You have the best reactions ❤ This came out when I was younger but I didn't really appreciate it at the time because I didn't associate myself with being a "rocker" It really is such a great album though and especially this song is so mellow, catchy and has that "feeling"

Gabriel and how everything is left behind over time. What also made me reflect is that you don't need great paraphernalia, large orchestras and choirs, countless instruments, to make a beautiful song that moves us, you just need sensitivity and talent like Peter Gabriel has enough to create this beauty. In some of his older videos he plays a handpan and at the beginning of the video he explained he is not a professional hamdpan player but then proceeds to sound amazing he also did videos with a pvc pipe drum simaler to the blue man groop that are also amazing

Listen to Kate Bush records from the 70's before digital effects existed. Her voice has always been airy. On the "Don't give Up" line her voice is doubled with a second part that is in harmony. Basically she harmonizes with you self on an additional track.

Peter Gabriel was only great to watch/listen live in concerts. Never a fan of any of his videos. Hopefully someone will request one of his live performances, like "Talk to me" with Paula Cole. Fabulous concert performance.

They're overdubbing their voices, it's an old low-tech method of lending depth to a vocal performance. It definitely is better than Autotune, because at least overdubbing requires someone to actually be able to sing and carry a tune.

Paula Cole was the original female singer on the earliest live concert version of Don’t Give Up in the 80s. That performance by Gabriel and the band was phenomenal and featured Cole’s pure vocals, as opposed to the wavering you hear on this recording. The original was supremely more emotional from the duet.
