This song is a Metaphor of life.
As true in this song as it was for hundreds of years before, with the idiom “play your cards right.” Even at the lowest of stakes, life can be a gamble.
It's really awesome how some of the newer generation is actively discovering the great music from yesteryear. Makes me happy :)
The Kenny Rogers song "Coward of the County" is a song you will also like and tells a story. Isn't music magical? A Romanian gal in Germany reacting to Kenny Rogers song written in 1978.
Coward of the county is a great song. Very shocking but has a very important moral lesson.
Please do coward of the county!
Coward of the county is a good choice .
"Somewhere in the darkness, the Gambler he broke even." That means he died in his sleep.
Cool never knew that
it doesn't really, it means he died without debt, you read your bible like you read lord of the rings
Yep he says in the next line that he thinks about the Gambler’s “final words” which is the chorus.
And earlier in the song he says “all you can hope for is to die in your sleep” and that’s what happens to the Gambler. He put out his cigarette. Looked out the window. Went to sleep and died.
@@Flum666 I'm sorry that you're incapable of understanding the lyrics
It absolutely does.
Kenny Rogers did a great rendition when he appeared on THE MUPPET SHOW!
The chorus is the perfect advice for getting through life...know what to keep, throw away what's not needed and run like hell from what's not desirable.
Very true!
He had another big hit with "Islands in the Stream", a duet with Dolly Parton 🙂👍
Yes, Islands in the Stream is beautiful. 👍🏼
Hi, a song written by the bee gees
Honestly, any Kenny and Dolly duet is always good. They had such amazing chemistry.
"Coward of the County"
Another Kenny Rogers song that tells a story.
He was so unassuming. Almost a reluctant superstar
This is THE song that comes to mind when I think of Kenny Rogers, such an iconic song lol
The great thing about the Gambler's advice is that it's not really about gambling, even though it works for gambling.
Kenny was a big crossover artist in the late 70’s into the 80’s. Everyone knew his songs, no matter what type of music you liked.
No joke. Everyone from the cowboys to the metalheads sing along to this every time.
See what condition my condition was in.
Ruby, don't take your love to town
Kenny Rogers and the First Edition.
@@Rystefnthere was an old video from the 80s that had lemmy singing along to Kenny rogers and explaining why he liked his voice to someone off camera.
Throng is metaphorical. It's about life. He's telling him the lessons of life in metaphors.
Yes, this is a country music song. Although this crossed over on the music charts at the time.
Kenny and The First Edition. ..
Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town...live
I was lucky enough to see Kenny Rogers in concert. During the concert, he tasked a woman in the front row to raise her hand every time he sang a song that went to number one in the charts. She went home with $2400. Great showman, great artist and a great performance. RIP Gambler. ❤️
I too was lucky enough to see him, but it was back in the 70's when it was Kenny Rogers and the First Edition at a Dinner Theater
I think the word your looking for is "Gravelly". Kenny could have a gravelly voice at times.
Yay, The Gambler. She's going to know, When to hold them... (nods)
I'm sure you would like Kenny's "coward of the County" which is another great story telling song.
I'm almost 50. My mom was a huge Kenny Rogers fan so I know him well and yes, COUNTRY. This review gave me chills with all the memories as I sang word for word (even after not hearing it for probably 20 years) and the comments brought up other KR songs....oh man. thank you for this. It made an old man feel young.
Hi Miss Bisscute 👋 ( Madalina 😊 )
The Gambler is A Fantastic story song & Kenny Can deliver it well !!! Yet for Me one of his Most Beautiful songs was ( She Believes in me 🤗 ) &( Love will turn you around ) but that's my humble Opinion !!! Like button ✅ has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🎙️🎧🎹🎸🎵
Definitely Country!!! 🤠🤠🤠
This was really popular when it came out, so much so that it was turned into a made for TV movie starring Kenny Rogers as the gambler. His song Coward of the County also became a TV movie, after which Kenny starred in a few theatrical release movies. The 80’s.
This is real country.
Thank you my sweet mother for sharing Kenny Rogers with me when I was a little one!!! 🕯️🕯️🕯️🥰🥰🥰
A must for any fan of Kenny Rogers and/or Dolly Parton is their live duet of "Islands In The Stream" (written by Barry Gibbs of the Bee Gee's).
The coward of the county...❤
R.I.P Kenny Rogers.💔
For other Kenny Rogers songs, I recommend "Coward of the County", "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town"
Happy Birthday! If your Birthday is Western/Cowboy themed, a few good songs would be Marty Robbins - "El Paso", "Big Iron", "Ghost Riders in the Sky"
Love your reaction as usual Miss Bisscute❤❤❤. Kenny Is a musical Icon. You should react to His song The coward of The Country.
It's time for Coward of the County. Good song that tells a story and it was also a made for tv movie (1981).
Coward of the County, Love Will Turn You Around, and Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town are all fantastic songs from this era of Kenny's career. They're all worthy of a reaction.
I've mentioned a lot of this before, but Kenny Rogers had been around a long time and done different stuff before he really broke out as a huge solo artist, and by this time, had pretty much been doing more Country than Rock, and this is definitely considered a Country song. Rock N Roll really originated out of a mixture of, among other genres, mainly The Blues and Country, so there is a lot of times where there's crossover, and they basically sound very similar, and particularly at that time, a lot of the popular Country music that was coming out of Nashville, was considered much more Pop than Country, so there wasn't always that much of a difference in the mainstream. Yes though! This song was such a super hit, and still probably his biggest song ever because of how catchy that chorus is. I think I was born the same year this song came out, and I mentioned last time that it inspired a series of TV movies when I was a little boy, and there's no way that you didn't know this song back then, and that it didn't get stuck in your head!
I'd check out "I Just Dropped In" next. It's an older song of his from when he was with the band First Edition, and it's more Rock than you've heard from him yet. You actually have heard it already, as it was heavily featured in "The Big Lebowski".
My parents listened to this when I was young
Great Reaction.... Happy Birthday Beautiful.....
Kenny Made 4 TV Movies inspired by his song "The Gambler".....
Kenny made a TV Movie based on his song "Coward of the County"
Kenny Rogers in the movie Six pack.
You'll want to check out Islands In the Stream...Kenny's iconic duet with Dolly Parton (another country music legend!!). Have an amazing birthday party, cowgirl 🤠
Yeah it's called the Smokers voice cause smokers generally have it! And this song is amazing!
Kenny Rogers has been in a number of movies. One of my favorites is 'Six Pack' with a young Diane Lane and Anthony Michael Hall.
I absolutely adore that movie.
From WikiPedia: "(Kenny's cover of "The Gambler") was a No. 1 country hit, and made its way to the pop charts at a time when country songs rarely crossed over. It was released in November 1978 as the title track from his album The Gambler, and won him the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1980."
Riding the wave of success of this song, Kenny went on to use his character (Brady Hawkes) as the basis for...not one...not two...but FIVE movies!
Cowboy songs..
Happy Trails...
Tumbling Tumbleweed...
El Paso...Theme to
The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Hey Miss Biss amazing reaction to one of the greatest country music superstars Kenny Rogers he's a icon &legend and from all Biss Nation says you Rock!!!❤❤😮😅😢🫠🙃
Happy birthday
Kenny Rodgers had so many hit's Biss I really love "Buy Me A Rose" 🥰
Coward of the County , would be a good one to watch next
all lessons of life in a few minutes !!!
If you like Kenny Rogers then you should do more Bob Seger. They have similar voices.
Kenny was both Country and Rock at the same time. Many of his Songs were on the Charts for both at the same time!
He Also did Duets as well... He did a cover with Sheena Easton called "We got Tonight", Then There's "Don't fall in love with a Dreamer", "Islands in the Stream" and "Every time 2 fools Collide".
Kenny also sang in the Legendary 80's Anthem, "WE ARE THE WORLD"!
This song and the song Coward of the County were turned into movies.
You are entirely correct to feel Country vibes. He is considered one of country music's greatest legends, with tons of awards and recognition.
Some other songs of his to consider for storytelling are "Coward of the County" or "Lucille". "She Believes in Me", "Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer", "Love Will Turn you Around" or "Through the Years" are great showcases of his romantic spirit and his voice. "Island in the Stream" is probably his best known duet, it features Dolly Parton, but he has live versions with many great female vocalists.
My mother used to play Kenny Rogers all the time when we were young. I still know all the lyrics to some of his songs.
Biss, if you want some great, catchy, story songs, may I suggest Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" , "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" and many others, all good.
Operator, time in a bottle
Kenny Rogers was one of the best. I saw him in concert about 5 times
The low singer you heard was Kenny Rogers - he did some of the backing vocals for this song as well. This song also inspired four TV miniseries/movies starring Kenny Rogers (he could also act) as Brady Hawks, a gambler in the American West.
If you listen to this then you are an icon for me. really, greetings from the Netherlands
Have you checked out his duets with Dolly Pardon yet? Islands in the Stream I think was one of their biggest hits.
The game the Gambler taught him to play was the game of Life
Yeah Kenny is Country, or to be more precise a lot of his earlier stuff was Country Pop which was what the Nashville Sound mostly concentrated on. There were a set of films starring Kenny based on the song The Gambler which you might be able to find. Another song that was also made into a film was Coward of the County. If you are going to have a Wild West/Country Birthday Night may I suggest you listen to Marty Robbins El Paso Trilogy of songs (El Paso, Feleena (From El Paso) and El Paso City in that order) they will give you a feel for Western Music.
A group of movies were made with this song and a lot of big names play parts some just cameos.
This song is an absolute Classic from my early childhood, and I don't believe it will ever get old (unlike me).
6:09 Bisscute's vocal analysis here is excellent, followed almost immediately by adorable sartorial humour.🤣😻
Great country song..... Thanks for the great music.
I knew you will like it! And i agree that "the coward of the county" must be the next one!
This is one of the most popular songs in the history of Japanese karaoke.
this song actually became a mini tv series that spawned like 4 movies. its a whose who of stars who guest star in the movies.
One of the great storytellers. "Coward of the County' is what you need to react to next. No spoilers but your jaw will drop.
Day 44: Kenny Rogers is in the Michael Jackson We Are The World song i have to keep requesting this song now i know you will love it ❤
This and Lady are probably his most well known songs. I also really like She Believes In Me.
In my country (Argentina) that type of voice and especially in the tango environment is called "throat with sand" (garganta con arena) as it feels like it scratches the person singing.
Great reaction to a great artist.
I enjoy your reactions. Witty and charming. Your eyes are beautiful, it's nice to see without the eye makeup.
Definitely my favorite Kenny Rogers song and one of the catchiest songs I've ever listened to. I want to also recommend Home Free's cover of this song which is really good. Great reaction Biss!! ❤👏👏
Through the years from Kenny Rogers is a must that lady or vice versa .
I'd just like to thank Bisscute for doing this reaction just after disembarking from the _Mayflower_
A Kenny classic!!! For me, the most beautiful Kenny song that I was able to dedicate to my wife while she was alive was "Through the Years "(1981). and I am grateful for it. It was our song until she left us. Thanks for nice reaction.
Definitely a country song. It's hard to put a finger on what makes a country song precisely, but it usually involves storytelling in the song, acoustic guitar, plain and simple language that may use words like "countin'" instead of "counting". The instruments are often certain classic instruments like a mandolin, banjo, fiddle, perhaps a little piano occasion. The way the performer is dressed in a video is often a clue as well, because things like cowboy hats and boots are common. Sometimes the lyrics as well. The old joke is "What do you get if you play a country song backwards? You get your wife back, you get your dog back, you get your car back..." because a lot of older country in particular talks about being down on your luck and dealing with trying to pick yourself back up.
My favorite Kenny song is a lesser known song, Love Will Turn You Around
this is country music Kenny Rodger one great singer
the Fact that Rogers is probably the best country storyteller singer ever born (just an opinion), any well known one is worth a listen. It really depends on your mood...he's done badass ones like this one or "coward of the county", or like heart break ones like "Ruby" (don't take your love to town), or pure romance ones (to many to mention..lol)....its quite a back log of songs to go through
Best country story teller...Tom T Hall would be my choice.
George Jones beats them both, but great singers nonetheless.
I totally agree with your opinion 👍 lol😊
don't forget Scarlett Fever.
Jones is very much up there too...kind of hard to pick but liked Rogers more growing up so am biased @@kens.4198
Kenny Rogers is one of the great storytellers. His voice is perfect for this sort of song.
Country Music is like a large family, often telling stories.
I would suggest looking at actual families! The Carter Family was among the first celebrity singers with one of their multi-generational brood (June Carter) marrying Johnny Cash. Their daughter Rosanne also had hit songs.
Then there's the country icon Hank Williams Sr. Hank Jr had some good songs and even Hank III added to the Williams' legacy.
I'd include everyone's favorite uncle, Uncle Ray Charles too. He had a few successful Country albums - as well as Blues and Soul. Then try a few tunes by Flatt & Scruggs, because a Country shindig isn't complete without Bluegrass picking.
He was in a movie called Six Pack, and the theme song was called "Love will Turn You Around" about a race car driver that comes across a group of orphans that can work on cars
You say you like the combination of Kenny and story telling songs....There are two where Kenny weaves great stories through music....."Coward of the County" and "Lucille"....you will love them both, I know you will!
The musical term for "cigarette voice" is called vocal fry.
I think she may have meant a smoky voice also known as a whiskey voice.
The voice sound he uses a lot is called "vocal Fry". :)
It's about giving relationship advice. Know when to hold em, know when to get rid of them and when to get the hell out and never look back.
Home Free has a WONDERFUL a capella version of this song that I do believe you enjoy.
Kenny's career began with the successful rock band The First Edition. He moved to country music when he went solo in 1974.
According to the stories Kenny originally wanted to do country but when he signed the contract for recording he was bound to do what they wanted and soft rock was the big deal. When he was established and was signing a new contract he said that now he had made it. When asked what that meant he said when they sign you and they tell you what to do you are on your way. When you reach the point where you can tell them what you are going to do then you have made it.
Hi Bisscute. Liked your reaction to Kenny Rogers 'The Gambler ' a lot of artists add their own voice to the backing vocals I could be wrong and a Happy Birthday to you in advance of the big day ❤❤❤🎂🎂🎂🎂❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💙💙💙💙💙💙💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
quite simply- you are awesome!
your a breath of fresh air I like your reactions it's fun entertaining always look forward to new uploads
I think the term you're looking for is "smoker's voice". It's definitely a country song. It's hard to tell sometimes what's a country song and what isn't because a lot of songs have blended styles. I didn't know there was a music video for this song. There was also a movie for this song. I saw it. It was terrible, but I like the song. It tells a good story. I think this song is what he's best known for. Another great story song of his "Lucille".
If you like country songs, my favorite artist is John Prine. He wrote the best songs, but he was not a good singer (and he knew it). It didn't stop him from singing though, and he was admired by the very best.
Happy birthday a little early
I could listen to you speak pretty much anytime any day and it would be music. Love the accent.
Iconic man & song. RIP.
Thank you for your kind reaction. I enjoy Kenny Roger's music. Another country music storyteller is Johnny Cash. You may want to react to some of his songs as well. Such as Folsom Prison Blues or Big River.
Great song! Coward of the County next please.
Agreed 💯!!! Then Lady should be your following reaction. 😁😁😁 Great reaction BTW Biss!!! ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
He was so good. Growing up in the '60s and '70s, Kenny Rogers' music was certainly a part of my childhood. "RUBY" and "REUBEN JAMES" were two of my early favorites. There are so many for you to choose from, but if I was to narrow it down to just one I would recommend "MORNING DESIRE" czcams.com/video/0r4xcko6uUI/video.html. Such a sweet song, one that every lucky man can relate to.
Love Will Turn You Around. By Kenny Rogers. From the Movie Six Pack from the 1980s. Great Song.
Yes it is country. Kenny Rogers is a country icon.
They were both gamblers in life only one was older than the other and giving advice.
