ❤ keep up the amazing work you do haters gonna hate
True that bro don't I know it let them hate its pushing me to number one bro
@@BMWDoctor it that the truth
monaco blue with the shadow trim. Sharp , my 06 530xi the same. 255k miles I`ve done water pump, front lower control bushings, coils plugs. oil cooler seals, wiper arm, brakes & tires. no engine sensor repair of any kind ! did my own oil changes at 7k. mostly interstate miles.
My 2008 BMW 550i is reliable and still looks sexy compared to most recent cars these days.
Can you answer why i have no power getting to my cigar lighter fuses 2005 e60 m sport
Very good advice, good car for someone who is massive fan or love this car, however I don't buy car for fixing it on the weekends ,I want to drive it on the weekend ,that's why I stick to Japanese.
Honda Accord ....
Same here, I’d rather have something more reliable, and that doesn’t need constant fixing. So I also stick to Japanese(Toyota). I’ve not needed to keep buying oil and coolant since I’ve sold my 3 series BMW 😂😂😂😂😂
Got a Honda accord with 180k miles and only thing that has gone wrong is an alternator that I replaced myself for £250. Having said that it's no drivers car. I have a Porsche for that.
Love my E60 150000k no issues at all, best performance, best ride, great fuel economy. I have done starter took like 4 hours to change out big deal
Looking forward tech support info on maintaining the S63b44t4
I have e60 550i. Everyone is hating n62 but over the past two years I have done only regular maintenance and the car has no issues at all. The only one thing that failed is the engine oil cooler.
Good man you see a N62 reliable thats what I like to see and everyone saying its the MOST UNRELIABLE ENGINE is it f**k
I have a 08 528xi e60 with 197k and have a engine tick trying to remedy any suggestions it is a great car love it.
I love E60 with N52, best cars in the world.
Dean I have enjoyed your channel. I have owned my 2008 E60 535i since new (15+ years). My advice is don’t buy any BMW unless you can afford to maintain it. This model replaced my 1994 E36 which unfortunately in Canada rusted out (it still had the original clutch).
After driving those 1.2. 1.6 2.0 engines Ford's Toyota Citroen here in South Africa for decades I'm looking forward to buy 5series before the fall of this year. I will be looking for anything after 2004 and I'm saving passionately
Missing my E34 - which I never should have sold. Had it over 6 years and was one of the most reliable cars I've ever had & I've had a few. Love the look of the Bangle designed E60 but was put off by all the negative reports of electronic issues & so on. Wonder what year and engine you might recommend - pre or post lci - to avoid too many issues? Pretty good at DIY maintenance & I don't mind working on my car - but not all the fxxxing time!
Dr dean what do you think about the 550i and the v8 engine?
Perfect go buy it bro I love 550i and I love N62 :)
Sir, you have spoken the truth in this Video! A fan from Detroit.
Thank you
Hey dean..in my country its really hard to find an N52.. looking forward to buy one.. cheers mate.
E60 does look stunning, but as a younger BMW owner, i prefer 3. series E90/E92. The car was recently brought from Germany at 198k kilometers and bought it at August this year. E90 325d, has M57D30TÜ2 (aluminum block) engine and has 145 kW. Car had mostly issues with suspension, fluids, 15 year old stock battery, glow plugs, break disks and pads, back door window and boot. Engine and turbo themselves were clean without any problems. Tires and rims were some cheap aftermarket stuff that weren't compatible with BMW even and also got both tires and rims changed. Tires were new (i went with 235/45 instead of 225/45) but rims were used "Type 158" 17x8. Fluids and other most issues have been fixed, all that leaves are windows, boot and tire alignment as earlier rims were too broken to actually align wheels ideally after suspension and break disk change.
3 out of 4 earlier owners took good care of the car with oil changes and such, last one left it at garage to rot and now i am 5th. Right now, i was forced to ask a local mechanic to repair the car for me but he is also a BMW enthusiast so i am confident he knows what he is doing. So far, all the tires, rims, battery, fluid changes and repairs have cost me about 2100€. With few more cosmetic repairs i should have total of repair budget of 2500€ or under.
After the repairs are done, i am planning to get a cheap scanner for my BMW. What OBD scanner i should get? I've heard a lot of good stuff about Creator C310+, but i would rather have a bit more universal cheap scanner, if possible (BMW oriented scanner is still fine). And should i use Run-Flat tires instead of regular tires and should i go with original 225/45 Run-Flats or 235/45 are also fine? Lastly, do 235/45 require a slightly different wheel alignment than 225/45 does or is alignment universal around regular 225/45 vs 235/45 and Run-Flat 225/45 vs 235/45? Run-Flat and Regular tire prices are somewhat same at my tire shops.
P.S. Car was bought for 6600€.
Can I pick your brains about a weird audio issue with my 2005 630i please. Only the rear speakers work, not the front. There’s no gong noises or chimes for open doors etc too. Lots of reading suggests the amp, I’ve had a look and it has been replaced already by the looks of it last year. Any idea ?
I’m playing this video in my new wait room!!!!😎
I hear what you're saying about the 2 litre engine being crap on the e60 but aren't the m47 & m57 the same engine except for the fact the m47 has two less cylinders?
True with most BMWs. If you take of it, it'll take care of you. But it takes some real technical ability to keep these going without F-ing them up. I love buying awesome cars for cheap, so I don't mind the stereotype! 👍
i just acquired an 06 e60 m5 and it's amazing..are parts expensive? yep. I just experienced my first engine malfunction. p1209 brake vacuum sensor. I can get the malfunction at cold start. if the error occurs I can restart and the malfunction goes away. will be changing the sensor soon. it's a car, it will need maintenance and repair. I accept that.
I wanna buy a 2009 e60 525i with manual transmission. It’s only 48k the odo. Think it’s a good buy for a 2 year keep? It’s been well maintenance (so they say) and i couldn’t find an issue when I looked and test drove it. I guess not because it’s 2.5 and I’m not a mechanic..
What about a 2008 e60 550i with the 4.8 v8 and a manual transmission?
If you do all the necessary work to it... Thinking about dropping it into my 2004 325i.
Wow, I wish I’d watched this before I bought my N47 320d :( I like it though, compared to my 2004 focus.valuable advice!
Sorry to hear that
What are your thoughts on a 2008 BMW 525i e60 as a used car 190,000 klm & getting an independent BMW mechanic .
BMW 520D 2009 LCI N47 Engine // 189,000 Miles // 220hp 470nm // Taking note on what you’ve mentioned about the N47 engine, I will have to bare some of that in mind for the long term.
I have owned mine for 2 years and admittedly I have had several Issues ….. I fell In love with it and was always prepared to sink money into it. After watching many videos, reading forums and thinking about what I want long term I have decided I’m not ready to part with this lovely gal just quite yet.
She’s the perfect long journey car, excellent comfortability, top notch family car. I do my best at keeping on top of everything…. I’ll see what happens after I hit 200 - 250K ….
Thank you for all the advice, very helpful.
Maybe the V10 is my next adventure! 💁😎
It’s alright I’ve had a 2004 170k miles only had one issue with it and was an easy fix
My first bmw was a 520d. Only issue was the air con leaking. Did up to 160k mileage till ulez kicked in and needed to get rid of it.
🙏 thank god for the ULEZ the best invention ever getting rid of diesels off the road. Hopefully London will be a cleaner city eventually I’m just waiting for them to bring in the pay per mile in London aswell. Feel sorry for anyone who lives there where I am you can drive whatever you want even without MOT or tax if you feel like it 😊
Just changed a wheel bearing on my bmw 535d lci then got a code on my reader saying saying wheel direction but when check the speeds they all read the same dont suppose u have an idea
Mate, someone told me that you can’t worry about reliability forever. You need to chose what you want, and accept every flaw and perfection with it. And you’ve said that exact point, pick your wheels and love every aspect of her. Otherwise you’ll be driving a vanilla Honda your whole life.
Cheers, you convinced me to get one, though finding a manual one is hard in Canada.
That is so right, keep thinking which is the senceble choice, which is the reliable car & end up buying something you don't even like or even like driving but you bought it because of the low repair costs how sad to live life like that that is the way of the none enthusiastic driver life is to short to be Mr senceble throw corstion to the wind & go with your heart & buy the car you realy love spend less on your woman & think I earn the money I'm have the car & gladly pay to get it fixed when it's needed so yeah I've studied deans vids watched the latest vid on this car last week & watched this vid at least 5 times yes he's blunt yes he says wat he wants regardless buy HE IS RIGHT so stay with BMW don't listen to mr senceble Mr boring don't be put off with all E10 shit put super in it yes it's more but isent your car worth it I've been e34 E39 man for past 15 yrs B10 alpina e34 & E39 e28s but I'm right now looking for a E60 530 for me it's straight 6 or nothing I'll stop now. Live, drive, bmw
Got a 525d and its sick love it
Good man
I'm looking to buy a budget car in 2023 and I've put my eyes on one of these. Main reason would be because space and comfort. Would you recommend this car for someone who will have the time to manage/learn to support it?
If you want space the boot space is unreal.
If you turn a wrench, n52 is a 300k+ engine. Clean your sunroof drains, so the modules in the back don’t get flooded. Use ISTA and they’re EASY to wrench on. Mechanically they’re as simple as it gets to work on. Easier than a Ford by far
Exactly my friend
I'm a 5 series guy, qualified mechanic. I have owned E34 535i, E60 530i M Sport and currently own E39 528i M Sport, wife drives an F15 X5 30D. The E60 was a great car but made from cheaper materials than the E34 and E39. The build quality and materials used in the older cars was second to none. My E39 is the best car out of 36 cars I've owned, not the fastest or most expensive or exotic, but it's 23 years old and still going strong, everything is holding up well especially the interior compared to E60, it does everything I want from a car and has that timeless BMW styling, E39 is the best 5 series. I'd happily own an E60 M5 though.
