This is the original key in which the song was performed. The comment Kurt made about a different key was in reference to a rehearsal they did prior to the show, where Kurt played it differently; it's on youtube, actually.
It A minor
They the key
Where Did You Sleep Last Night was my favorite song of this concert. You need to understand Kurt was in pain during this
The look in the end says a lot. That's been haunting me ever since.
Oh yeah@@janosriippa
4:39, Kurt cobain messes up a guitar note, and so he masks the error by singing in the pitch of the mistake. That’s one of my favorite clever things he did in this performance, it goes to show you he thinks his playing. This masking adds to the already vulnerable and broken sound.
When he said "I have very bad posture" I really felt that.
“Me too man ima freaking shhhrimp” 😭😂😭😂
Nirvana mtv unplugged all apologies and on a plain are musts
This is the original key from the album (might be a quarter tone tuned down, but not a different key.) This show was their songs played acoustically. They also had a few songs with the Meat Puppets (another indie Pacific northwest band). on the performance. This is my favorite Nirvana project.
All Apologies is my favorite unplugged song. Actually, it's my favorite Nirvana song.
The "acting strange" was just Kurt being super nervous about this concert because it's so intimate. Also the fact that he was a huge heroin addict by this point in his life. Thank you for continuing reactions to this concert.
Kurt was COMPLETELY CLEAN at this time. He looked the best he had in over a year and was starting to get his life back together, but obviously the Black Widow of Grunge couldn't possibly allow that to continue, especially as SOBER Kurt was beginning the process of divorcing the b1tch.
@@paulsmith2516he was in withdrawal during the Unplugged. The production couldn't find him heroin so in the end he took Valium if I recall, to diminish at least a bit the withdrawal syndroms. He was clean earlier, during the In Utero recording session, but at the time of the MTV set he was addict again, wich was already a bad signe for the incoming European Tour ( he never travelled with drugs so you have to find along the way and that was difficult exept the week in Paris in febuary 94).
Man i made a comment about him being super high on heroine and had to backtrack. I was thinking of a different performance, where almost died taking too much, not realizing how potent it was.
@@TheTrequarista I was gonna say watching him now, as opposed to then, when I was like 13, his jaw is super active (side to side motion, grinding), and thought maybe he was on something speedy (coke or speed probs given the era). But you guys seem to know better.
He moved his jaw side to side a lot. It has been talked about in band interviews forever. Performers do this to keep time.. Especially since he was solo without drums.
Good song and enjoyed the reaction, as always!
Kurt was cool that night, he actually went into the crowd and signed autographs for the fans after.
There’s video of it on CZcams.
Something to notice while he’s signing, he’s right handed.
Kurt only played guitar left handed.
Whaaaaat?!? That’s “crazy”! (Thank you for mentioning, cuz I assumed he was a Leftie.)
@@marciebulsaraorcutt
I’m completely left handed except I play guitar right handed lol…
@@foofghtr 🙀😻🫨
That’s AMAZING!🫶
Pretty sure Pennyroyal Tea is meant to induce an abortion. “Distill the Life that’s inside of me “ it’s a sad song
Yes you are correct, this song is about abortion. It used to be believed that pennyroyal tea along with other ingredients could cause an abortion. You can replace the word Distill with Kill.
On the album this song is aggressive and punk-like. Unplugged brings out the sad meaning of the lyrics. Both great to listen to and very typical Nirvana.
It has distortion, but it's anything but aggressive
Sad story - 'Pennyroyal tea' was supposed to be the next single from Nirvana's 1993 album 'In Utero'... It was remixed by R.E.M. producer Scott Litt (from the original album mix by Steve Albini) for a '94 release... Tragically, Kurt Cobain's death in April '94 ended Nirvana and all promotion of the 'In Utero' album... and the single was not released.
The "MTV Unplugged" album was released in '94 showcasing the iconic performance by Nirvana... Unlike most bands that performed their hits w/ acoustic guitars, Nirvana chose a set of obscure Nirvana songs and covers, like - 'About a girl'... 'On a plain' ... 'Dumb' ... 'Where did you sleep last night' ... 'The man who sold the world'... 'Lake of fire'... etc.
However, the remixed 'Pennyroyal Tea' was included in the 2002 'Nirvana' (self-titled album) which was a 'greatest hits' album for Nirvana and included their last recorded song "You know you're right"...
Try to react to “ dumb “ in the unplugged version. It’s France’s favorite song ( Kurt’s daughter ) and it sounds so nice and so simple. The band had that input and emotion to every song as simple as you can hear .
Loved it! Drain you next???? (Kurt's favorite song he wrote)
Up! On French TV.
Their cover of David Bowie’s “man who sold the world” and “where did you sleep last night” are my two favorites from this set. This one is ok but not the best to react to in my opinion. Kurt was very nervous about the close setting and it being perfect. He was a perfectionist more than people realize, the distortion of their music and the studio hides a lot. He wasn’t acting strange, that’s just Kurt being Kurt in my opinion.
good music forever thanks for the reaction greetings 🤘🤘👋👋💯💯
lake of fire
Never clicked a video so fast
already 307 k - You're on a roll
Since 300K, tremendous growth!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm sure pennyroyal tea was a drink that he drank in Australia that helped ease his stomach complaints
No Biss you are wrong I honestly feel this is the best.
Since he mentions Leonard Cohen in this song, I would like you do a reaction to Famous blue raincoat by Leonard Cohen
Hi 👋😁 Miss Bisscute 😎 Madalina 😊
As always the like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 🤗👍👍🇺🇲🌅☀️🌞🏝️🎙️
you need to see Breed live perfomance
I hope you do sometime a reaction from The Cure MTV Unplugged. This was an amazing performance too. This was a gig that left me speechless.
I like that you be honest in your reactions 👍
He did more than smoke! Have grait day Bis.😊
I wore the cassette tape out of 'Nevermind' when i was a kid.
Maybe the Polish ministry of education paid CZcams some money to promote the Polish language:)
I liked it, Biss. Unplugged performances are supposed to have that cafe bar vibe. I'm guessing the cigarette helps his voice get that raspy quality. 👍 Victor and Leo "Amigo Apaixonado" my suggestion.
This Unplugged set is one of the best performances in the series' history. Any changes to their original music and the covers were all slights to MTV and the Record company for trying to force Nirvana to play their hits. Kurt said he wasn't interested in playing Smells Like Teen Spirit on an acoustic guitar. It was the rebellious and defiant nature of the band. Favorite songs from the performance are Lake of Fire, About A Girl, On A Plain, Man Who Sold the World and Oh Me since you already did Where Did You Sleep Last Night.

Always preferred the studio version of this song, tho some think this is special because he did it solo. Just to note pennyroyal tea is real and has a rumored use for women to end their pregnancies. I used to know a girl who was such a big Nirvana fan she had an actual bag of it.
Congratulations Bisscute
Hey Biss, when you are searching for a word and say quality a kind of obscure English word for that is "chops." It's not something a non native speaker should feel bad about stumbling over. Keep up the great work!
I remember seeing this back in the day, we thought the old sweater, dirty hair and chin were Kurt doing his image up.
It turned out he was not faking.
Thanks Biss. 😊😊
Need to remember he was by himself didn’t have another guitar or a bass or the drums so he probably really anxious
yes! loved this CD!
I enjoyed this one a lot...the passion was there imo.
This song is one of my favorite Nirvana songs and favorites from this performance Lyrically, at least to me, it’s about someone who is done with the world; who is very hurt emotionally and is tired of life Kurt performing this solo makes it even more poignant knowing what we know now Also, pennyroyal tea was something women would drink to terminate pregnancies (whether it did or not is debated)
This performance reminds me of an open-mic night at some coffee shop. Unremarkable.
That is a good music very big fun of nirvana
I don’t think he acted weird but after he died the producer said he was really sad after the show because he thought everyone hated it because he couldn’t really hear the applauses
Hi Biss, I agree with you about the performance, it was just kind of there ya know. So because I am usually working when you are on line during the day and I never get to see your shows, when are you moving? Will you be offline for a few days. Why the move? Wanted to go someplace that was warmer or chasing a guy, lol just kidding. Have a good day. 🙂
Great choice for the reaction Miss Bisscute, Nirvana always the best. you should react to other artist that performed unplugged shows on MTV: Duran Duran also made a very nice concert.
I miss this guy so much man Rest Easy Kurt Cobain 😢
kurdt was plagued with stomach problems for a large portion of his life, and this song is simply about those issues.... Can't sleep, warm milk, laxatives, antacids..... And of course pennyroyal tea. Near the end his doctors finally got him under control and he had some relief.
Pennyroyal Tea is used to induce abortions.
love this song
I think bisscute would like spin doctors with the song two princes.
Одно можно сказать точно - певцу надо бросать курить. Нет проблем у Biss, она не курит. Поэтому её речь журчит, как горный ручей! Чисто и мелодично!❤
I love nirvana and I love you ❤
try the nirvana live and loud show, song drain you
Opinions are never wrong, after all they're your opinion. Rock on
its time to "Polly" ;)
This girl has natural beauty and an angelic face.
Love you biss❤❤❤
Your subs changed to Polish because you chose to set them to Polish on the Sabaton - Uprising video. CZcams remembers last chosen language
I’ve noticed the band wasn’t aware of a set list. I think they had songs planned but Kurt was kinda winging a lot.
love it
Lake of fire
Hi Madalina 👋, it's nice seeing you again.
Jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam from his ver concert is a must!!!!
I don't know where the idea of Kurt being weird in this show came from, he was the best he'd been in over a year at the time and was even clean and sober. As far as this song goes, Kurt NAILED IT! This is how the song is MEANT to sound. It's by far the closest to it's original recording as it was always a slow simple quiet song.
He wasn't clean. He didn't have his dealers, couldn't find heroine, and got fed Valium so he could get through the show. It's not heroine, for the show but he definitely wasn't clean at this point.
I prefer the album version, but this is still special
You know the drummer Is the lead singer of the foo fighters.
You should check out the Nirvana Unplugged interview its on youtube but it pretty much explains show throw the eyes of the producers and audiance and you will understand why hes acting weird
"I can relate to these lyrics."
I sure hope not. :-)
I can't hear this song without thinking "suicide note".
Yes, pennyroyal tea is a supposed abortifacient, but as a dude, the probability that the life he was talking about distilling was a pregnancy is small. I think its a bit more metaphorical than that.
This is a song about extreme depression, with references to Kurt's personal issues such as stomach pain and impostor syndrome, as well as refernces to death.
And he sang it with feeling.
Or maybe I'm just projecting the end onto an earlier part of the story.
PS Missed my chance to meet Leonard Cohen, but there are probably worse people to hang with in the afterlife. Bet the dude would have a million great stories.
Because POLSKA GOLA! Polska biało-czerwoni!
Comments helps algorithm.
This is the normal key (original)
"It might be nice to start playing acoustic guitars and be thought of as a singer and a songwriter, rather than a grunge rocker you know? Because then I might be able to take advantage of that when I'm older, and sit down on a chair and play acoustic guitar like Johnny Cash.” -Kurt 1993. You did Kurt, and it was brilliant. This doesn't sound like a man planning to leave to me. Dead men don't pull triggers.
#Justiceforkurt
He had obviously attempted suicide on a few occasions prior to this show. I feel like unfortunately, his short lived life was in the cards and probably accelerated by being thrust into instant stardom.
Lake of fire nirvana version good for you react
I guess someone polished the subtitles. lol
@BisscuteReacts, try listening to this love song Edwin McCain - I could not ask for more 😊
My wife biscute ..❤❤❤..mmuacchh

Shrimp? Pffft amateur - Igor reincarnated here.
Please react to lake of fire!!!! Same album!!!
Kurt behaved like a troubled genius... to the "normies" his behavior might seem strange but this is how REAL people act... and react... Kurt was a real person, an original... but a lot of people see it "weird" ... they're just in another wave length
i PrEfEr ThE sTuDiO vErSiOn? (gaht kreeyay-teev wheat mye cah-mehnt)
Yeah this girl definitely doesn't get Kurt Cobain
Hola.

I was never a fan of Nirvana. I like a lot of other 80s songs, but Nirvana doesn't make the list for me personally. Im very picky in what im looking for in music.
Kurt had consumed different heorin maybe black and was not well
This song didn't translate to unplugged as well as the others did, listen to the studio version of Pennyroyal Tea sometime.
Helo Nex React dimas senopati cover Dream on 🙏😁
please react Alice in chains-sludge factory
Pennyroyal tea is said to aid in non evasive (medical) abortion. That's why the lyrics are a bit odd.
😢😢😢😢😢
